In 1937, Patrick McDonald opened "The Airdrome", a
food stand
The restaurant was renamed "McDonald's Bar-B-Q“
by his two sons, Maurice and Richard in in San
Bernardino, California
First expand in 1953, in Phoenix, Arizona with Neil Fox
with one-time fee of $1,000.
The brothers' goal was to make one million dollars
before they were fifty.
At first, they only franchised the system, rather than
the name and atmosphere of
their restaurant.
Later, the brothers started
franchising the entire concept.

more than 34,000 local restaurants, serving
approximately 69 million people, in 118
countries each day.
More than 80% of it is owned and operated
by independent local men and women.
Nearly 59% are conventional franchisees
21% are licensed to foreign affiliates or
developmental licensees
Nearly 20% are Company-operated

Today, McDonald’s has 72 branches in
Kuwait, and more than 2,000 employees with
around 25-30 employee in each branch,
working to two or three shifts.

Entrepreneur Magazine – Every year, Entrepreneur
Magazine lists its Franchise 500. Over the last several
years McDonald’s has been recognized as one of the
Top 10 Franchises.
Franchise Times Magazine – McDonald’s has been
ranked #1 on its list of top 200 franchises.
USA Today – McDonald’s has been selected by the
National Minority Franchise Initiative (NMFI) as one of the
50 Top Franchises for Minorities.
Black Enterprise Magazine – McDonald’s was listed as
one of the 40 best Franchises for African Americans.
