2.  Young families can look to the Jewish United
Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago
(JUF) for help in a number of areas. The JUF’s Young
Families program, for example, offers assistance with
the beginning stages of raising a child, from bringing
a newborn into the family to enrolling the child in
early Jewish education.
JUF Young Families accomplishes its mission through
three major programs. Its jBaby Chicago initiative
reaches out to parents who are expecting a child or
raising a child younger than 2 years of age. It helps
those parents develop connections with Chicago’s
Jewish community through playgroups, support
groups, and events.

3.  The second initiative, P J Library, provides
access to free, age-appropriate, high-
quality Jewish music and books. Finally,
the JUF Right Start program offers
vouchers that offset the cost of Jewish
day care and preschool. Families can
receive as much as $2,000 to support
their first child’s enrollment in a qualifying
program, and any Jewish family is
eligible, regardless of financial need.
