in New Jersey and across the
country that increase
requirements for maternity care
patients in hospitals.

❖ New Jersey hospitals currently
rank 11th
in the nation for overall
quality and 4th
for patient safety
according to annual reports by the
United Health Foundation and The
Leapfrog Group, respectively.
❖ 18 hospitals in New Jersey were
recipients of the Healthgrades
Maternity Care Excellence Award
(2014).
❖NJ is ranked 6th
in the U.S. for
lowest rates of infant mortality
according to the United Health
Foundation.

with Chief Nursing

help amend
legislation.
Facilitate
Dialogue
NJHA will evaluate the success of
this project through follow-up of
surveys, continued tracking of new
legislative bills pertaining to
maternity care, and through
continued dialogue with member
providers and legislators.

all existing state and federal
hospital notifications.
❖ A comprehensive list of
documents that hospitals are
providing for new mothers.
❖ Guidance for more efficient
regulations:
1. Notification at time of
prenatal care.
2. Notification at time of
postnatal care.
