INTRODUCTION
A project report on “Financial Planning & Strategy” is specifically designed as
per the industry standards
All companies are having their own planning and business strategies but the
company who is having the best, is the most successful company among its
competitors. So the company can get success within its competitors by
applying best and effective financial planning and strategies.
There is a strong MNC presence in the Indian care segment market. The Fast
Moving small car segment is the third largest sector in the economy with a
total market size in excess of Rs 80,000 crore. This industry essentially
comprises small, medium and large car products and caters to the everyday
need of the population.
The project will study the availability, visibility and category movement of
Maruti Udyog Limited.
A detailed study and research work is done by collecting and analyzing the
primary data obtained from car segment to enhance the Project Report.
Industry Profile
The automobile industry has emerged as a sunrise sector in the Indian
economy. It embarked on a new journey in 1991 with de-licensing of the
sector and subsequently opening up for 100% FDI through the automatic
route. The automobiles production has increased at a CAGR of 13.2% over
FY05-12 while the automobiles export volumes increased at a CAGR of
22.4% over the same period. The Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public
Enterprises has come up with Automotive Mission Plan 2006-2016 that
envisages the automobiles sector to be worth USD 145 billion in 2016
contributing around 10% to the GDP and providing an additional
employment of 25 million. But owing to the recent sluggish economy, the
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has revised the
estimates to USD 111 billion by 2016.
Company profile: Maruti Suzuki
Established in December 1983, Maruti Suzuki
India Ltd. has ushered a revolution in the Indian
car industry. This car is meant for an average
Indian individual which is affordable as well as has
elegant appeal. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is the
result of collaboration of Maruti with Suzuki of
Japan. At this time, the Indian car market had
stagnated at a volume of 30,000 to 40,000 cars for
the decade ending 1983. This was from where
Maruti took over.
The company has crossed the milestone of
becoming the first Indian company in March 1994,
by manufacturing in totality one million vehicles. It
is known for its mass- production and selling of
more than a million cars. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
is the India's largest automobile company which
entered in the market with affirmed aim to render
high quality fuel – efficient and low - cost vehicles.
Maruti Udyog was renamed to
Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Both in
terms of volume of vehicles sold and
revenue earned, the company is
India's leading automobile
manufacturers and the market leader
in the car segment. Sales recorded in
June 2010, is Rs. 4,753.58 crores and
in March 2011, is Rs. 5,278.32 crores.

the seventh largest manufacturer

• The Two Wheelers segment
dominates the market in terms of
volume owing to a growing
middle class and a young

growing interest of the
companies in exploring the rural
markets further aided the growth
of the sector.

exporter and has strong export
growth expectations for the near

NEED OF STUDY
Financial statements (or financial reports) are formal records of a business'
financial activities.
In British English, including United Kingdom company law, financial statements
are often referred to as accounts, although the term financial statement is also used,
particularly by accountants.
Financial statements provide an overview of a business' financial condition in both
short and long term. There are four basic financial statements:
Balance sheet: also referred to as statement of financial position or condition,
reports on a company's assets, liabilities and net equity as of a given point in time.
Income statement: also referred to as Profit and Loss statement (or a "P&L"),
reports on a company's results of operations over a period of time.
Statement of retained earnings: explains the changes in a company's retained
earnings over the reporting period.
Statement of cash flows: reports on a company's cash flow activities, particularly
its operating, investing and financing activities.
OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
The objective of Financial Analysis and Strategy is to provide information
about the financial strength, performance and changes in financial position of
an enterprise that is useful to a wide range of users in making economic
decisions." Financial statements should be understandable, relevant, reliable
and comparable. Reported assets, liabilities and equity are directly related to an
organization's financial position. Reported income and expenses are directly
related to an organization's financial performance.
Financial statements are intended to be understandable by readers who have
"a reasonable knowledge of business and economic activities and accounting
and who are willing to study the information diligently."
SCOPE OF STUDY
Financial statement analysis is the process of examining relationships among
financial statement elements and making comparisons with relevant
information. It is a valuable tool used by investors and creditors, financial
analysts, and others in their decision- making processes related to stocks,
bonds, and other financial instruments.
The goal in analyzing financial statements is to assess past performance and
current financial position and to make predictions about the future
performance of a company. Investors who buy stock are primarily interested in
a company's profitability and their prospects for earning a return on their
investment by receiving dividends and/or increasing the market value of their
stock holdings. Creditors and investors who buy debt securities, such as bonds,
are more interested in liquidity and solvency: the company's short-and long-
run ability to pay its debts. Financial analysts, who frequently specialize in
following certain industries, routinely assess the profitability, liquidity, and
solvency of companies in order to make recommendations about the purchase
or sale of securities, such as stocks and bonds.
LIMITATIONS
• Marked by Maruti Udyog Ltd. Does not meet the varied
demands of their vast segment products in their unique
identities and visions, their economic vitality.
• Future population and economic growth, in the region and
beyond, will increase manufacturing demand and further
exacerbate this problem.
• Maruti Udyog Ltd. Needs to enhance their technology in
order to keep their largest marketing share in India intact.
• This project will certainly help to address the forthcoming
issues, by doing the calculative and appropriate financial
planning and using right strategies at right time.
CONCLUSIONS
Conclusion: Financial analysis determines a company's health and
stability, providing an understanding of how the company conducts its
business. ... Hence, we must conclude that financial statement
analysis is only one of the tools (although a major one) while taking
an investment decision.
Maruti has been consistent and strong performer on stock exchange,
giving handsome returns to investor.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. company has trend of growth from 2012
to 2016. The Profits had an upsurge in 2016.
Today, Maruti Suzuki alone makes 1.5 million Maruti Suzuki
family cars every year. That is one car every 12 seconds.
From above facts and Figures we reach to the conclusion that the
future is exciting and full of promise
RECOMMENDATIONS
They are forward looking: Accrued results of the past year /
quarter
Company’s value depends on its future profitability which
depends on many factors not reflected in the balance sheet,
which are non-monetary
 Nature and innovativeness of it product
 Technology landscape (product obsolescence)
 Competitors
Economic conditions (recession / boom), government policies
Staff and management morale

  • 10. NEED OF STUDY Financial statements (or financial reports) are formal records of a business' financial activities. In British English, including United Kingdom company law, financial statements are often referred to as accounts, although the term financial statement is also used, particularly by accountants. Financial statements provide an overview of a business' financial condition in both short and long term. There are four basic financial statements: Balance sheet: also referred to as statement of financial position or condition, reports on a company's assets, liabilities and net equity as of a given point in time. Income statement: also referred to as Profit and Loss statement (or a "P&L"), reports on a company's results of operations over a period of time. Statement of retained earnings: explains the changes in a company's retained earnings over the reporting period. Statement of cash flows: reports on a company's cash flow activities, particularly its operating, investing and financing activities.
  • 11. OBJECTIVES OF STUDY The objective of Financial Analysis and Strategy is to provide information about the financial strength, performance and changes in financial position of an enterprise that is useful to a wide range of users in making economic decisions." Financial statements should be understandable, relevant, reliable and comparable. Reported assets, liabilities and equity are directly related to an organization's financial position. Reported income and expenses are directly related to an organization's financial performance. Financial statements are intended to be understandable by readers who have "a reasonable knowledge of business and economic activities and accounting and who are willing to study the information diligently."
  • 12. SCOPE OF STUDY Financial statement analysis is the process of examining relationships among financial statement elements and making comparisons with relevant information. It is a valuable tool used by investors and creditors, financial analysts, and others in their decision- making processes related to stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments. The goal in analyzing financial statements is to assess past performance and current financial position and to make predictions about the future performance of a company. Investors who buy stock are primarily interested in a company's profitability and their prospects for earning a return on their investment by receiving dividends and/or increasing the market value of their stock holdings. Creditors and investors who buy debt securities, such as bonds, are more interested in liquidity and solvency: the company's short-and long- run ability to pay its debts. Financial analysts, who frequently specialize in following certain industries, routinely assess the profitability, liquidity, and solvency of companies in order to make recommendations about the purchase or sale of securities, such as stocks and bonds.
