This is a presentation on an Illness in current generation. Many people are selfie addict, this cause accidents, by taking selfie they put themselves in trouble. It is a mental disorder called SELFITIS.

The first selfie in human history was
taken by an American chemist Robert
Cornelius (an American pioneer in
photography) in 1839.
The term “selfie” was discussed by
photographer Jim Krause in 2005.
4. According to American Psychiatric Association (APA) (2014)
• The act of taking many selfie can be consider as a Mental
disorder
• The disorder has been labeled SELFITIS.
• It is defined as an obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to
take photo of oneself and publish it onto social media like
WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and others.

Loose self-confidence
Taking a lot of selfies may be make
you MENTALLY ILL.
6. Borderline Selfitis : Take photos at least 3 times a day
but don’t necessarily to post them on social media.
Acute Selfitis : Taking photos of oneself atleast 3 times
a day and posting each of the photos on social media.
Chronic Selfitis : “Uncontrollable urge” to take photos
of one’s self round the clock and posting the photos on
social media more than six times a day.
7. Case A :
A teenager became so obsessed with
taking the perfect selfie that he tried to kill himself
when his efforts failed.
Danny Bowman, 19, would spend 10 hours a day
taking up to 200 photos of himself on his iPhone.
The teenager dropped out of school, remained
housebound for six months and lost two stone in an
attempt to capture the perfect selfie.
Danny eventually became so depressed that he took
an overdose, but he was discovered by his mother
Penny and rushed to hospital.
8. India has most selfie deaths
On January 2016 in a socking incident Mumbai girls fall into sea while
clicking selfie. A man rescued two girls while one died. Man who was
rescuing these girls also remained un-tracked.

9. • Try limiting your sharing at-least for a bit.
• Instead of immediately posting, keep them on your phone to look at
later, or just send them to a best friend or a significant other.
•At the moment there is no cure for the disorder, but apparently
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be considered as a temporary
therapy.
10. Before doing something, make sure its safe and know the limit.
Different research have been conducted and the results reveal
that selfies are linked with different mental disorder.
