2. *INTRO*
• Child abuse is a problem that is
everlasting. There is no cure for the
children who are put through
everyday abuse. Child abuse is a
problem globally it happens ALL
OVER THE WORLD!! No child
deserves it.
• Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a
lifetime..
3. *OVERVIEW*
• Child abuse leaves children with either
visible or non visible scars. Physical,
emotional or sexual abuse can occur.
• Child abuse can make the child not trust
anyone or feel ashamed of themselves
sometimes even leading to later on abuse
to their child.
• Children are like wet cement, what ever falls on them
makes an impression..
4. *HISTORY/TIMELINE*
TIMELINE
A torn jacket is soon mended; but hard words
bruise the heart of a child..
5. *LOCATION*
• Child abuse happens in all 50 states of the U.S.A
and almost every country or continent!!
One in four children being victimized? That's about seven
children in every classroom. That's a significant proportion of
the population.
6. *WORST AFFECTED AREAS*
• The worst affected areas in a child
caused by child abuse is the
stomach/abdomen (physical abuse)
but the most the child can feel is
within their heart.
7. *COMPARE/CONTRAST*
• Children who aren’t abused are open
to others while children who ARE
abused hide in fear that other people
will abuse them in any way.
8. *SOLUTIONS*
• organize prevention campaign
• report suspected and neglect
• Or ‘break the silence’ tell some one if
you or others have been abused.
9. *PERSONAL CONNECTION*
• The personal connection I have with
this problem is that some of my
friends have been put through child
abuse and I can’t stand the fact that
it goes on without people noticing.
10. *MY SOLUTION*
• I think that some people should be
watched more carefully because of
child abuse and maybe even cameras
should be put in house holds..
• Child abuse is a memory that lasts forever
11. *HUMAN IMPACT*
• The long lasting (long term) affects
this issue has on children is they
learn to be violent or be afraid of
others. Abuse makes a child
something they are not.
12. *AID ORGANIZATION*
• Child help
• (PCA) prevent child abuse America
• CASA Court Appointed Special Advocate
Association
• Childabuse.org
• APSAC
• NAPCAN
• (YesICAN) international child abuse
network
13. *FINANTIAL IMPACT*
• Some costs are straightforward and
directly related to abuse, such as
hospital costs, and foster care costs.
Other costs, less directly tied to the
incidence of abuse, include lower
academic achievement, adult
criminality, and lifelong mental
health problems.
14. *BEFORE/AFTER
COMPARISON*
• Child abuse has been less brutal but
in some cases more than ever
before. Life for an abused child
earlier might have included work
without pay, forcing children to do
something they shouldn’t (illegal
sometimes) and even limited
affection.
15. *FREE CHOICE/ MISCELLANEOUS
INFORMATION*
• Children who are abused have less
trust in people and sometimes feel
worthless, useless or no good. Life as
an abused child can be brutal.
17. *CONCLUSION*
• Child abuse is a brutal thing for a
child, I believe no child should be out
through abuse. Child abuse makes
no sense at all… WHAT’S THE
PURPOSE OF CHILD ABUSE??
18. What Is child abuse?
• Child abuse is the physical,
Emotional or sexual mistreatment of
a child.
19. When does child abuse
occur?
• Child abuse occurs normally when
the parent or abuser feels that it will
teach them a lesson or if they had a
bad day. A child is normally abused
by someone the child or family
knows.
20. Different types of child
abuse.
• Emotional abuse
• Physical abuse
• And Sexual abuse
21. Emotional Abuse
• Sticks and stones may break my
bones but words will never hurt me?
Constant belittling, shaming, and humiliating a child.
Calling names and making negative comparisons to others.
Telling a child he or she is “no good," "worthless," "bad," or "a
mistake."
Frequent yelling, threatening, or bullying.
Ignoring or rejecting a child as punishment, giving him or her the
silent treatment.
Limited physical contact with the child—no hugs, kisses, or other
signs of affection.
Exposing the child to violence or the abuse of others, whether it be
the abuse of a parent, a sibling, or even a pet.
22. Physical abuse
• Physical abuse involves physical harm or injury to the child.
It may be the result of a deliberate attempt to hurt the
child, but not always. It can also result from severe
discipline, such as using a belt on a child, or physical
punishment that is inappropriate to the child’s age or
physical condition.
• Many physically abusive parents and caregivers insist that
their actions are simply forms of discipline—ways to make
children learn to behave. But there is a big difference
between using physical punishment to discipline and
physical abuse. The point of disciplining children is to teach
them right from wrong, not to make them live in fear.
23. Sexual abuse
• Child sexual abuse is an especially complicated form of
abuse because of its layers of guilt and shame. It's
important to recognize that sexual abuse doesn't always
involve body contact. Exposing a child to sexual situations
or material is sexually abusive, whether or not touching is
involved.
• While news stories of sexual predators are scary, what is
even more frightening is that sexual abuse usually occurs
at the hands of someone the child knows and should be
able to trust—most often close relatives. And contrary to
what many believe, it’s not just girls who are at risk. Boys
and girls both suffer from sexual abuse. In fact, sexual
abuse of boys may be underreported due to shame and
stigma.
