Arabic (plural) of Adab : meanings – “good breeding, decency,
nurture, good manners, refinement, cultured, decorum, courteous,
etiquette, propriety, social grace, to educate, discipline, the
humanities, etc.” sense of proportion and knowledge of their rightful
place in the order of things, the absence of which indicates injustice

Insha’Allah -This is a follow-up course, after completion
of 18 weeks course on the kitab “Ta’lim al-Muta’allim
Tariqit Ta’allum ” of Sheikh Tajuddin Nu’man Zarnuji

inherent powers and their potentialities to be

IKHLASw


“O you who have attained to faith! Do not take the
deniers of the truth for your allies (AWLIYA’) in
preference to the believers! Do you want to place
before Allah a manifest proof of your guilt?”
(Qur’an: An-Nisa’: 4: 144)


“Verily, the (MUNAAFIQEEN) hypocrites shall be in
the lowest depth of the fire, and thou wilt find none
who could succour them.”


“But excepted shall be they who repent, and live righteously, and
hold fast unto Allah, and (AKHLASwUU) grow sincere in their faith
in Allah alone: for these shall be one with the believers - and in
time Allah will grant to all believers a mighty reward.”


THE BESTOWAL from on high of this divine writ issues from Allah,
the Almighty, the Wise: for, behold, it is We who have bestowed
this revelation upon thee from on high, setting forth the truth: so
worship Him, (MUKH-LI-SwII—NA – LAHU- AD-DEEN ) sincere in
thy faith in Him alone!“
(Qur’an: Zumar: 39: 1-2)

“Is it not to Allah alone that all sincere faith is due?
And yet, they who take for their protectors aught beside
Him [are wont to say], “We worship them for no other
reason than that they bring us nearer to Allah.” Behold,
Allah will judge between them [on Resurrection Day]
with regard to all wherein they differ [from the truth]:
for, verily, Allah does not grace with His guidance anyone
who is bent on lying [to himself and is] stubbornly
ingrate!“
(Qur’an: Zumar: 39: 3)


“If you are ingrate behold, Allah has no need of you;
none the less, He does not approve of ingratitude in His
servants: whereas, if you show gratitude, He approves it
in you.
And no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear
another’s burden. In time, unto your Sustainer you all
must return, and then He will make you [truly]
understand all that you were doing [in life]: for, verily, He
has full knowledge of what is in the hearts [of men].“
(Qur’an: Zumar: 39: 7)


“Say [O Muhammad]: “Behold, I am bidden to worship
Allah, (MUKH-LI-SwAN – LAHUD-DEEN) sincere in my
faith in Him alone; and I am bidden to be foremost
among those who surrender themselves unto Allah
(MUSLIMEEN).
Say: “Behold, I would dread, were I to rebel against
my Sustainer, the suffering [which would befall me] on
that awesome Day [of Judgment].
Say: “Allah alone do I worship, sincere in my faith in
Him alone (MUKH-LI-SwAN - LAHU-DEE-NIY) -.”
(Qur’an: Zumar: 39: 11-14)


And withal, they were not enjoined aught but that they
should worship Allah, sincere in their faith in Him alone,
(MUKH-LI-SwII—NA – LAHU- AD-DEEN), turning away from
all that is false (HUNAFAA’); ...“
(Qur’an: Bayyinat: 98: 5)


 This Arabic word “ikhlasw” meaning “sincerity”, can also mean
“purity” and be related to the Message of TAUHEED - as when the
Surah (Chapter) which profoundly explains the Oneness of Allah is
also called “Surah Al-Ikhlasw” (Q:112).


 Similarly the kalimah (statement) of TAUHEED :

(There is no god except Allah)

is also called “KALIMAH-AL-IKHLASW” (pure or sincere Word); and
“KALIMAH-AL-TOY-YIBAH” (the good Word).


 As Muslims, upholding TAUHEED is absolutely imperative, and to do
so requires avoiding SHIRK.

 And the teachings of our Prophet s.a.a.w. has removed all forms
idolatrous practices and identified every apparent belief or practices to
avoid, which are, or may lead to obvious SHIRK in worship (‘IBADAH).

 Yet, there is another, a subtle or hidden form of SHIRK, which our
Prophet s.a.a.w. was so concerned about.


REFLECT DEEPLY IN HIS FAREWELL SERMON:


REFLECT DEEPLY IN HIS FAREWELL SERMON:

“O Mankind! Verily Satan has lost all hope that he will
ever be worshipped on this earth forever, but if you obey him
in other deeds (acts which may seem to you to be) petty (or
small), it will please him.

So be very careful of (following) him (regarding these) in
your religion.”

(Excerpt from the “Seerah” by Ibnu Hisham, “al-Iqd-ul Farid”
by Ibnu Abdi Rabbih and Bukhary’ s “Saheeh”)


REFLECT DEEPLY WHAT HE SAID:



“Verily, what I fear the most for my community (ummah)
is SHIRK (ascribing partners) to Allah.

I am not saying that they will worship the sun or the
moon or idols, but it is in their being insincere in doing
good deeds, not intending it for Allah’s sake but only to
please their hidden desires.”

(Hadith reported by Ibnu Majah in “Kitab Az-Zuhdu”)



“(Thus) the SHIRK within my ummah is more hidden (subtle)
than a black ant crawling on a black rock,
in the darkness of the night”
(Hadith reported by Ahmad, Tabarani & Abu Ya’la)

“Verily, Allah does not look at your outward form
(appearance) nor at your wealth, but He, verily will
look into (what is in) our hearts and deeds.”
(Hadith reported by Bukhary and Muslim)


“Verily, action is by intention; and verily the worth (merit) of
that action is (to be measured) in accordance
with what is intended”

(Hadith reported by Bukhary & Muslim)


“Thus he who migrates for the sake of Allah and His Messenger,
then his migration is for Allah and His Messenger.
And he who migrates seeking to gain worldly benefits
or for the sake of marrying a woman,
then his migration is for that which he has intended.”

(Hadith reported by Bukhary & Muslim)


“Allah will never accept any good deed (‘AMAL) except
When it is done sincerely, seeking His countenance.”

(Hadith reported by Ibnu Majah)


 From this, we must understand that we Muslims should never fall
prey to conceit nor forget the actual reason for our striving to do
good is, as an act of attesting to the Oneness of Allah; serving and
worshipping only Him.
 To be sincere therefore means:

“to negate all other considerations as the essential or primary
motive, except for the sake of Allah –

seeking His nearness (QURB) to please Him (REDHA) ”


 It is interesting that without truly striving to attest with TAUHEED –
to attest that only Allah is god, the One we were created to serve
and to worship to exclusively , then a person may take his / her
Nafs (self) or Hawa’ (desires) as ‘god’ – which may lead to the
spiritual disease of ‘ujub (self-conceit) and riya’ (ostentations).


 It is interesting that without truly striving to attest with TAUHEED –
to attest that only Allah is god, the One we were created to serve
and to worship exclusively to , then a person may take his / her
Nafs (self) or Hawa’ (desires) as ‘god’ – which may lead to the
spiritual disease of ‘ujub (self-conceit) and riya’ (ostentations).

“Have you ever considered (the kind of man) who makes his
own desires as his deities? “ (Qur’an: Furqan: 25:
43)

SINCERITY

OSTENTATIONS

BRAGGING

HYPOCRISY


“So woe to those who pray [perform Swolah]
[But] who are heedless [hearts remote] of their prayer –
Those who make show [of their deeds to be praised by others]
And withhold [simple] assistance [to fellow men].”
(Qur’an: Ma-’un: 107: 4-7)


“And [Allah does not love] those who spend their
possessions on others [only] to be seen and praised by men,
the while they believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day;
and he who has Satan for a soul-mate, how evil a soul-mate
has he!.”
Qur’an: An-Nisa’: 4: 38)

“Whoever likes to brag (to people concerning his good deeds),
Allah will brag of him (to people regarding his bad deeds);
Whoever likes to show-off (to people concerning his good deeds),
Allah will show-off (to people regarding his bad deeds).”
(Hadith reported by Bukhary and Muslim)


“ .. they will utter with their tongues something
that is not in their hearts. ”
(Qur’an: Fath: 48: 11)


ATTITUDE OF THE ‘MUNAAFIQUUN’



“Hast thou not observed those who assert that they believe
in that which hath been sent down unto thee and that
which hath been sent down before thee desiring to go to
TAGHUT (the devil) for judgement, whereas they have been
commanded to disbelieve in him; and Satan desires to lead
them far astray.”

(Qur’an: Nisa’: 4: 60)



“Now there is a kind of man whose views on the life of this
world may please thee greatly, and [the more so as] he cites
Allah as witness to what is in his heart and is, moreover,
exceedingly skilful in argument.”
(Qur’an: Baqarah: 2: 204)



“But whenever he prevails, he goes about the earth spreading
corruption and destroying [man's] tilth and progeny: and Allah
does not love corruption.”



“And whenever he is told, "Be conscious of Allah (TAQWA)," his
false pride drives him into sin: wherefore hell will be his
allotted portion-and how vile a resting-place! ”


IMPORTANT DZIKR

LAA- ILAA-HA- IL-LALLAAHU - WAHDAHU –
LAA – SHAREE-KA LAH, LAHUL-MULKU –
WALAHUL-HAMD, WA-HUWA - ‘ALAA
KUL-LI- SHAY -INQ- QADEER.

“There is no god (none has the right to be worshipped) except
Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty
and praise and He is All-Powerful over all things .”


IMPORTANT DU’A

ALLAA-HUM-MA - IN-NEE – A –’UU-DZU-BIKA - MIN
AN - USH-RI-KA – BI-KA – SHAY-AN – WA –ANA –
A’-LAMU, WA –AS-TAGH-FIRU-KA –
MI-NADZ—DZAM - BIL– LADZII - LAA – A’-LAM

“O Allah! I seek refuge with You from committing
SHIRK i.e. associating others with You, knowingly,
and I seek Your forgiveness from the committing of
the sins (of SHIRK) which I do not know.”

IMPORTANT DU’A

ALLAA-HUM-MA – YAA – HA-DI-YAL - MU-DwIL-LEEN,
WA – RAA – HI-MAL – MUDZ – NI – BEEN,
WA – MUQEE – LA – ‘A-THA – RAA – TIL – ‘AA – THI -REEN

“O (Allah, You Who is the) Guide of those who are astray!
And (the One Who is) Merciful to those who are sinful!
And (the One Who erases and forgives) iniquities and sins!


IMPORTANT DU’A

IR – HAM – ‘AB – BA – KA – DZAL- KHO – TA -RIL – ‘AA- ZEEM
WAL – MUS- LI-MEE-NA – ‘AJ – MA – ‘EEN
WAJ - ’AL-NAA – MI-NAL – A –HIB-BAA - IL- MAR - ZUU- QEEN

“Be Merciful to this Your slave who has committed much wrongdoings!
As well (be You Merciful) to every Muslim.
Make us to be amongst those whom You love and grant provision


IMPORTANT DU’A

MA – ‘AL – LA-DZEE-NA – AN – ‘AM – TA – ‘ALAI –HIM
MI-NAN – NA BIY- YEE-NA - WAS – SwID - DI- QEENA
WA – SHU – HA – DAA – I – WAS – SwO - LI - HEEN.
YAA – ROB-BAL – ‘AA – LA - MEEN

“(So that we are made to be) With those whose portion is
Grace (and favours) - among the Prophets, and the Truthful,
And the Witnesses-Martyrs and the Righteous.
O (Allah, You are the) Most Merciful of those who show mercy!”
