MLS Efficiency
Next Sunday will begin another MLS season. The 2016
probably will be the best in history.
This survey aims to analyze which were the most efficient
clubs in MLS last season.
To define the efficiency was considered the total spending on
the most expensive players of each team and their
performance in the regular 2015 season.
The league allows teams to hire stars of world football, rule
"designated players." These star players receive wages well
above the salary cap.
The efficiency of each team is calculated by a simple
comparison:

The teams that spend more with their 3 most expensive
players were the Toronto FC, LA Galaxy, New York City,
Seattle Sounders and Orlando City.
However were not the teams that had the highest field
efficiency.
The graphs show for the Eastern Conference and Western
the efficiency position of each team.
The number in front of the teams is their position
in the final classification of its Conference and
the number at the end of each team, the
amounts spent with their 3 most expensive
players.
The 10-team Eastern Conference spent US$ 52.7 million
with its more expensive players, the 10 teams in the
Western Conference spent US$ 42.0 million.

The most efficient teams in MLS in 2015, were those who achieved
better results in the field without spending much with stars.
In the Eastern Conference the features were the NY Red Bulls,
Columbus Crew, DC United and Montreal Impact.
These teams had much more efficiently than the more spent with
stars as Toronto FC New York City and Orlando City.
In the Western Conference the most efficient were the FC Dallas,
Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers.
The Seattle Sounders was the only one among the most spent and to
register a better position.
