  2. Dear Friend, Your generosity toward Michigan Athletics and support of athletic endowment funds has allowed our coaches and student-athletes to pursue their commitment to excellence. Endowment funds are vital to the long-term sustainability and success of our student-athletes and staff. By establishing or supporting an athletic or coaching endowment, you are creating a lasting legacy of permanent support to the University of Michigan. I am pleased to share our endowment report for the 2019-20 academic year which details how your contributions were able to impact the lives of endowment recipients across campus. This past fiscal year we were able to distribute over $5.4 million from endowment funds to provide opportunities for the leaders and best to excel in the classroom and on the field. It is truly heartening to see that the loyalty and support from our alumni and friends matches our student-athletes’ dedication to excellence. I would like to express my deep appreciation for your commitment to Michigan Athletics, and thank you for your everlasting support. Go Blue! Warde Manuel Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics
  3. An endowment is planted when one of our generous donors, like you, gives a major gift. Every year, the endowment fund grows and produces income. This is how your endowment can fund a scholarship for years to come. While the principal is held and your investment strengthens the foundation of Michigan Athletics, a portion of the interest income is granted annually in your name to directly support our student-athletes in the form of an endowed scholarship. 8. HAILeY BROWN Women’s Basketball Communications Major Class of 2021 YOUR IMPACT Building leaders Being a communications and media studies major, my career path interests are widespread. I’m interested in broadcasting, journalism, public relations (which strongly reflect my major), but I am also strongly pursuing marketing and interior design as well. Once I graduate from Michigan, I’m planning on getting a job or internship in one of those fields. Being a student-athlete here has helped me a lot based on the resources, opportunities and experiences I have had. Michigan alumni are everywhere and more so Michigan student-athlete alumni — this has been a huge benefit for me as networking is extremely important in the industries I want to work in.”
  9. YOUR IMPACT Building leaders Daniel Butael Men’s Track and Field Computer Science Major Class of 2021 I plan on dedicating the first year to track and field in order to bring myself to an Olympic level. If everything works out well I would like to pursue the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. I also plan on working in the first year partially as a computer scientist in order to gain experience in the field. In addition, I will try to get involved in several entrepreneurial actions such real-estate, selling on Amazon and stock markets. My experience as a student-athlete first of all allowed me to improve as an athlete and put me in a position to pursue the Olympics. In addition, by learning how to manage academics and athletics I gained confidence in my ability to work in several streams and be more productive. That’s why I think about not just doing computer science but also entrepreneurship.”
