 Bank of England policymaker Kristin Forbes said the lat-
est economic data suggested Britain's economy would
grow faster than the central bank had forecast last month,
with momentum potentially carrying through into
2017.Last week the central bank said the economy was
likely to have slowed less than it forecast just after June's
European Union referendum, and on Thursday Forbes
said there were signs the BoE might need to revise up its
longer-term forecasts in November."There is more mo-
mentum in the economy in the second half of this year.
We'll be starting next year on a stronger footing so there
will be some automatic translation," she said in a question
and answer session after speaking at Imperial College,
London.
 Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso said on Friday that
the government must tackle structural reform and carry
out its plans to spur the economy, following the Bank of
Japan's decision to reboot its monetary policy frame-
work.The BOJ on Wednesday shifted to targeting interest
rates on Japanese government bonds as the focus of its
massive monetary easing program, dropping its explicit
target of increasing base money.Aso said the government
should not rely solely on the central bank to boost the
economy and defeat deflation. The BOJ's new framework
won't have an immediate impact on government bond
markets, he added.
COMMODITY BUZZ
 Crude prices fell in Asia on Friday, retracing recent gains
built on a surprise stockpile drop and looking ahead to U.S.
with rig count data slated.Crude oil for November delivery
on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell 1.08% to $45.82
a barrel. on the ICE Futures Exchange in London, Brent
oil for November delivery dipped 0.84% to $47.25 a barrel-
Last week, oilfield services provider Baker Hughes said the
number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. rose by 2 to 416,
marking the 11th increase in 12 weeks.Overnight, oil
prices extended sharp overnight gains during North Ameri-
can hours on Thursday, as a broadly weaker U.S. dollar and
easing concerns over a slowdown inU.S. crude demand
boosted sentiment.
 Crude oil prices were mostly steady in Asia on Friday, cap-
ping for now recent gains made as The Fed held steady and
the Bank of Japan took a new tack on easing this week.Gold
for December delivery on the Comex division of the New
York Mercantile Exchange showed small gains and losses
on Friday, last trading at $1,340.95 a troy ounce, up
0.02%.Overnight, gold prices extended overnight gains
during North America's session on Thursday, touching a
fresh two-week peak as the U.S. dollar sold off after the
Federal Reserve held off on raising interest rates and scaled
back the number of rate hikes it expects next year.
