2007 Quilt Raffle Earns $1016 for the Friendsville Library
The Friendsville Library Quilters held the drawing for its
latest queen-size quilt, Friendsville in Winter, Tuesday,
September 4, at the Friendsville Library. Violet Coddington
of Friendsville drew the winning ticket, which was sold by
Jan Hileman of Friendsville. The winner, Angela Rogers of
McHenry, is quite excited to be the proud owner of the quilt,
especially because she has a close association with one of
the buildings featured in the design. Each building in this
work of art represents an actual existing business or church
in Friendsville, and one of those buildings is the Morning
Glory Bed and Breakfast owned by Rogers’ Mom and Dad,
Patty and Wayne Glotfelty.
The Friendsville in Winter quilt won a blue ribbon at the
Cumberland Schoolhouse Quilters’ Show and a red ribbon at
the Spruce Forest Summer Quilt Festival in Grantsville. It will
be displayed at the Heritage Quilters show at St. Peters
Catholic Social Hall during this year’s Autumn Glory Festival.
Members of the Library Quilters piece and hand-quilt their
project each year at the Friendsville Library, and the money
from ticket sales goes towards books and other materials for
the library. This year’s raffle earned a total of $1016.
