FLOATATION
The tendency of an object to rise up to the upper levels of the fluid or to
float on the fluid surface is known as floatation

Fluid mechanics is the branch of physics concerned with the mechanics of fluids and the
forces on them. It has applications in a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical,
aerospace, civil, chemical and biomedical engineering, geophysics, oceanography,
meteorology, astrophysics, and biology.

FLUID RESISTANCE: AIR & WATER
Air resistance—Air resistance is the force on an object moving through air. Air resistance
affects how fast or slowly objects move through the air. Water resistance - Water resistance is
the force on objects floating on or moving in water.

DRAG & LIFT
Lift is defined as the component of the aerodynamic force that is perpendicular to the
flow direction, and drag is the component that is parallel to the flow direction.
