Mr. Amir Pia has been providing project engineering services for over 12 years for
residential and public works clients. He has been responsible for processing RFIs,
submittals, change orders, resolving field issues, documenting as-built conditions,
preparing progress reports, monitoring resolution of final punchlist items, preparing
independent change order cost estimates, assisting in negotiation of change orders,

As Office Engineer, Amir’s duties includes: 1) coordinating with Contractors and LAWA
Inspectors to review and process the contractor’ monthly pay request applications; 2)
coordinate with the design engineers to secure review comments for shop drawings
and submittals; 3) coordinate with the design engineers to respond to RFI’s; 4)
distribute shop drawings, submittals, and RFI’s to the project team members; 5)
receive, review, and input correspondences in Prolog and prepare prolog status
reports; 6) maintain project files and document / drawing management systems (hard
and electronic copies); 6) attending progress meetings, documenting, and distributing
minutes of these meetings; and 7) other tasks as assigned by the project team
members. Amir is also responsible for updating and maintaining logs for all RFI’s, Shop
Drawings/submittals, change directives (CD), Contractor Change Request (CCR),
Inspectors Job Memos, Inspectors Notices of Non-Compliance, Safety Notices, and all

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) – Airside Element Runway 24L-6R RSA,

LAWA is in the process of implementing modernization of the LAX airport. The
project is part of the federal government requiring US airports to improve the Runway
Safety Area (RSA) zone at the end of each runway. Airside Element Runway 24L-6R
RSA and 25R-7L RSA were part of this program. Amir’s duties and responsibilities
are the same as Airside Element Runway 24L-6R RSA.
Port of Long Beach (POLB) – Middle Harbor Terminal Redevelopment Program,
Marine Ops / Power Shop Building and Slip Fill Projects, Long Beach, CA
PROJECT ENGINEER, 2014 – AUG 2015
Amir Pia served as Project Engineer on POLB Middle Harbor Redevelopment Program,
as part of Marine Operation and Power Shop Building and Slip Fill projects. The Marine
Ops & Power Shop Building involved Construction of a 14,000 S.F. 2-story, steel-framed
marine operations building and a 50,000 S.F. 2-story, steel maintenance and repair
building with automobile parking lot, internal terminal roadway, site improvements,
parameter security fence, landscaping, and site utilities. The Slip Fill project involved
demolition of the existing wharf and bulkhead systems, removal and disposal of treated
wood, marine excavation, dredging, placement of rock slope, wave protection,
installation of a temporary storm drain system, paving, and wick drains installation. Amir
was responsible for evaluating contractor’s change order request for merit, reviewing
and comparing the contractor’s proposed cost proposals and the third-party cost
estimates, investigating and resolving cost discrepancies, preparing independent

PROJECT SCHEDULER, 2015
LADWP Lower Franklin Reservoir No. 2 is a 360-million gallon reservoir in Beverly Hills, CA, which supplies
drinking water to about 375,000 people in Beverly Hills and western Los Angeles. This project consisted of
demolishing the existing Chafer lining, reservoir floating cover, and associated pipelines and electrical systems
and installing new CSPE floating cover & Chafer liner, inlet and outlet structures, concrete vaults, access
roadways, and other various site improvements on this 12 –acre site. Amir prepared the construction project
schedule, using Primavera P6, at the final design phase.
LADWP – River Supply Conduit, Lower Reach No. 3
PROJECT SCHEDULER, 2015
LADWP River Supply Conduit, Lower Reach No. 3 includes construction of over 10,600 lf of 97-inch diameter
welded steel pipe in the heavily populated area of Burbank, CA, using open-cut and tunneling construction
methods. Amir reviewed and analyzed the Contractor cost- and resource-loaded baseline schedule to confirm its
accuracy and reliability. Amir provided the schedule review comments in a written report to LADWP.
Metropolitan Water District (MWD) – F. E. Weymouth Water Treatment Plant Solar Generation Facility, La
Verne, CA

This 3 MW photovoltaic solar generation facility will have a 6.19-acre and 8.55-acre solar panel areas, including
ground-mount solar panels on fixed, single, or dual axis tracking platforms, equipment pads, canopies, inverters,
weather station, monitoring system, and other appurtenant work. Amir prepared the construction project
schedule for this project at the final design phase.

This project involved construction of one 3-story high school building with 19 classrooms over one level of
semi-subterranean parking structure for 47 cars, and B-Permit ramps and sidewalks valued at $22 million.
Amir served as Office Engineer where he was responsible for assisting in reviewing, processing, and
responding to Requests for Information and Submittals; maintaining project records by using Expedition,
documenting field different site conditions, preparing independent change order estimates and assisting with
change order negotiations, and processing change order documents. He was also responsible for
documenting field issues, attending the weekly progress meetings, documenting Contractor’s daily
construction progress, taking project photos, recording unforeseen field conditions, updating as-built
drawings, and assisting with project closeout tasks.

Nama Sang Sofeh Construction, Iran
PROJECT ENGINEER, 2008 – 2012
Mr. Pia provided project engineering services for three complete build-out residential concrete/masonry
buildings valued at $5M. In this role, Amir was responsible for reviewing the project scope and permit
requirements to establish the list of pre-construction activities and ensure completion of these activities in a
timely manner. He was also responsible for managing construction activities for excavation, grading,
concrete and masonry structures, site utilities, and building interior and exterior finishes. Amir reviewed the
proposed and existing grading plan, performed quantity take-off on the net borrow/waste, maintained as-built
drawings for all subsurface utilities, and coordinated with the governing agencies. He was also responsible
for coordinating and resolving field issues with the design engineer, creating and managing project schedule,
monitoring project budget and expenditures, and supervising the field crew.
Karestane Sepahan Construction, Iran
ASSISTANT PROJECT ENGINEER, 2004 – 2008
As Assistant Project Engineer for the construction contractor for three residential homes valued at $10M, Amir
was responsible for assisting the project engineer on a wide range of activities including continuously
monitoring the project budget and expenditures, coordinating and resolving field issues by collaborating with
the design engineer, creating and managing project schedule and supervising field crew. Amir’s duties also
included assisting in preparation and processing submittals and RFI’s and procuring construction materials.
He also prepared weekly and monthly progress reports for the client.
Deesman Prefab Concrete Factory, Iran
INTERN, 2003 – 2004
Mr. Pia served as an Intern at a prefabrication concrete factory where he assisted the Project Engineer in
monitoring daily field activities. Amir’s responsibilities included preparing modified constructions plans using
AutoCAD, coordinating daily field activities, procuring construction materials and maintaining daily progress
reports and photographs. He also assisted the Project Manager and Inspector with preparation of the final
punchlist and monitoring their resolution, and performing project cost control.
