2. How the climate of Roman politics contributed
to the development of the First or Second
Triumvirate
The climate of the Roman politics helped develop the
Triumvirates because it all started when Caesar was
seeking election as consul, but he was facing several
strong opponents. So Caesar decided to get the help
from his ally Crassus. And because Pompey believed
that Caesar could help him achieve some goals like land
reform for war veterans, he then also agreed to join the
alliance.
3. Who Is He?
Ceaser is known today for
the fall of the Roman
Republic and for being
elected for life. He first
started out as a military
genius. Caesar was born
into a noble family in 102
BC, but just because he’s
from a noble family doesn't
mean that they had a large
amount of money. The most
important event that has
happened in his life is that
when he started gaining a
lot of money, he was
elected consul in 59 BC.
4. Political Office and Social Status
After Caesar was elected as Consul and formed an
alliance (Triumvirate). Caesar had nearly total power in
the government, he and his Triumvirate were able to
make laws without being challenged by any opponents.
So you can obviously tell that he was in a leading
position and socially people saw him as a leader too.
5. Caesar’s Significance
The main thing that
made Caesar so
significant is that he
managed to gain a
great amount of
military power and got
himself elected as
consul with a strong
alliance, that had
control and power to
everything.
