2. Why I chose this topic
To determine whether the perceived development
difference between West and East Amman actually exists
For years, people have perceived Amman as being divided
into two parts; the West, the more prosperous part
where upper – middle neighborhoods, high rise office
buildings, hotels, businesses and banks locate, and the
East, the older part of Amman, where lower income
neighborhoods, refugee camps, and small informal
markets locate.
I wanted to see whether this difference exists, and to what
extent…

11. Suggested Development projects
SOME of the suggestions included –
• Projects which provide job opportunities for the youth with reasonable income
• Improve and provide transportation in the district
• Parks for children
• Libraries for children
• Improve health care & renew facilities
• Means for recreation such as parks, playgrounds, pools for children
• Better garbage collection process
• Open vocational schools
• Mall
• Parking lots
• Maintain the cleanness of the neighborhood
• ‘Change the people’
• Sports clubs
• Underground train
• Better Car parks – ensure every business which opens has its own parking space
• Open offices to transmit information and complaints between population and authorities
• Make roads and pavements more handicapped friendly
12. Conclusion
• After obtaining the results and analyzing the
data, I found that discrepancy between the two
regions is inevitably there.
• This difference in development is witnessed – to
different extents - in all of the assessed aspects,
whether in female empowerment, education
levels, income, employment rates, technology
availability and health care.
• We need to try to bridge the gap between these
two areas
