This activity requires you to prepare and deliver a talk of at least one minute to your teacher.
You will be assessed on how well you:
   Develop ideas about a topic
   Use a variety of vocabulary and structures
   Give a clear talk in Chinese of at least one minute

TaskThree - Topic: Weather Help Line
As the increase of the number of overseas students learning Chinese, tourists travelling China, business people visiting
suppliers or retailers in China, they need different kinds of information help before they actually set their feet on their
destinations in China. Chinese Government provides all sorts of information to help these students, tourists and
business people. As you are working for Chinese Government information desk help call centre through the internet to
receive people’s inquiries, weather help is one of the sectors on your position.
When people select a certain area they would like to visit and their queries related to the weather, the phone line will
automatically transfer to your line.
As Role A: You need to choose a location, either a city or a province in China you prefer to work for and do your
research for all the weather information which people could possibly ask. Give the answers according to the questions
people could possibly ask and the information you have collected.
As Role B: You need to choose a location according to the information on cities or provinces available to ask questions
and response to the answer given by Role A.
For Example:
As Role A, you would like to help people to know about the weather in Beijing. Then you would start to collect the information
about how the weather looks like, the temperatures differences, the clothes suggested, etc. in different seasons.
As Role B, if you choose to inquire the things related weather in shanghai, you would assume you are under a scenario of either
students, tourists or business people going to China, you need to ask the person who have a good preparation of the things
related weather in Shanghai.

2. Activities available and recommended in different seasons and months
3. House warm level and any cooling or heating system could possibly install according to different seasons
4. Clothes available and recommended in different seasons and months
5. Things you can buy in different seasons and months
6. Food, fruits available and recommended in different seasons and months
7. Things you can talk about (e.g. July-baseball) in different seasons
8. Food provided normally in the restaurants in different seasons and months
9. Day and night temperatures differences in different seasons
10. Festival occurred in different seasons and months
Your conversation will be videoed for training purposes

Conditions:
  Your talk should be at least one minute long.
  You may prepare cue cards, English or Chinese with a maximum of tenwords or symbols(you may
  includevisual aids). Your teacher will check these.
  Speaking order will be by ballot and/or negotiation.
  Your presentation will be recorded for assessment reference purposes.
  You must speak clearly – don’t speak too fast.
  Study the assessment schedule carefully and make sure you know what level of performance is required.
  The language examples are given as a guide for you, you may use part of them or adapt them, but do not
  quote them verbatim. Your speech must be your own work.
    Use as wide a variety of vocabulary (include adverbs such as 很, and structures (e.g.大概有两千四百
                                                                   最)
    个学生左右( watch word order), correctly used prepositions (e.g.在) ) as possible.
    Avoid repetition and lists. Vary your word order – inversion.
    The date for the assessment is Term One Week 5. Ensure that you arrive in good time for your
    appointment.

  • 2. Student Instruction Sheet This activity requires you to prepare and deliver a talk of at least one minute to your teacher. You will be assessed on how well you: Develop ideas about a topic Use a variety of vocabulary and structures Give a clear talk in Chinese of at least one minute TaskThree - Topic: Weather Help Line As the increase of the number of overseas students learning Chinese, tourists travelling China, business people visiting suppliers or retailers in China, they need different kinds of information help before they actually set their feet on their destinations in China. Chinese Government provides all sorts of information to help these students, tourists and business people. As you are working for Chinese Government information desk help call centre through the internet to receive people’s inquiries, weather help is one of the sectors on your position. When people select a certain area they would like to visit and their queries related to the weather, the phone line will automatically transfer to your line. As Role A: You need to choose a location, either a city or a province in China you prefer to work for and do your research for all the weather information which people could possibly ask. Give the answers according to the questions people could possibly ask and the information you have collected. As Role B: You need to choose a location according to the information on cities or provinces available to ask questions and response to the answer given by Role A. For Example: As Role A, you would like to help people to know about the weather in Beijing. Then you would start to collect the information about how the weather looks like, the temperatures differences, the clothes suggested, etc. in different seasons. As Role B, if you choose to inquire the things related weather in shanghai, you would assume you are under a scenario of either students, tourists or business people going to China, you need to ask the person who have a good preparation of the things related weather in Shanghai. 1.
