Premium materials in a compact frame
The Huawei Honor 6 is an affordably-priced flagship
Features a unibody design with a glossy back panel and chrome edges
The back panel is prone to get smudged and scratched easily
It’s a single SIM device, and the slot is accessible by prying open the back panel
DESIGN
3. Delicious display we couldn’t take our eyes off
The Honor 6 sports a 5-inch display with Gorilla Glass and oleophobic coatings.
1080p resolution results in a pixel density of 445ppi.
The display is extremely responsive, and supports a Glove Mode too.
It’s vibrant and bright, but its reflective nature can distort viewing angles.
DISPLAY
4. Camera app is loaded to the gills with features
There’s a 13MP camera with a
Sony BSI sensor at the back,
and 5MP front shooter
Plenty of camera features,
including a Watermark mode,
Audio Control Mode and Best
Shot
The front camera has a wide-angle
mode, and a Selfie
Window to ensure you’re looking
directly at the camera
There’s also a full-fledged auto
mode, and the usual HDR,
Panorama and filters
CAMERA
5. But results are hit and miss
The results are unfortunately hit
and miss
The primary camera offers quick
shutter response time, and
captures good detail without much
grain
However, colours tend to be
washed out, and images in low
light are too dark to be usable
The front camera is fixed focus,
so selfies are often blurry and out
of focus

6. Emotion UI handles the software side
The Honor 6 runs Android
4.4.2 KitKat with Emotion
UI 2.3 on top
Emotion UI features a
redesigned interface,
plenty of manual controls
and a theme store
There’s no app drawer,
with all icons displayed on
the home screens itself
Magazine Unlock makes
for a dynamic lockscreen
with constantly changing
wallpapers
USER INTERFACE
7. And offers plenty of controls to tinker with
The Phone Manager app
is a dashboard that lets
you fine tune controls for
data use, memory, power,
notifications and more
Simple Home changes
your homescreen to an
easy-to-use layout
Motion Control lets you
enable various gestures
like flip to mute, raise to
ear to answer, shake to
rearrange icons, and more

8. A beast on the inside
In charge of performance is an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 920 processor, consisting of
two quad-core clusters clocked at 1.3GHz and 1.7GHz
With 3GB of RAM, performance was blazing fast, with no freezes or lags
Graphics-heavy games play like a breeze, thanks to the Mali T628-MP4 GPU
Out of the 16GB of onboard storage, a little over 11GB is available to use
PERFORMANCE
9. Battery that will last you the whole day
Fuelling the device is a
meaty 3,100mAh battery.
It easily lasts until the end
of the day with heavy use,
and until the next morning if
you’re a light user.
It lasted eight hours and 30
minutes in our video loop
battery drain test.
Apart from the usual Power
Saving modes, there’s also
a Screen Saving mode
which changes the display
resolution to 720p.

12. Pricing & Verdict
Price:
Rs 19,999
“The Honor 6 is in every way a true flagship,
impressing us in day-to-day performance, battery
life, display and software. The primary camera
wasn't the best we've come across in this category,
but it's still fairly capable and should suffice for
normal use. If you're looking for a true powerhorse
at a price that doesn't break the bank, the Honor 6
should be on your shortlist.”
