What's Changed with SharePoint in the Past Few Years and Why It MattersRichard Harbridge
Office 365 and SharePoint are evolving fast. A few years ago many of us may have begun modernizing our SharePoint environments - planning an upgrade or a migration to SharePoint 2013 or even SharePoint Online. Since that time many things have changed in both SharePoint Server and Office 365, not to mention within our organizations. New services have been added, and many of those services are improving with each passing month. What approaches, strategies and rollout models are other organizations using? What can we learn from their successes?
Join us for this facilitated and interactive discussion where instead of just looking forward, we look back into key changes that we all need to understand better. This discussion will be facilitated by Richard Harbridge, a Microsoft MVP, and internationally recognized expert on Office 365 and SharePoint. Together we will discuss what has changed in the past few years for developers, IT professionals, and SharePoint leads while exploring how organizations are leveraging these services in different ways today.

Empower The Power User by @KerriAbraham and @SharePointWendyWendy Neal
This session was presented at SharePoint Saturday Twin Cities on November 3, 2012. To get the full context and see the slide notes, please download the slides.
Accompanying video demos are on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxSc1uqWwEXkrus62m7vPEcX0-FAzj0Yj
Session Abstract: Kerri Abraham and Wendy Neal team up to deliver a comprehensive discussion on methods that can empower users while retaining control for IT and building valuable resources for the future. Focusing on the need for documentation at every level of SharePoint development, these two ladies combine forces to share their experiences and their goals in helping power users reach their full potential. Being blocked from SharePoint Designer throughout most of her SharePoint experience, Kerri shares her insight and bold opinions about how others may work to overcome the same restrictions in their work environment by documenting their work and building trust with IT. Wendy adds balance to Kerri’s opinions by showcasing how she has worked toward this end with the users she supports, using the same techniques Kerri outlines in the book chapter she wrote with the same name. Showcasing how OneNote can be used in combination with SharePoint content types within a library, Kerri and Wendy will outline how users can build a SharePoint ‘Rudder’ to guide ongoing learning and provide resources for future platform support.
iStart - Sharepoint: Getting to the pointHayden McCall
Information overload. It defines the age we live in. Distraction,
clutter, and search angst are daily productivity killers causing
headaches and wasting hours.
Believe the disciples, and Microsoft’s SharePoint is on the
cusp of greatness, bringing order to clutter, collaboration to
fragmentation and timeliness to information and decision
making. But listen to the unconverted and it’s badly designed,
slow and another marketing snow job holding together the
Microsoft stack.
Your IT department probably already has the product, so iStart
canvassed a couple of experts on implementing SharePoint to
help you decide if it is a fit for wider use within your business…
SharePoint, the usual elephant in the room, typically gets positioned as such, as for the most part, the IT department is tasked with the deployment and configuration thereof. In this session we will show users how to get the most out of the product and in so, address the following:
SharePoint adoption has always been an elusive goal for many organizations. It is critical for the whole organization to buy into the SharePoint initiatives and adopt it fully.

Is SharePoint working for you, or are you working for SharePoint..?
Why do many end users cringe when they hear the word 'SharePoint'? It's not because SharePoint is a bad platform (quite the contrary actually), it's because of their past experiences with SharePoint.
This webinar explored how you can make your users fall in Love with SharePoint and drive end user adoption in your organization!
No matter how well designed your SharePoint intranet is, if it’s not used by employees then it won’t add value. However, SharePoint adoption remains a challenge for many companies, with low usage levels and functionality that often ignored as old practices persist. In this session Sam Marshall will guide you through a range of techniques for improving the use of your intranet.
• Why is SharePoint adoption challenging?
• What strategies have leading companies used to successfully introduce social tools?
• How much should we rely on managers and leaders to drive intranet adoption?
• How can you get away from 'big bang' launches?
• How can we encourage people to create content and interact, rather than just reading it?

Deploying Office 365 with success can be a painful and difficult experience. As you already know, it is not exactly a technical project. Communication skills and pace are essential to reach success and adoption.
In this session, we share the lessons we have learnt deploying Office 365 in a great number of organisations – from small ones to the biggest multinational companies.

Major topics to train your users on.
How to make them understand the real nature of Office 365 and Microsoft innovation.
Technologies covered will be: Microsoft Teams, Office as a Service, Microsoft Graph, SharePoint (and more).
So, you will learn from our experience what works – and maybe most importantly, what has not worked.
This will help you and your customers (internal and external) to accelerate and get the quickest path to success.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
