Noun এ ঩নযফতটন কয়য ফযফ঴ায কযয়ত ঴য়ফ।
Example: The information is collected from different sources.
Rule-2. Preposition এয ঩য মনদ বকান word ফযফহৃত ঴য় তা঴য়র তায়ক noun এ ঩নযফতটন কয়য
ফযফ঴ায কযয়ত ঴য়ফ। মনদ Preposition এয ঩য বকান verb থায়ক তা঴য়র verb এয ব঱য়ল ing বমাগ কয়য
঄থটাৎ gerund কয়য ফযফ঴ায কযয়ত ঴য়ফ।

10. Rule-4. One of, No one of, Any of the, one third of, Each of, every of, either of, neither
of এয ঩য়য Noun(plural), verb (singular) & possessive adjective (singular) ঴য়।
Example: Neither of the students is going to his college.
Rule-5. All এয ফযফ঴ায-
i) All of the + plural noun + plural verb
ii) All দ্বাযা মনদ ঳ফনকেু (everything) বফাঝায় তা঴য়র verb singular ঴য়ফ।
iii) প্রফাদ ফায়কয all অ঳য়র verb singular ঴য়ফ।
iv) All দ্বাযা মনদ person বক বফাঝায় তা঴য়র verb plural ঴য়ফ।

14. Relative pronoun: বম pronoun ঩ূয়ফট উয়েনখত বকান noun এয ঩য়য ফয়঳ তায ঳ায়থ ঳ম্পকট স্থা঩ন
কয়য এফং ব঳ ঳ায়থ দু’নি sentence বক মুি কয়য তায়ক Relative Pronoun ফয়র। Relative Pronoun
ন঴য়঳য়ফ who, which, what, when, but, as, whose etc. ফযফহৃত ঴য়।
Example: The man who said that was a fool.
Antecedent: Relative Pronoun ঩ূয়ফট উয়েনখত বম noun-বক ননয়দট঱ কয়য তায়ক Antecedent ফয়র।
উ঩য়যয ফাকযনিয়ত who Relative Pronoun এফং man ঴য়ি Antecedent.

Rule-1. Pronoun নি মনদ ফযনিফাচক বমভনঃ I, we, you, he etc. ঴য় তয়ফ তায ঩নযফয়তট who ফয়঳।
Example: The man who stole my bag was tall.
 Who এয Oj_]tiv_ `orm ―wbom‖ & Poss_ssiv_ `orm ―wbos_‖
Whom: Pronoun নি মনদ Objective (me, us, them etc.) ঴য় তয়ফ তায ঩নযফয়তট whom ফয়঳।
Example: I asked him whom he was calling.
Whose: Pronoun নি মনদ Possessive ঄থটাৎ my, our, their etc. ঴য় তয়ফ তায ঩নযফয়তট whose
ফয়঳। whose pronoun নি ফযনি এফং ফস্তু উবয় বক্ষয়ত্রআ প্রয়মাজয।
Example: The boy whose pen was lost was very poor.
Rule-2. Pronoun নি মনদ ফস্তু, ঄ফযনিফাচক ফা আতয প্রাণীফাচক বমভনঃ pen, dog, table, computer
etc. ঴য় তয়ফ তায ঩নযফয়তট which ফয়঳। Possessive case-এ of which ফয়঳।
Example: The books which were attracted him is read.
Rule-3. That কখয়না কখয়না who, whom, which এয ঩নযফয়তট ফয়঳ তয়ফ whose এয ঩নযফয়তট ফয়঳
না। That ফযনি ফস্তু উবয়য়য ঩নযফয়তট ফয়঳। এয বকান Possessive form বনআ।

15. Example: This is the man that (=who) lost his bag.
That এয অয঑ নকেু ফযফ঴ায বদখুনঃ
a) দুনি antecedent এয ভয়ধয একনি ফযনি এফং ঄঩যনি ফস্তু/প্রাণী ঴য়র তায়দয ঩য়য
b) Who/what আতযানদ Interrogative pronoun এয ঩যঃ What is that to you?
c) Superlative degree-এয Adjective এয ঩যঃ She is the best girl that I ever saw.
d) All, the same, any, only এয ঩য
Rule-4. What শুধু ফস্তুয়ক ননয়দট঱ কযয়ত ফযফহৃত ঴য়। What= the thing এফং How= The way ঄থটাৎ
What & How এয ভায়ঝ antecedent ননন঴ত থায়ক এআ কাযয়ন বমআ clause এ antecedent থায়ক
ব঳খায়ন What & How ফয়঳ না। অফায What & How বমআ clause এ থায়ক ব঳খায়ন antecedent ফয়঳
না।
Example:
 What you say is true.
 I do not like how he behaved with me.
Rule-5. Who, which, what এয ঳য়ে ever or soever বমাগ কয়য Compound relative গিন কযা
঴য়।
Example: Whoever you are, I do not care.
Possessive pronoun: আংয়যনজ বালায় ঳ফটনায়ভয ঳ভ঳যা ঴র ―অভায ঘয‖ অয ―ঘযিা অভায‖ — এখায়ন
অভযা একিা ঱ে ফযফ঴ায কযয়র঑ আংয়যনজয়ত ঴য় দু‖িা। একিা ঴য় ―my bous_‖ অয়যকিা ―Tb_ bous_ is
min_‖।

2. Using Possessive Pronouns and Adjectives
A possessive pronoun is used instead of a noun:
Julie's car is red. Mine is blue.
A possessive adjective is usually used to describe a noun, and it comes before it, like
other adjectives:
My car is bigger than her car.
Remember:
There are no apostrophes in possessive pronouns and adjectives.
The dog wagged its tail.
‗It's‘ is not [ poss_ssiv_ pronoun or [^j_]tiv_ — it m_[ns ‗it is‘:

Headword: মায়ক ননয়য় অয়রাচনা-঳ভায়রাচনা কযা ঴য় তায়ক Headword ফয়র।
Modifier: বম word, Headword এয অয়গ ফয়঳ Headword এয বদাল, গুন, ঄ফস্থা, ঳ংখযা, ঩নযভাণ
আতযানদ বফাঝায় তায়ক Modifier ফয়র।
Determiner: Headword এয অয়গ ফয়঳, বম Word Headword বক নননদটষ্ট কয়য বফাঝায় তায়ক
Determiner ফয়র।
Example: Hira is not a (determiner) good (modifier) student (Headword).

19. RULE-2. Adjective ঳ফ঳ভয় Noun ঄থফা Pronoun বক modify কয়য এফং Adverb ঳ফ঳ভয় verb বক
modify কয়য।
Example:
 Hira is a careful (adj) driver.
 Hira drives carefully. (adv)
RULE-3. Noun ফা Pronoun এয ঩য মনদ Noun থায়ক তয়ফ অয়গয Noun ফা Pronoun বক Adjective
ফরা ঴য়। অফায Adjective এয ঩য Noun থাকয়র ঐ Adjective এয অয়গ Article ফয়঳।
Example: His (Adj.) pen is very nice.
I forgot their telephone number.
RULE-4. Preposition মুি Noun ফা Pronoun Adverb এ ঩নযনত ঴য়।
Example: in time, day by day, at this moment etc.
RULE-5. মখন বকান Noun, Adjective ন঴য়঳য়ফ ফযফহৃত ঴য় তখন তা Singular ঴য়।
Example: I will go there for seven days (noun).
Go there for a ten mango (adjective) tree.
A two door car is cheaper than a four door model.
RULE-6. Linking verbs (appear, be, look, become, feel, smell, seem, sound, remain etc.)
এয ঩য Adjective ফযফহৃত ঴য়। নকন্তু Linking verb এয ঩য Preposition থাকয়র Adverb ফযফহৃত
঴য়।
a) Subject + linking verb + Adjective
Example: Jannat looks beautiful (Adj).
b) Subject + linking verb + Preposition + Adverb

RULE-7. Few, a few, the few, very few, not a few এয়দয ঩য Plural countable noun+ verb
plural ঴য়।
Example:
 I have few friends in CU.
 There are very few students in this institution.
RULE-8. Little/bit, a little/a bit, the little, very little, not a little এয়দয ঩য Singular
uncountable noun + verb singular ঴য়।
Example:
 There is little/bit water in the glass.
 There is little time to waste.
RULE-9. Some ফযফহৃত ঴য় Positive/affirmative sentence এ, নকন্তু Any ফযফহৃত ঴য় negative এফং
question এ।
Example:
 I have some mangoes.
 Have you any mango?
 Hira has some money.
RULE-10. Use of Enough/Too
(i) Subject + verb + Enough + noun + to +verb + for +ফযনি/ফস্তু

21. ঄থটাৎ Noun এয অয়গ Enough ফয়঳।
Example:
 You can marry a girl if you have enough money to spend for wife.
 A seventeen year old is not old enough to vote in as election.
(ii) Subject + verb + adj./adv. + Enough + to +verb + for +ফযনি/ফস্তু
঄থটাৎ Adjevtive এফং Adverb এয ঩য Enough ফয়঳।
Example:
 Tea is hot enough to have for me.
 That excus_ isn‖t good enough.
(iii) Subject + verb + Too + adj./adv. + to +verb + for +ফযনি/ফস্তু

Example:
 Tea is too hot to have for me.
 This brand is too expensive to buy.
 He always plays his stereo too loud to enjoy.
 He was too clever to miss the point.
RULE-11. Countable Noun এয বক্ষয়ত্র many এফং uncountable noun এয বক্ষয়ত্র much ফযফহৃত

22. RULE-12. Fast/hard/late এগুয়রা Adjective এফং Adverb উবয় বক্ষয়ত্রআ ফযফহৃত ঴য়।
Example:
 Hira is fast very fast (adj.) driver.
 Hira drives very fast (adv.).
 The bus was late (adj.).
 I got up late (adv.) this this morning. //(অভায বক্ষয়ত্র অনভ ঳ফ঳ভয় late ;-))
RULE-13. Too much এয ঩য uncountable noun ঄থফা verb in past participle ফযফহৃত ঴য় এফং
much too এয ঩য adjective ফযফহৃত ঴য়।
Example:
 Too much heat (N).
 Too much tired (PP).
 Much too hot (adj).
RULE-14. Too many এয ঩য Countable noun ঄থফা verbs in past participle ফযফহৃত ঴য় এফং
Many too এয ঩য Adjective ফযফহৃত ঴য়।
Example:
 Too many mangoes (N).
 Too many worked (pp).
 Many too week (adj).

23. Adverb এয ঳ফয়চয়য় ঳঴জ ঳ংজ্ঞা ঴র verb বক প্রশ্ন কযয়র বম উিয ঩া঑য়া মায়। verb কখন, বকাথায়,
নকবায়ফ, কতিু কু ঴য়ি এিা বম word ফা একানধক word এ বফাঝা মায়ফ ব঳িাআ adverb।
বনতট ঩যীক্ষায প্রয়শ্ন Adverb এয বম নফলয় দু‖বিা বফন঱ গুরুত্ব঩ূণট ব঳গুয়রা ঴র adjective এয অয়গ ফ঳ায়না

বমভন, ঢাকা নফশ্বনফদযারয় এফং চট্টগ্রাভ নফশ্বনফদযারয়য়য ন঱ক্ষকয়দয নপ্রয় একিা form ঴র **too +
adjective + infinitive.
He is too weak to walk. এআ too ঴র ঳ফয়চয়য় বফন঱ ফযফহৃত Adverb।
বনতট, BCS এফং Job ঩যীক্ষায় প্রায়আ অয়঳ এযকভ adverb গুয়রায ফযফ঴ায ঳ম্পয়কট অ঩নায়দয বভৌনরক
ধাযণা বদফায বচষ্টা কযফ।
 Adverbs of frequency: Once/twice/thrice – ঳ংখযা঳ূচক, একফায, দুআফায, নতনফায।
seldom – ভায়ঝ ভায়ঝ, often – প্রায়আ, frequently – ঘনঘন, again – অফায, always –
঳ফ঳ভয়আ।
 Adverbs of time: before, after, now, ago, soon, late, lately, daily - already, never,
since
 Adverbs of place: Here – এখায়ন, there- ব঳খায়ন, everywhere – ঳ফখায়ন, up – উ঩য়য, out
– ফাআয়য, within নবতয়য, in - নবতয়য, away – দূয়য, backward – ব঩েয়ন
 Adverbs of manner: Soundly, slowly, fast.
 Adverbs of affirmation and negative: very, quite, fully.
 Adverb of Effect or Cause: consequently, accordingly.
 Adverb of Order: secondly, firstly.
 Adverb of quantity: too, little, much, less.

24. Manner + Place + Time
঳ংয়ক্ষয়঩ অভযা MPT ঑ ফরয়ত ঩ানয।
Rule-2. মনদ বকান word, Verb বক modify কয়য তা঴য়র ঐ word নিয়ক Adverb এ form কয়য use
কযয়ত ঴য়ফ।
Example: he speaks English fluently.
Rule-3. শুধুভাত্র দুআনি auxiliary verb অয়ে মায়দয ঩ূয়ফট Adverb ফয়঳। বমভনঃ Have to এফং used
to।
Example: I often used to smoke.
Rule-4. ননয়চয Adverb গুয়রায ভয়ধয না কথানি ননন঴ত অয়ে এফং এগুয়রা বকান ফায়কয ফযফহৃত ঴য়র ব঳আ
ফায়কয কখয়না no, not ফা never ফ঳য়ফ না, বমভন- Hardly, Barely, Seldom, Scracely, never, no
sooner, not once, Not only, not until, never again, Rarely, only after etc.
Example: I could hardly solve this problem.
Rule-5. Only ঳ফ঳ভয় মায ঩ায়঱ থায়ক তায়কআ modify কয়য। অয একাযয়ন only বক use কযায বফরায়
঳তকটতা ঄ফরম্বন কযয়ত ঴য়ফ কাযন ঄ফস্থানয়বয়দ only নফনবন্ন ঄থট প্রদান কয়য।
Example:
 Only Asif was accused of lying. (Means that no one else was accused)
 Asif was only accused of lying. (He was accused but not convicted)
 Asif was accused of lying only. (He was not accused of any thing else)
Rule-6. Adjective এয অয়গ মনদ বকান word থায়ক তয়ফ তায়ক Adverb এ ঩নযফতটন কয়য কয়য ফযফ঴ায
কযয়ত ঴য়ফ।
Example: Ema looks extraordinarily (Adv) beautiful (Adj).

25. Rule-7. নকেু Adverbs (always, never, often, rarely, usually, almost, already, generally,
nearly, hardly, just, quite, barely, scarcely etc.) Subject এফং Verb এয ভাঝখায়ন ফয়঳। নকন্তু
মনদ Auxiliary verb থায়ক তয়ফ Auxiliary verb এফং ভূর verb এয ভাঝখায়ন Adverb ফয়঳।
Example:
 I seldom meet him.
 He has just gone there.
Rule-8. Negative ঄থট প্রকা঱ক not once, not only, not until, never, never again, only after,
only rarely, very seldom আতযানদ adverb গুয়রা঑ auxiliary verb বক ঳য়ে কয়য ননয়য় অয়঳ এফং
Subject এয অয়গ ফয়঳।
Note: বময়কান Adverb মখন Subject এয অয়গ ফয়঳ তখন তা Auxiliary verb বক ঳য়ে কয়য ননয়য়
অয়঳ এফং Subject এয অয়গ ফয়঳।
Example:
 Never again will they stay in that hotel.
 Only rarely has an accident occurred.
 No sooner had I enter the room than a thief went out.
Rule-9. Late ভায়ন ঴য়রা বদনয অয lately ভায়ন ঴য়রা ঳ম্প্রনত।
 I arrived there late.
 He has got married lately.
Rule-10. Shortly ভায়ন ঴য়রা তাড়াতানড় কযা এফং in short ভায়ন ঴য়রা ঳ংয়ক্ষয়঩।
 Come back shortly.
 Give me substance in short.

33. এখন অভযা এখান বথয়ক বম ঳ফ verb গুয়রা গুরুত্ব঩ূণট তা ননয়য় অয়রাচনা কযফ এফং Verb এয নকেু

Finite Verb: বম verb নি তায Subject, person ঑ number ঄নুমায়ী ঩নযফনতটত ঴য় তায়ক Finite verb
ফয়র।
Non-finite verb: বম verb নি তায Subject, person ঑ number ঄নুমায়ী ঩নযফনতটত ঴য় না তায়ক

 The woman stops crying.
 The woman stoppped crying.
 They stop crying.
এখায়ন প্রনত বক্ষয়ত্রআ ঩নযফনতটত ঴য়ি শুধু Stop verb নিয, ঄নযনদয়ক crying এয বকান ঩নযফতটন ঴য়ি না।

Rule-7. Before এয প্রথভ ঄ং঱ মনদ past perfect tense ঴য়র এয ঩য়যয ঄ং঱ past indefinite tense
঴য়ফ এফং after এয প্রথভ ঄ং঱ past indefinite tense ঴য়র ঩য়যয ঄ং঱ past perfect tense ঴য়ফ।
Example:
 The patient had died before the doctor came.
 The patient died after the doctor had come.
Rule-8. Despite ঑ inspite of এয ঄থট একআ নকন্তু despite এয ঩য কখয়না of ফ঳য়ফ না।
Rule-9. Not—but মনদ বকান ফায়কয থায়ক তা঴য়র but এয ঩য বম noun/pronoun/adjective থায়ক
ব঳নিআ ভূর ফা প্রধান ঄থট বদয়।
Example: The school colour is not blue but brown. (এখায়ন but এয ঩য brown colour নিআ
ভূর)
Rule-10. So that এয ঩য়যয ফায়কয planned result বক ননয়দট঱ কয়য।
Sub + verb + --- + so that + sub + verb + ---
Example: He borrowed the money so that he could finish his education.
Rule-11. So—that / such---that/ such—as এয বক্ষয়ত্র so ফয়঳ Adjective/adverb এয ঩ূয়ফট এফং
Such ফয়঳ article এয ঩ূয়ফট।

53. Example:
 He is so intelligent boy that he will pass.
 He is such an intelligent boy that he will pass.
 I have not seen such a man as he.
Rule-12. Unless/if not মনদ না ঄য়থট ফযফহৃত ঴য় এফং বময়঴তু এনি ননয়জআ একনি negative word তাআ
এয ঩য বকান negative word ফয়঳ না।
Example: We will miss the class unless we start at 7.30.
Rule-13. Though/Although ঄থট মনদ঑। ফায়কযয শুরুয়ত though/even though/although থাকয়র
঩যফতটী clause এ but ফয়঳ না।
Example: Though/Although he is poor, he is honest.
Rule-14. মনদ বকান ফায়কয Lest থায়ক ব঳আ ফায়কয কখয়না negative ঱ে ফয়঳ না কাযণ lest ননয়জআ
negative word. Lest এয ঩য should ফ঳য়ফ।

এখায়ন ঳ভয় থাকািা ঱তট, অয মা঑য়ািা ঴র ভূর ঘিনা।
N.B. Conditional Sentence এ ২ নি ঄ং঱ থায়ক ―I`‖ নদয়য় মুি ঄ং঱ বক .If clause ফয়র এফং ঄঩য
঄ং঱ বক Main clause ফয়র। If clause নি ফায়কযয শুরুয়ত঑ ঴য়ত ঩ায়য অফায ব঱য়ল঑ ঴য়ত ঩ায়য।

বমভন: His grasp of many areas of radio and television technology makes/make it easy
for him to find a job. এআ ফায়কয verb খুফ ঳঴য়জ বফাঝা বগয়র঑ subject বফয কযয়ত বফ঱ ঳ভ঳যা ঴য়।
এআ ফায়কয subject ঴র his grasp একনি singular subject তাআ verb ঴য়ফ makes. এখায়ন subject
এফং verbএয ভয়ধয একনি prepositional phrase (of many areas in radio and television
technology) অয়ে তাআ subject ফুঝয়ত ঳ভ঳যা ঴য়।

4. –ics নদয়য় ব঱ল ঴য় এভন ঱ে গুয়রা মনদ বকান নফলয় এয নাভ বফাঝায় তা঴য়র তায ঩য verb এয
singular form ঴য়। বমভন: economics is my favorite subject.
5. The number-এয ঩য singular verb ঴য় এফং a number-এয ঩য plural verb ঴য়। বমভন:
 A number of students fail every year.
 The number of students who pass is increasing.
6. Each, every, somebody, everybody, anybody, nobody এআ pronoun-গুয়রায ঩য
singular verb ঴য়। বমভন: Everybody wants to study in Dhaka university.
7. কখয়না কখয়না Subject এফং verb-এয ভায়ঝ Alona witb’., Toa_tb_r witb’’. অ঳য়ত
঩ায়য। নকন্তু verb subject-এয person ঄নুমায়ী ঴য়ফ। বমভন: john along with his friends is
going to the cinema. এখায়ন verb-এয অয়গ plural noun থাকয়র঑ subject (john) ঄নুমায়ী

Degree এয ভয়ধয Change ঳ভূ঴ অ঩নন ফআ বথয়ক বদয়খ ননয়ফন। অনভ এখায়ন ঩যীক্ষায জনয প্রয়য়াজনীয়
ননয়ভ ঳ভূ঴ ননয়য় অয়রাচনা কযফ।
Rule-1. দুআয়য়য ভয়ধয বফাঝায়ত Comparative degree ঴য়। অভযা জানন Comparative degree এয
অয়গ the ফয়঳ না নকন্তু মনদ two কথানিয উয়েখ বথয়ক তা঴য়র the ফযফ঴ায কযয়ত ঴য়।
Example: This is the wiser plan of the two.
Rule-2. Superior, inferior, senior, junior, posterior, prior, preferable এগুয়রা comparative
ন঴য়঳য়ফ ফযফ঴ায ঴য় এফং এয়দয ঩য than না ফয়঳ to ফয়঳। Comparative এয ঩য়য ঳ংখযাফাচক ঱য়েয
঩ূয়ফট by ফয়঳ এফং গুণফাচক ঱য়েয ঩য়য in ফয়঳।

 He is senior to me in rank.
 The motherland is superior to heaven.
Rule-3. দুনি verb এয comparison ঴য়র উবয় verb এয একআ রূ঩ ঴য়ফ। ঄থটাৎ একনি মনদ verb+ing
঴য় তা঴য়র ঩য়যযনি঑ ing মুি ঴য়ফ। than এয ঩য to উ঴য থায়ক।
Example:
 Studying is better than playing.
 It is better to study than play.
Rule-4. Prefer এয ঩য মনদ একনি verb অয়঳ তা঴য়র prefer এয ঩য to ফয়঳। নকন্তু prefer এয ঩য
দুনি verb অ঳য়র verb দুনি gerund ঴য়।
Example: I prefer reading to playing.
Rule-5. Superlative degree এয অয়গ the ফয়঳। বকান স্থান নননদটষ্ট কয়য বফাঝায়র তায অয়গ in ফ঳য়ফ
এফং মায়দয ভয়ধয তু রনা কযা ঴য় তায়দয অয়গ of ফয়঳।
Example:
 He is the best student in the class.
 She is the happiest child of all.
Rule-6. Inner, outer, latter, elder, hinder, upper, utter আতযানদ বদখয়ত Comparative এয ভত
঴য়র঑ এযা positive degree বত ফযফ঴ায কযা ঴য় এফং এগুয়রায than/to বকাননিআ ফয়঳ না। (exterior,
interior, major, minor, ulterior এযা঑ প্রায় একআ)

 They ran to the outer wall.
