4. Pomegranates
Pomegranates are among the healthiest fruits
on earth.
They contain a range of beneficial plant
compounds, unrivaled by other foods.
Many studies have shown that they have
incredible benefits for your body, and may
lower the risk of all sorts of diseases

7. Pomegranates packed with
antioxidants:
Pomegranates are full of potent
antioxidants such as
polyphenols and anthocyanins,
which are also present in red
wine. These good-for-you
compounds protect the body
from damage caused by free
radicals, which may in turn lower
your risk of developing harmful
conditions like atherosclerosis (a
buildup of plaque in the arteries)
and cancer.
8. Pomegranates may soothe sore
muscles:
Early research suggests
drinking pomegranate
juice might help relieve
muscle weakness and
soreness in certain parts
of the body, such as
the elbow flexors
9. Pomegranates may lower bad
cholesterol:
Antioxidants help reduce
the “bad” kind of
cholesterol, called low-
density lipoprotein (LDL).
Since pomegranate juice
contains more antioxidants
than many other fruit juices,
it’s thought that the dark red
drink may help lower your
cholesterol
10. Pomegranates keep you looking
young
Turns out, pomegranates
aren’t just for eating (or
drinking). The tart fruit is
also packed with anti-
aging compounds that
make it the perfect
ingredient for a
DIY exfoliating skin
scrub.

12. Pomegranates and
Alzheimer’s disease protection
The antioxidants in the
juice and their high
concentration are
believed to stall the
progress of Alzheimer
disease and protect
memory
13. Pomegranates and Digestion
Pomegranate juice can
reduce inflammation in the
gut and improve digestion. It
may be beneficial for people
with Crohn’s disease,
ulcerative colitis, and other
inflammatory bowel diseases.
While there are conflicting
beliefs and research on
whether pomegranate juice
helps or worsens diarrhea,
most doctors recommend
avoiding it until you are
feeling better and your
symptoms have subsided.
14. Pomegranates are Anti-
inflammatory
Pomegranate juice is a
powerful anti-
inflammatory because of
its high concentration of
antioxidants. It can help
reduce inflammation
throughout the body and
prevent oxidative stress
and damage.
15. Pomegranate and Arthritis
Flavonols in pomegranate
juice may help block the
inflammation that
contributes to osteoarthritis
and cartilage damage. The
juice is currently being
studied for its potential
effects on osteoporosis,
rheumatoid arthritis, and
other types of arthritis and
joint inflammation.
16. Pomegranate and Heart disease
Pomegranate juice is in the running
as the most heart-healthy juice. It
appears to protect the heart and
arteries. Small studies have shown
that the juice improves blood flow
and keeps the arteries from
becoming stiff and thick. It may also
slow the growth of plaque and
buildup of cholesterol in the arteries.
But pomegranate may react
negatively with blood pressure and
cholesterol medications like statins.
Be sure to talk with your doctor
before indulging in the juice or taking
a
17. Pomegranate Fight Bacterial Infections
Pomegranates contain hundreds of
different bioactive compounds,
including ellagic acid, ellagitannins,
punicic acid, flavonoids,
anthocyanidins, anthocyanins,
estrogenic flavonols and flavones,
which appear to be the most
therapeutically beneficial
pomegranate components.
Pomegranate extracts have been
used since ancient times to treat
several conditions, including parasitic
and microbial infections, diarrhea,
ulcers, aphthae, hemorrhage and
respiratory complications
18. Pomegranate Natural Aphrodisiac
In many cultures, pomegranates
have been associated with fertility
and abundance for centuries
because of their many, many seeds,
but in recent years, headlines are
even raving about
pomegranate’s viagra effect. A study
by Queen Margaret University in
Edinburgh found that consumption of
pure pomegranate juice significantly
increased salivary testosterone
levels (average of 24 percent) in
addition to positive effects on blood
pressure and mood. Elevated
testosterone can lead to heightened
moods and increased sexual desire
19. Pomegranate are Antiviral
Between the vitamin C and
other immune-boosting
nutrients like vitamin E,
pomegranate juice can
prevent illness and fight off
infection. Pomegranates
have also been shown to be
antibacterial and antiviral in
lab tests. They are being
studied for their effects on
common infections and
viruses.
20. Pomegranate a remedy of Diabetes
Pomegranate was
traditionally used as a
remedy for diabetes in
the Middle East and
India. While much is still
unknown about the
effects of pomegranate
on diabetes, it may help
decrease insulin
resistance and lower
blood suga
21. Pomegranate Endurance and sports
performance
ove over, tart cherry and
beet juice. Pomegranate
juice may be the new
sport performance
enhancer. The juice may
help reduce soreness
and improve strength
recovery. It also
decreases oxidative
damage caused by
exercise.
23. Pomegranate Sexual performance
and fertility
Pomegranate juice’s concentration of
antioxidants and ability to impact
oxidative stress make it a potential
fertility aid. Oxidative stress has been
shown to cause sperm dysfunction
and decrease fertility in women. The
juice has also been shown to help
reduce oxidative stress in the
placenta. But researchers don’t yet
know the exact benefits this may
provide. Drinking pomegranate juice
can also increase testosterone levels
in men and women, one of the
main hormones behind sex drive.
24. Pomegranate lowers Blood pressure
Drinking pomegranate
juice daily may also help
lower systolic blood
pressure. But more
studies need to be done to
determine if pomegranate
juice can decrease overall
blood pressure in the long
term.
25. Pomegranate may benefit
your dental health
Small studies have shown
that pomegranate juice
can target bacteria in the
mouth, so you suffer
from less dental plaque.
26. Pomegranate has anti-angiogenic
properties
Meaning that they may
help to prevent
growing tumors from
acquiring a blood
supply, preventing
those tumors from
receiving the nutrients
that would allow them
to grow large
27. Pomegranate reduces breast
cancer
Pomegranate is one of
the few foods
(mushrooms are
another) that contain
natural aromatase
inhibitors. This means
that they inhibit the
production of estrogen,
which can reduce
breast cancer risk.
28. Pomegranate and prostate
After treatment for
prostate cancer, two
studies have shown
that pomegranate juice
or supplements slowed
the increase in PSA.
31. Pomegranate Reduces
atherosclerotic plaque
In a study of patients with
severe carotid artery
blockages, after one ounce
of pomegranate juice daily
for one year, there was a 30
percent reduction in. In
striking contrast, in the
participants who did not
take the pomegranate juice
atherosclerotic plaque
increased by 9 percent.
32. Pomegranate and memory
Pomegranate
supplements taken
before and after
surgery prevented the
postoperative memory
dysfunction associated
with coronary artery
bypass or heart valve
surgery.
33. Pomegranate as Memory Booster
In those with mild
memory complaints,
individuals drinking
pomegranate juice
daily performed better
on a memory task
compared to placebo
and displayed
increased brain
activation measured by
functional MRI.17
