ADITYA VIKRAM SINGH
734-757-3580; avsingh@umich.edu: 1929 Plymouth Road, #2011: Ann Arbor, MI 48105
OBJECTIVE
Seeking full-time opportunity starting February 2017 in the field of Engine & Powertrain Control
EDUCATION
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI September 2015-December 2016(Expected)
M.E., Automotive Engineering - GPA: 4.0/4.0
National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, India July 2010-May 2014
B. Tech, Mechanical Engineering - GPA: 3.8/4.0
WORK EXPERIENCE
IAV Automotive Engineering Inc., Northville, MI May 2016-December 2016
Calibration Optimization Intern (OBD, Diesel Systems Unit)
• Model based development of OBD monitors, analyzing the error in the model, developed algorithms based on
mathematical tools and techniques to automatically produce a near optimal calibration for OBD monitors
• Developed optimization algorithms to reduce error in model from 23% to just 5.47% hence increased the robustness
from 2 sigmas to 4.5 sigmas of an OBD monitor (CSERS) also reduced the calibration time from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 hours
by applying mathematical optimization techniques
• Developed new software logic for more robust control of OBD monitor (CSERS)
Tata Motors Limited, Lucknow, India August 2014-June 2015
Assistant Manager (Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing Unit)
• Implemented World Class Quality initiative and COMMWIP waste reduction initiative, developed improvements by
Design Change Requests for different models and streamlined the data acquisition and analysis process.
• Spearheaded Problem Solving team by implementing methodologies like Why-Why Root Cause Analysis, Swap Analysis
Defect Analysis and coached the Mechanical interns in engine (Cummins 6l, TC) teardown.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Fuel Economy Optimization of HDV, Navistar- University of Michigan November 2015- December 2016
• Modelling a Smart Cooling System for fuel economy optimization of inter-connected heavy duty trucks.
• Designing a control system for smart cooling by incorporating 2-speed fan, variable speed pump & variable flow thermostat
Walter. E. Lay Automotive Laboratory, University of Michigan August 2015 – December 2015
• Analysis of auto-ignition characteristics of different hydrocarbon and oxygenate fuels by Cetane Rating measurements as a
function of rating method conditions.
Hybrid Electric Vehicles Project, University of Michigan January 2016- March 2016
• Modelling the control system of a Power-Split Hybrid architecture and development of performance improving strategies.
Bachelor’s Thesis, National Institute of Technology July 2013-May 2014
• Improved the engine performance parameters, emissions concentration and emission temperature by using different
concentration of argon gas in the intake manifold of the engine keeping the oxygen concentration constant
Supra Team, National Institute of Technology June 2013-June 2014
• Designed the power-train of the first ever Supra car of our institute including plenum design, restrictor design and power-
train design so as to comply by the rules and get the best torque within specified speed limits
