2. We all know that we, humans are social
beings. It is our nature to communicated and
connect with people around us. And for sure,
there is a point in our life when we got to
experience these..

9. But we are actually doing several strategies in
our conversation without knowing it. Aware or
unaware, here are the strategies.

10. 1. NOMINATION COMMUNICATIVE
STRATEGY
-introducing a topic at the beginning of a
Communicative Situation
EXAMPLE:
I was late again! I set
my alarm to 5:30 but
I was dead asleep!

11. 2. RESTRICTION COMMUNICATIVE
STRATEGY
-restricts a response of the other person
involved in Communicative Situation
EXAMPLE:
That arrest move was
a disaster waiting to
happen. Do you agree?
(Yes/No)

12. 3. TURN-TAKING COMMUNICATIVE
STRATEGY
-opportunity to take turn in talking
-formal or informal
EXAMPLE:
May I have the floor,
sir?

13. 4. TOPIC-CONTROL COMMUNICATIVE
STRATEGY
-focusing on one topic without straying to
other conversation
EXAMPLE:
Let’s talk about the physical effects of
bullying.

14. 5. TOPIC-SHIFTING COMMUNICATIVE
STRATEGY
-introducing another topic
EXAMPLE:
Speaking of Global
warming, have you
watched the TV
program last night?

15. 6. REPAIR COMMUNICATIVE STRATEGY
-request for clarification to avoid
breakdown
EXAMPLE:
What did you say?
Can you repeat that?

16. 7. TERMINATION COMMUNICATIVE
STRATEGY
- Ending the interaction through verbal
and nonverbal messages
EXAMPLE:
Let’s call it a day.
