This is a workshop I put together for Hispanic/Latino(a) pastors and leaders. Most of the information that exists about social media is euro-centric, and not much exists about its value in ministry. This is an approach to social media in the Hispanic context, and serves as a "conversation-starter" for its potential in ministry.

What is Social Media? • Web-based technology that turns communication into interactive dialogue(s). • Regular media is “one-way.” Social Media is a “two-way” street.
What it is NOT • Social Media does NOT replace face-to- face interaction. • Social Media is NOT just for young people.

Hispanic Marketing • Hispanic Engagement: process of building community, relationships, & trust. • Relationships:Authentic; treat others well and keep them in mind. • La Cultura: Hispanics are diverse. Understand the various realities and experiences. • Go to la gente: Do research, and know where the Latinos are. • Collaborate: Learn from others... but don’t copy them! • Be a resource: Understand the needs, wants, & aspirations in your community . • Ministerio: always point to Christ!
