“I had a really good job in Bahrain before the internship as a Payroll
Manager and it paid more than the internship salary. However, I still chose
to take this opportunity with Global Internship Programme to work as a Tax
Experienced Associate in PwC because of the expertise it will give me. The
experience was very powerful; it didn’t feel like an internship because it was
an actual full time job. I was given all the employee rights and treated like all
the other employees. The internship was very challenging in the beginning
because I did not have work experience in tax consultancy before. I was
able to learn a lot especially with the help of the staff here in PwC. I’m really
glad to have knowledge in this area because I majored in accounting and
worked in HR before and tax is combination of both. Now I have gained
skills and knowledge in something that is very unique to Bahrain.”

“I am a Fine Arts graduate, but because of the internship I was able to
explore a different work area. This helped me to have a realization that I am
passionate about Education. Because of the practical knowledge and skills I
gained I was able to shift my career. After my internship, I was offered a job
in Bahrain Teachers College. I also taught in Ahlia University and currently I
am an Academic and College Counselor in AlWisam School. I am also a
Fulbright scholarship nominee for Masters in Educational Leadership &
Policy Analysis.
I have taken part in community development progammes and exchange
opportunities before; the Global Internship Programme is different. It’s
purely professional and the opportunities provided are not ones that you
can get in Bahrain, especially at a young age. I wouldn’t have had a similar
job description in Bahrain as a fresh graduate. Other than that, I had the
advantage of being an international employee which allowed me to get
more responsibilities and experience.”

“The company I was working in, Viatecla, provide IT business solutions and
it’s licensed a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. The work environment was
friendly and in the same time very empowering and challenging. I am very
grateful for the experience because I was given responsibilities I wouldn’t
have got at a young age if I was in Bahrain. Halfway through the internship I
was given the responsibility to manage two new employees even though I
was only an intern there. The internship helped me to explore my
potentials, know my strengths and showcase them. At the end of my
internship I was offered a job by the company in Portugal. And in the same
time I was offered a job in one of the top IT companies in Bahrain. The
experience I got and working with different people from various
backgrounds gave me the practical knowledge and the mindset that my
current position requires.”
