and stand up a Drupal site

Go to the GoDaddy website
• www.godaddy.com
• If you do not have a
GoDaddy account,
click on Create
Account
• If you have a
GoDaddy account,
log onto it and skip
the next page


Create a GoDaddy account
• Fill out the form
• Write down the
account information!
• Click on the button at
the bottom of the
form to create the
account


Check to see if your domain is available
• Enter the domain
you want
• Click on the orange
GO button


Wade through GoDaddy upselling
• If the domain you
wanted is not
available, try
variations until you
find one that is
available
Add and Proceed to
Checkout button


No, you do not want this stuff
• GoDaddy offers an
easy to use website,
great telephone
support, and low
prices, but they do a
whole bunch of
upselling and cross-
selling
• Click the grey No
Thanks button


Upgrades you do want
• Set Registration
Length to 1 year
• Select the Deluxe
hosting plan
• Select the Deluxe
email plan (unless
you need more than
five email addresses,
in which case you
should go with the
Unlimited plan)


Dodging more upsell
• Do not add
SmartSpace
• Do not ask to see
more upselling /
cross-selling
• Click the orange
CONTINUE button


Review the settings
• Your selections and
price should be
similar to what is to
the left
• The domain
registration price
may vary based the
suffix and GoDaddy
special offers
• Scroll down and go
to the next page


Select payment method
• Select the payment

Setup the hosting account

Review the License agreement

actually reads these,
but it is still a good
idea to skim through
it so you understand
what GoDaddy will
and will not do for
you


Accept the License agreement
• Check the “I have
read the agreement”
checkbox

Enter desired username and password
• Enter desired user
name
• Enter desired
password (twice!)
• Click on Next button


Select Domain
• Select the domain
you registered for
the Drupal site
Next button


Select Options
• Select PHP 5.x
• Check the Enabled
button for Google
Webmaster Tools
Next button


Confirmation
Next button


Take a Break
• GoDaddy says they
take as much as 24
hours to get the
hosting set up, but it
usually takes about
15 minutes
• This is a good time
to take a break and
check back in 15 –
30 minutes


GoDaddy Hosting Connection
• Go to

ction.godaddy.com
• Log in using your
GoDaddy credentials
• Click on Content
Management
• Click on Drupal


Start the Drupal Installation
INSTALL NOW!

• If the INSTALL
NOW! button is not
clickable, you need
to wait a bit longer
for GoDaddy to
provision your
hosting


Review the license agreement
• Review the license
agreement

Select hosting
• Confirm the correct
domain is selected
Next button


Configure Database
• Enter a database
description
• Enter a database
password (twice)
• Write the password
down!!!
Next button


Configure Drupal
• Enter Drupal admin
account name
– Use something
other than “Admin”
• Enter the admin
account password
(twice!)
• Enter the email
address to send
admin emails to
Finish button


Complete installation
• Click on My
Applications


Check status
• Refresh the page
every couple of
minutes until it is
done


Congratulations!
• Go to your domain
and use the Drupal
admin account info
to log into your new
Drupal site
