Preliminary Task

1. NINE FRAME ANALYSIS

2. Frame 1
 The first shot of the
preliminary task is a mid shot
showing us what he looks like
and the setting that he is in
around him.
 A hand held camera is used
to show that the situation he
is in is not steady as has to
face with a problem.
 The lighting in this shot is
naturalistic lighting because
he is outside. This shot lasts
for 3 seconds.

3. Frame 2
 The second shot is a mid
shot as we see him walk
through the doors and the
camera pans to the right
showing the building he
has just walked in.
 The lighting becomes low
key lighting showing us
that he is getting closer to
the problem he is
dreading. This shot lasts
for 4 seconds.

4. Frame 3
 The third shot is a wide
shot as we see him going
up the stairs.
 This is the first shot where
we see a long shot of him
and how he dresses giving
us an idea of what type of
person he is.
 There is no camera
movement. This shot lasts
for 4 seconds.

5. Frame 4
 The fourth shot is a
close up of his shoes,
taking up the whole
frame as he is walking
up the stairs showing the
continuity.
 The camera is a hand
held camera showing
that he is becoming
closer to the problem.
This shot lasts for 3
seconds.

6. Frame 5
 The fifth shot is a mid
shot and the camera
pans to the left following
the direction he is
walking in.
 This shows him always
being in the centre of the
frame, showing us he is
the protagonist. This shot
lasts for 3 seconds.

7. Frame 6
 The sixth shot is a mid
shot and the camera
pans to the right in the
direction he is walking in.
 The lighting becomes
darker than the lighting in
the previous shots
showing that he is very
close to his problem.
This shot lasts for 6
seconds.

8. Frame 7
 The seventh shot is a
mid shot and he is
standing on the right of
the frame as he is
looking at the door
handle on the left.
 This creates tension as
the audience doesn't’t
know what is in the
room. This shot lasts
for 4 seconds.

9. Frame 8
 The eighth shot is a close
up of him turning the door
handle and opening the
door. This shot is a close
up because it shows the
movement that he is
making and the choice that
he has made to open the
door.
 This is a quick shot
because it shows that he
has made his decision very
quickly. This shot lasts for
1 second.

10. Frame 9
 The ninth shot is an over
the shoulder shot showing
the person that he is
talking to. The lighting is
high key lighting focusing
on the conversation
between the two people.
 The camera is a high angle
shot showing the argument
between the two people.
This shot lasts for 2
seconds.
