3. In Croatia you can count over thousand most beautiful
islands, actually 1242 islands spread all over sea coast!
4. Zagreb Capital city of Croatia
Placed northwest of the country at the foot of the
wooded mountain of Medvednica with its peak Sljeme
and on the south side, lies the city of Zagreb.
5. Zagreb is the largest city in Croatia with about 800 000 inhabitants.
During the centuries Zagreb was spread all along to the river Sava and
over the years our capital has grown bigger and bigger.
7. Croatian national education sistem
Education in Croatia has 3 parts wich defines
primary education as mandatory and free, while
secondary and higher education are equally available to all.
Primary school
lasts 8 years for children aged between 6,5 and 15. Primary
education is split in two stages witch both last 4 years:
• During first 4 years children are being taught by one teacher per
class, with subjects such as Croatian language, mathematics, visual
art, science, physical education and music education. Exept forein
language.
• From 5th to 8th grade, different teachers teach different subjects,
with added subjects such as history, geography, biology, chemistry,
physics, informatics and in addition to English, often a second
language.
8. Secondary school
• After primary school we have secondary schools which
lasts 3 or 4 years, depending on the type of school.
• Pupils choose which school they want to go to.
• There are: Gymnasiums, Vocational or trade schools
and Art schools.
• Pupils complete their secondary education with finally
state exam.
9. Higher education
Students can choose between two basic kinds of higher education:
1) Polytechnic schools, gives higher level of education.
2) Universities, gives highest level of education.
• Higher education in Croatia lasts 4 to 6 years, wich depends about
tipe of education.
• People who previously completed a Politechnic schools were
classified as having "higher expertise„ and people who previously
completed a Universities were classified as having "high expertise"
• It was also possible to enroll in post-graduate studies and earn the
distinctions of magistar and also doctor of science.
10. This is our: Elementary school "Nikola Tesla„
named after, as you know, an inventor, electrical engineer,
mechanical engineer, and futurist best known for his
contributions to the design of the modern
alternating current electricity supply system.
Our school has about 500 pupils in 24 classes.
11. This year we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the school.
The students have made a model of the school.
