Remedial Teaching
General Objectives
At the end of the remedial teaching program, the client
should be able to:
Develop letter/word recognition
Improve difficulty in reading
Accurately identify basic colors
Use/identify correctly basic punctuation marks
Acquire the concept about prints
Follow simple instructions that are given
Specific Objectives

The client should be able to identify vowels and consonant
letters and its sounds. Also to have prior knowledge about
words that is common to his environment.
The client is expected to read words base on his own
perception and spell out common words according to his level
of understanding.
The client should have a clear understanding about colors and
would precisely identify the sky as blue and not as violet.
The client should be able to use basic punctuation marks such as
periods, comma, question marks and perhaps exclamation point,
quotation marks and apostrophe according to their own uses and
purpose.
The client should be able to pinpoint each part of the story
accurately.
The client should also learn how to follow simple instructions like
encircling or underlining the correct answer.
 Profile of the client
 After several diagnostic tests that were
conducted, I grabbed the opportunity to meet
the client’s guardian and asks to have an
interview in which questions were queried
about the client’s profile and parents. The
following data were gathered:

 Conclusion
This remedial intervention is really hard to do because it takes a real effort to
achieve such objectives or goals set for the client. But it isn’t that hard if a remedial
teacher only has the passion, the desire, determination, perseverance, diligence to
help the client improve or learn through you. This also is a big help for us future
teachers to exercise our future jobs or responsibility to those students who are
most in need of us.
Since that this intervention is running out of time or shall I say in hurry because
the end of the semester is approaching, we students from the College of Education
should really make time, exert effort to make this program a successful one. For
me since I am loaded during Mondays and Wednesdays, I decided to attend the
remedial program for only Tuesdays and Thursdays and if there is no schedule for
Saturday I will be going to the client’s residence to teach him there for a few hours
only, enough time just not to make him bored or something that would blow his
interest in learning.
I am sure for a reason that the client will be excited to do interaction with
me and knowing that we will be having several things to do that would
surely boost his enthusiasm. I am making sure that this remedial teaching
will be successful at the end of the day.
 Recommendation
The Client
The client show interest in learning and he is very positive. Although he
has this difficulty in remembering, for example his lessons or his assignments, he
has a big capability to stand among others. If only the clients has this confidence
because as I can see during our diagnostic tests he is shy whenever he has this
ideas about for example reading a word, he is shy to reveal it may be because he
is frequently bullied by his classmates telling him that having a tutor means that
he is stupid or something that other students is an advantage. I told the client that
it is okay, anyway you are special because you will learn a lot of things.” He
started to have this courage and braveness to face whatever tomorrow brings and
started to get excited for our future lessons. I recommend that he should practice
more to help him improve. Because if he will just depend on me, that I will teach
him all the way through, his knowledge won’t get larger, because if a child begins
to be curious about his surroundings, that’s the time when he will learn new set of
things that he won’t acquire at school.
The Parent
Since the client’s parents were away, I recommend that his
guardian would help him review his lessons every day and help him
do his assignments not really that the guardian would do all of his
assignments but at the same time teach him also so that next time
he will be able to answer it since he has already the idea. The
guardian’s should not just depend that the child will learn everything
in school because there are a lot of things also that could only be
acquired at home and never in school and these are those things
which is really essential to the child’s learning and growing up. The
guardian also should motivate the child and use the authority of
discipline to help the child be fully founded.
 The Teacher
The teacher is doing its best to help the child learn in school but at a sort of
reasons like because of the number of pupils inside the classroom as a teacher
maybe it is really hard to manage such things but I would recommend that the
teacher would give more motivation for the child to learn and do not depend on
others like they shouldn’t just agree that their classmates would acquire such
knowledge and they and far behind it. The pupils of course as child were naughty
and are more interested in playing than in learning it is because they find it
boring. With that, perhaps the teacher would do new approaches or methods of
learning so that they would capture the pupil’s attention and interest in learning.
This could also lessen their problem in disturbance of the class like while
teaching most of the pupils were very noisy, so then it will be answered by getting
all their senses by that, the pupils will really learn and at the same time will enjoy
learning.
The Administration
It’s a good thing that we have seen classrooms today that are
beautified to help students have favorable environment physically.
There’s another problem I see that should also be attended. The
number of pupils in each classroom is really difficult to manage. I
recommend that the administration would divide such numbers
equally so that the pupils can have a conducive learning
environment and also with this, the teacher will improve in
teaching the pupils and watch their moves because it is really easy
to handle classes that have lesser number of pupils. It is also the
advantage of every pupil.
Thank you for listening!

With that, perhaps the teacher would do new approaches or methods of learning so that they would capture the pupil’s attention and interest in learning. This could also lessen their problem in disturbance of the class like while teaching most of the pupils were very noisy, so then it will be answered by getting all their senses by that, the pupils will really learn and at the same time will enjoy learning.

There’s another problem I see that should also be attended. The number of pupils in each classroom is really difficult to manage. I recommend that the administration would divide such numbers equally so that the pupils can have a conducive learning environment and also with this, the teacher will improve in teaching the pupils and watch their moves because it is really easy to handle classes that have lesser number of pupils. It is also the advantage of every pupil.
