Project proposal title and date:
Photography Magazine FMP
Main area of activity:
Photography
Video
Graphic Design
Rationale:
1st Project: The ‘Who Is It? (The Talking Heads)’ lip sync music video.
2nd Project: ‘The Key Movie’. It involved someone finding a key and trying to figure out what it
unlocks.
3rd Project: The Hip To Be Square Music Video which involved Harry Statham & Alexis Ratcliffe
being the performers.
4th Project: The Shaun Of The Dead Foley Clip. For this we had a short clip from a Zombie /
Comedy film, and we had to add sound into the background for the different actions.
5th Project: The Murky Midnight Monstrosity Audio Project. In this project we had to research horror
stories and local myths, to then read them and be inspired to write a short story.
6th Project: The Pixel Art Project. At the start of this project, we had to create an adventure movie
concept. In the second half of the project, we had to make a video game concept based off the
movie.
From this academic year, I picked up and improved on a lot of skills.
For example:
Using Photoshop more confidently and making better quality work.
Using Premier Pro more confidently and strongly.
I will be using a lot of these skills whilst doing my next project – Photography Magazine FMP.
The adventure film project will be similar because I had to design what I wanted the poster and
magazine pages to look like. I will need to do this for the FMP.
Project Concept:
I am planning on making a Photography Magazine. It will involve reviews for different brands of
cameras, tips for the different types of photography, and some of my own photos for that type /
style of photography. I was also thinking that I might make a short advert for a photography and
wildlife tv show. Just to have another thing to higher the chance of me getting a higher grade.
For the magazine, I will have to make a magazine front cover, some inside pages to show of the
photos, to present the tips, and to review the cameras. I will also probably have to make a back
page to the magazine.
During the experiment week, I will need to try-out using a few pieces of software on some practice
images. I will need to make some double page spread layout designs, for me to see what I think
would look good for the magazine. I will need to conduct research to find out places where I could
take the pictures, if that place is open (Fairburn Ings), and if I can get there. I would need to
conduct research regarding the photography tips and which cameras that I would be reviewing.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I plan to evaluate my work as I progress through the project.
I plan to conduct daily reflections.
I plan to conduct a reflection when I finish a task or group of tasks.
I think that this will be a good habit to get into for me as I move forward with my media career.

Tasks to be Completed: Specific Tasks
1 Initial plans, background
research & proposal
Brainstorm ideas for the project.
Write my proposal for the project.
Create mood boards.
Create influence / inspiration slides.
Write down: Why I am making this project, My
Hopes for the FMP, My Strengths and
Limitations, and Potential Research Activities.
2 Research- primary and
secondary
[Audience/Existing
products]
I should conduct research about who I think my
magazine should be aimed at.
I should look at existing products to see if I can
get any ideas from them – design, layout, extra
information.
3 Research- primary and
secondary
[Production
Techniques/Experiments]
I should research about photography tips for me
when I am in the production stage.
I should research camera settings and lenses.
I should experiment using editing software and
try-out taking some pictures in different locations.
I should research about how to use different
pieces of software in a more effective way.
4 Pre-Production and
planning
I should design magazine double page spread
layouts, magazine front covers and back covers.
I should plan out everything that I am going to
do, but I will not make it strict, as most of my
photography is based on how good the weather
is.
5 Production and reflections Taking pictures for different styles of
photography.
Gathering photography tips to add into the
magazine.
Creating Daily Reflections on what I have done.
