Mandalas Strengths
Mandalas can demonstrate and express so much to a person. They used to not mean anything to me,
but the more I learned about them the more I understood how they show the wholeness and meaning
of a person. Do you ever give recognition to the things that define you? Do you ever give them some
time out of your day to admire them? To be able to demonstrate your strengths and weaknesses in
different ways such as the mandala is important. Swimming, piano, and the beach are what represent
me. In my opinion, it's wonderful to have something or someone to rely on when you're not having
an okay day. That's what the piano has been to me these past six years. The piano is an escape for
me and a beautiful and sentimental way I become closer to

Character Analysis Of The Secret Life Of Bees
"Every person on the face of the earth makes mistakes, Lily. Every last one. We're all so human.
Your mother made a terrible mistake, but she tried to fix it." The quote just before came from the
character August Boatwright, an African American woman who lives in Tiburon, South Carolina
with her sisters May and June Boatwright. There are many characters in the book of The Secret Life
of Bees that have this unique personality which brings many life to the story but August mainly
struck my eye compared to the rest of them. She has this personality that shows her intelligence and
warmhearted person that brought me to admire her. The intelligence in August Boatwright brought
me to the conclusion of her being so admirable. Sue Monk Kidd brought August into the story that
would be helpful in the storyline. August is seen as this surrogate mother to her sisters as well as to
Lily. She has this knowledge that has helped everyone in the story figure out their problem. The
moment Lily walked through the door, she noticed something but kept it to herself. Viewing every
little thing about Lily as she stayed with them, helping her with daily needs and the business she ran
at the house. This moment stuck with August because she knew she was Deborah's child. In the end
of the story, Lily reveals to AUgust she is daughter of Deborah and clearly August knew from the
start because that is what she noticed about Lily. She was able to tell that since it was a miniature
version of Deborah. But

3 Types Of Heroes Research Paper
"he·ro[ˈhirō]NOUN heroes (plural noun) 1. a person who is admired or idealized for courage,
outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." Most people think of this definition when they think
of the word "hero", however when others think of the word "Hero" a different definition comes to
mind. A hero is a person who other people look up to for guidance because they impacted their lives
and whenever there was a tough situation that person got through it. That definition are also three
traits that every hero needs. While there are many different types of heroes, the following three
character traits are generalized to fit most heroes. A hero is someone who impacts someone's life in
any way, regardless if it emotionally or physically. For instance, ... Show more content on

Jeydon Wale is 26 years old and lives in Canada. He makes YouTube videos for a living, where he
posted about his life and also life advice while also being humorous. Jeydon Wale was born a
female, but felt he had a brain of a male, and later changed his appearance to match what he felt on
the inside. Jeydon Wale has faced many difficulties throughout his life, such as being bullied as a
child, having his mother almost die, and being suicidal. He says his own quote at the end of each of
his videos which is "Stay Strong, Stay Beautiful, Stay You." I find this quote empowering because it
means that you should never let other people who you are, which is everything that Jeydon Wale
stands for. In his Videos Jeydon Wale expresses the importance of being yourself, having self
confidence, and loving yourself. I admire his values because around my age a lot of people start to
feel as if they are not worth anything, that no one understands how they feel, or that they should just
abide by society's standards; and Jeydon is here saying that you should be your own person and to
not listen to what anyones says about who you are no matter how hard it is. This message in this day
and age is so powerful, and that is why Jeydon Wale is and will continue to be a hero to me and

Hazel Grace Lancaster In The Fault In Our Stars By John Green
From the book, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, is
a person to admire. Foremost, she is a person to admire since she is selfless and caring. First, Hazel
is a person to admire since she is selfless. For example, Hazel parents are excited by Hazel trip to
Amsterdam as they talk about it for dinner, but notice that Hazel is unusually quiet, and they
confront her about it. Hazel responds that she is like a grenade and that she'll someday explode so
she'll like to reduce any casualties. "'I'm a grenade,' I said again, 'I just want to stay from away
people and read books and think and be with you guys because there's nothing I can do about
hurting you; you're too invested, so just please let me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, Hazel is a person to admire since she's humorous. Specifically, Hazel talks about her
diagnosis with Stage four thyroid cancer when she was thirteen. "(I didn't tell him that the diagnosis
came three months after I got my first period. Like: Congratulations! You're a woman. Now die)"
(Green 24). This shows Hazel is a person to admire since she is humorous because she jokes about
the irony of her becoming a woman to soon be basically diagnosed with character and most likely
dying instead of being depressed or self–pitying. Lastly, Hazel is a person to admire since she is
smart. In particular, when first conversing with Augustus in the car, she mentions that due to her
condition, she had to drop out of from high school, and she can't go back since she already has taken
her GED so now she taking classes from the local community college. This shows that Hazel is a
person to admire since she is smart because although, she has dropped out of school, she was still
able to take the quite tough test, GED, in order to do so, and seems to be fine taking college level
classes at her age of sixteen. Therefore, Hazel is funny and smart, making her a person to admire. In
conclusion, the main character in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Hazel Grace Lancaster, is

Examples Of Homerun Of A Role Model
A Homerun of a Role Model
Have you ever had someone that you look up to? Well, most people in the world do have role
models. Whether it is a family member, a friend, or just a great person, role models are phenomenal
things for people to have. Role models can help you strive for greatness, or make you yearn to be an
overall better person. One individual that I look up to is Derek Jeter because he lived a life full of
adversity, he attacks challenges with ferocity, and he performs under intense pressure. Many people
have lived hard lives and gone on to greatness. This is definitely the case with Derek Jeter. The first
reason that Derek Jeter is my role model is because he lived a life full of adversity. Derek's mother
was white, while his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how much pressure you put on him, he will never break down or falter. The third and
final reason why I admire Jeter is he performs well under tremendous pressure. When D.J. was
brought up from the minors, he was chosen to wear number two. This is very symbolic in the
Yankee organization. The Yankees only gave these low numbers to the players who were supposed
to be exceptional. This meant that Derek was to follow in the footsteps of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig,
Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle. These expectations made him very nervous, but Jeter still
performed extraordinarily. The other reason that D.J. is under tremendous pressure is because he
plays on the most recognized sports franchise in history. No matter what he does, he's under a ton of
scrutiny. A third reason that he's under this pressure is that not only is Derek a player on the Yankee,
but he is actually there team captain. Being the captain of the New York Yankees is the hardest job
available in sports. You don't have any room for a single mistake. This is the last reason why D.J. is
my role model. Over the course of his prolific MLB career, Derek Jeter has silenced a lot of critics
and made a lot of people realize that you don't have to be born with talent to make something with
your life. I feel honored that I am alive during the life of this great player. Derek Jeter is my role
model because he lived a life full of adversity, he attacks challenges with ferocity, and

Shoumica's most outstanding characteristic that I like about her is her good sense of humor.

The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay
In the book called "The Secret Life of Bee's" written by Sue Monk Kidd there are characters such as
Lily, Rosaline, T.Ray, Deborah, August, May, Zach, etc. From the list of characters stated one that I
admire the most and seem to have a lot in common in is Zach. I admire him due to his
determination, his want to be a lawyer, and especially due to the fact that he plays football. Well
Zachery Taylor (His full name) is as determined as they come. Living in a world full of Racist white
men with white privilege breathing down his neck. Zach will just keep on churning through
everything. Small examples of his determination are Law schools being explicit to whites only.
Stating his only way of being educated is unavailable. Some ways he tries to overcome this is
communicating with Clayton Forrest (Lawyer). He ends up learning off Clayton to learn tips and
tricks. He uses it as an alternative to school. Falling in love with Lily also shows another hump in
his life that he overcomes with determination. Knowing it's a white man's world and being caught
with Lily will be a serious crime due to the time. So for that he keeps it lowkey. Everything seems to

Winston's Character Comparison With Big Brother
Winston Character Response Like all people, fictional or not, Winston is a complex and
multifaceted character. However, by viewing his choices, I can easily decide how I perceive his
character. Winston is a person I generally admire even though there are some aspects of him that I
disfavor. Winston constantly makes the decision to rebel against Big Brother in little ways. Some
examples of this are when he wrote "DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER" multiple times in a journal,
meeting with and having a relationship with Julia, and by involving himself with the Brotherhood. I
admire the rebellious nature of Winston because I believe it takes courage and deep thought to
diverge from what your government and society wants you to do. Being rebellious shows

Ed Kennedy's Response To The Messenger
Ed is the only person in the novel we can admire. Discuss.
The Messenger shows that by behaving in an altruistic way, our admiration towards a person grows.
Throughout the novel many different altruistic acts have been achieved by the protagonist, Ed
Kennedy. By the end of the book we have developed a level of respect and admiration for him as he
managed to transform himself and others around him. Markus Zusak was sending Ed messages to
get him to behave in that manner but he was also sending a message to the reader to also start
behaving that way. All these can relate back to the altruistic tasks that have been achieved and how
they influenced Ed's life and can easily influence ours.
At the start of the novel we see Ed, a 19–year–old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He handled topics such as poverty, domestic violence, loneliness and fear of love. This is taking the
young adult audience to a very serious place and making them consider very adult problems. We see
Ed having to handle a 'rape case', an old lady that made him think how a 'human could be so lonely'
and a young family that didn't have much but were 'beautiful [...] in what they are'. Whilst doing this
Zusak has also kept the underlying elements of surprise and mystery present throughout the novel.
By integrating these two ideas, The Messenger is providing useful guidance to how the younger
generation should act and behave. As Zusak appears very omniscient in his role as the messenger, he
has used this role to his advantage and it appears as though he is not only telling Ed to 'live beyond
what [he is] capable of', but also telling the

Idol In The Prince
The main influence on society are the people with the most power, who the average everyday person
aspires to be. What makes someone an "idol"? An idol is a person or thing that is greatly admired,
loved, or revered; a person who individuals yearn to be. People have a need to seek themselves in
others, it is a characteristic of human nature to want to belong and fit in. This is what can make an
idol or celebrity so influential and powerful. People admire people of power because they have
traits, values and qualities that the average person wishes to possess and replicate in themselves.
Idols must have admirable traits in order to maintain their high profile meaning. Throughout history,

The "ideal" idol gained their power through being remarkably intelligent and liable. Machiavelli is
the perfect example of this, gaining his power through being a political leader, accessible for people
to seek themselves in. This justifies people's need for power, and therefore envying Machiavelli, due
to his political power. Machiavelli influences the modern political science we still use today, and
continue to pave his paths. His book, The Prince uses Renaissance values and applies them to
politics, intriguing most everyone. His book targets powerful men, teaching them how to gain and
maintain power. "It is not at all necessary for a prince to have all the good qualities which I have
named, but it is necessary to seem to have them" (Machiavelli). Although Machiavelli gained his
power, not every man can, to this extent, Machiavelli is saying that in order to build the status of an
idol, you must project the idea of power. It is of known fact that people with power are admired,
thus, Machiavelli wrote a book teaching individuals how to gain power, and become and idol
themselves. This allowed Machiavelli to "create a stir" and "shock the Western world" (ABC Clio),
and become the idol that we know him as today. Machiavelli is the turning point where men start to
value power, seeking to find Machiavelli in

Almost every person has someone whom they admire and respect the most in the world. Regardless
of who it is people tend to look up to someone they believe is superior or have aspects of which they
enjoy. Be it because of fame, beauty, intelligence, history or something of the same form it is typical
for people to have at least one person. Though I may be calculated into the mass of people who
claim a friend to be their most admired person, I believe that Christine Ardans is someone who I
admire most. I remember the first day I met her, she had already struck me as someone different and

Explain Why I Want To Be An Obstetrician
Have you thought about your career in the future? Most people in my school know what they want
their career for them to be. For example, my cousin who is now a senior, decided that he wanted to
go to the military, like many other young men. Even I, a twelve year old girl, knows and planned
what she wants to do in the future. I will try really hard to become obstetrician, a type a doctor who

That is why I always try really hard in school and it pays off. I chose my career, now it is your turn.
One of the reasons I want to be an obstetrician is because I, as any other person, admire there work.
I do not care how much money I will get paid because the only reason I want to be an obstetrician is
because I have always admired them because they are the people who help bring new life into our

The Chocolate War Essay
The Chocolate War Many people often meet different characters in literature and in life that they
admire or despise. They conclude if those characters are good or evil and at the same time they
reflect on the choices and responsibilities that those characters have. From The Chocolate War I
admire Roland Goubert or The Goober based on his actions. I despise Archie Costello (The Assigner
of The Vigils) because of the choices that he made and also because of his actions.
I admire Roland Goubert (The Goober) the most of all the characters within this book because he is

he was sick and tried to see if he could help Jerry possibly before it had begun or after it was over

of the book, after Jerry got beat up by Emile Janza, Goober helped Jerry and told him, " Everything
will be alright..." That was my idea of "good", hole–hearted, honest, loyal, polite, and most of all a
person who helps people when they are in need of help. Goober displayed those traits within the
choices and responsibilities that he had throughout the book. Those are the qualities that I found
very appealing and admirable. I admire him to the fullest extent and I would probably do the same
thing if I were in hiss position.
I despise Archie Costello (The Assigner) the most because he was a part of The Vigils and also
because he was evil. My idea of "evil" is not feeling guilt when that person should feel guilt, being
cruel to people and other things, and most of all a person who has pleasure when inflicting pain on
someone or something, to be specific...a sadistic person. Basically Archie was the biggest evil that
there was according to my standards. For example when Brother Jacques asked, " Why did you do it

Explain Why I Admire Martin Luther King Jr.
First and for most, I admire Martin Luther King Jr. because he was exceptionally brave for making a

scared to have a voice for themselves. By doing so, that itself speaks volumes about just the type of
person he was. Another reason, I admire MLK, is for being the successful preacher he was in such a
tough world he lived in back then. In February 1948, he became a preacher at an Ebenezer Baptist
church in Atlanta, Georgia. Being a preacher had a huge impact on how he protested because
through his inspirational speeches and his strong faith, he created great strategies on how to

Seventeen Principles of Success. PMA influences your tone of voice, your posture, your facial

Don 't mistake humility for timidity; true humility is a recognition that even the great folk are, in the
scheme of human existence, only fragments of the hole. Recognize that the blessing you have a re a
gift to be used for the common good, not topics for every conversation.
So, what exactly makes up a pleasing personality? Well the following are a few of the major
characteristics of people with this superstar quality: Takes a sincere interest in others These people
are truly interested in what others have to share. In conversation, they ask sincere questions, then
wait for their partner to respond. They make eye contact and make the effort to remember the other
party 's name. In essence, they are telling the other person "I respect you, your time, and what you
have to say." Are tolerant Noting is a bigger turn off than hearing someone spew hatred. Regardless
if it 's homophobic, sexist, racist, ageist, etc., intolerance and bigotry is not a good look on anyone.
Keep their word When this person makes a promise, they keep it. Period. Being dependable is

Personal Narrative: My Hero
The person I admire is someone who is confident,, and has a very strong character. Even though she
might not be a firefighter, a doctor, police officer, teacher or maybe even a superhero, she is a
powerful woman. This woman might not look like much but to me she is everything and that person
is my really good friend who I consider a sister, Destiny Figueroa. I believe even though that me and
Destiny might have our ups and downs it will never change how much I love and care for her. Even
though though she is only fifteen, Destiny shows all the characteristics of being a woman because
she is smart, confident, loving, caring, and most of all independent. Even though I just met her
formally last summer, I feel that she is an older sister to me because she helps me out so much
whether she realizes it or not. Destiny has such a great personality and no matter what she never
gives up on anything and that's what I like about her the most and that's what I think is phenomenal.
She has told me many things that she has gone through throughout her life and I just wonder how
she got through it all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

know Destiny as a person who works hard, who doesn't depend on other people, who is confident of

Tips In Fashion
Tips for Experimenting with a New Look
Changing your style can be difficult. The fear of the unknown is often stifling and the initial feeling
of something new can feel uncomfortable. But we all need to step outside of our comfort zone at
times in order to discover something new – and finding out who we really are as human beings.
So, if you are looking to update your style and do something different, here are a few tips to help
you get started. These tips will guarantee you experiment without fear and while still maintaining a
comfortable and personalised style.
Find your ideal fashion muse
You should start by finding a fashion muse. It can be a person you know in real life or a male
celebrity you admire. The key is to find someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To ensure you don't end up wearing colours that are not flattering, you might want to try colour tests
online to find those that suit you the most. You can find tests, which help determine what colours are
best for you. Pick those colours from the list you haven't ever tried or which you didn't think would
suit you.
Play with fabrics
You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known for your
denim outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick something different such as
khaki. Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and opt something different.
If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet one from Moss
Bros. If you've never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a denim jacket or a pair of Levis
jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want to go for the opposite and play with materials
you don't normally wear.
You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non–patter suites, try picking a pin–stripe
suit the next time. On the other hand, if your t–shirts are and shirts are always patterned, consider
opting for simple coloured shirts instead.
Find somewhere new to shop
Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear but the places we
shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you always shop with the same fashion
brand or retailer, you aren't going to end up with unique style.

Vacation, camps, life experiences, and values all bring people together. No matter how you meet

Keanu Reeves Research Paper
According to Mahatma Gandhi, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Keanu Reeves is one
of the best well–known actors, producers, and musicians in the United State. Reeves has been
playing the role of a hero, for he shares his wealth, time, and love with the world. Moreover, Reeves
demonstrates that he is a great man for making positive changes in other people's life. For me,
Reeves is an incomparable person whom I admire because he is a generous person and a role model:
and, he is a sturdy person.

challenges and barriers he had to overcome. For example, he chose to make a different path in life
after witnessing his best friend die of an overdose. He also overcame depression, even though death
follows him like paparazzi in Hollywood. Reeves sister was killed by leukemia; therefore, he funds
millions of dollars to charities and hospital to help those who are diagnosed with the disease.
Regardless of the Reeves loss of his first born child and lover in a car accident, he chose to love
again and helps making other children's life better. In brief, I admire the Reeves role as a provider
and giver to those in needs despite his own life tragedies.
On the whole, I have many reasons for acknowledging Reeves as one of my most admire artists.
When I describe him as generous, model, and sturdy, I feel good because those words also resemble

Essay on Our Town
In the play "Our Town", by Thornton Wilder, a character by the name of Simon Stimson makes a
very insightful statement about people and their lives. Simon is dead and buried, as well as several
of the play's other characters, when a newly–dead young woman named Emily joins their ranks and
begins to realize the triviality and ignorance of her existence, as well as that of every living person.
The dead are discussing this insignificance and unawareness of the living when Simon comments
with disgust on how much living persons waste their life, asserting, "To spend and waste time as
though you had a million years." In this statement, Simon is referring to the degree of which people
take their lives for granted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People live their lives working towards something they think will always be attainable, setting their
eyes on the future, living for the future, rushing for the future, and ignoring the present. With "Our
Town", Thornton Wilder is attempting to show us these faults and trying to persuade us to live in
and for the present and to cherish every day that we live and breathe.
With the people of Grover's Corners representing this daily ignorance and triviality, the lives of the
people who surround me are no exception. Take, for instance, my father, who on most days awakes
early to leave for his job, works all day and comes home only to drive my siblings and I around, run
errands, go to his side jobs, or fix the house, help us with our homework, stay on top of both our
social lives, our moral growth, and our educational careers. Some nights my father will sit down and
watch some television for maybe an hour or two, while most he simply doing everything but
something for himself. On rare occasion is my father allowed to stop and enjoy life, and savor the
moment. Honestly, I would really like to know when the last time was that my father found time to
simply admire his and my mother's garden without actually having to tend it. And yet another
example is my mother, who does not even have to worry about her job most of the time, for she

Analysis Of An American Childhood By Annie Dillard
Analyzing a Writing Essay
The author of An American Childhood, Annie Dillard, shows a great amount of admiration towards
her mother's personal qualities. Dillard looks up to the intelligence, energy, fascination, and
confidence her mother conveys. Admiration does not always include imitation, but shows some kind
of interest. Growing up alongside her mother formed her into the person she has become.
The main quality I believe Annie Dillard admires about her mother is her intelligence. Most of the
anecdotes written throughout the story were expressing her mother's intelligence through her quirks.
Dillard's mother brought up reminders of P.T. Barnum's dictum which was, "You can sell anything to
anybody if you marketed it right." She was also a big believer in own ideas versus using opinions or
ideas from others. Towards the end of page 357, "Always I heard Mother's emotional voice asking
Amy and me the same few questions: "Is that your own idea? Or somebody else's?" When Dillard
mentioned "Giant is a good movie" her mother knew that she had not seen the movie and asked "Is
that your considered opinion?" Overall, Dillard's mother wanted her children to be their own person
and not try to be somebody else or use ideas from other people all the time. ... Show more content

Nothing Is So Necessary For A Young Man Essay

of a hard time he has reading War And Peace. He dislikes the fact that Tolstoy does not go into
significant depth with the characters or plot line. However, he has an even harder time trying to
understand why most people are fans of it. I think the one thing we should take away from this is
how although some might consider Tolstoy's work as a masterpiece of literature, others might not
like it. With his favorite novels, he states, "I read that, and, rightly or wrongly, I heard African
drumming." Yet when he reads Tolstoy, he says he does not hear the same drumming. He wants to

Strength, fortitude, courage, selflessness, and genius come in many forms, and what is perhaps the
most awe–inspiring characteristic of the Plebe summer is that it encapsulates all of these intangibles
and more in a highly concentrated, intense manner. Trying to consider and internalize just how
courageous you are is a frivolous exercise; I will never comprehend the commitment you make,
never comprehend the devotion you give, never comprehend the selflessness you exude, never
comprehend the fortitude you possess. Because of my academic successes and social priorities,
several individuals have celebrated me as a "motivated" and "nice" or "good" person, but when I
compare myself to you, your motivation and goodness indubitably surpass my own, and for that fact
I gain nothing but an unquantifiable respect and admiration for you; you are an extraordinary

Examples Of Figurative Language In Hamlet
Love is a romantic emotion that people may have for one another. Confessing this love for a person
could be one of the most fearful things that one can do. Love can be expressed in many ways and
that is through actions and with words. In "Hamlet 1.3.78." the author uses both of these things. We
see a male falling in love with the female of his dreams. He wants to do whatever he can to be with
her. Soto used a combination OF contrast, descriptive language, and figurative language to help
convey his theme. In line 3 It says, "Alas I confess that I am not true to myself but to/you..." and the
reader can tell that he wants her to know these things. Even though he's not honest with himself, he

I admire the simple, humble heart of people, showing as they care about others, not trying to impress

In order to admire someone, that person has to have qualities that money cannot buy. Many people
loop at the physical appearance, the way we dress, and the material things this person possesses or
gives. To me it should not be that way.

Theme Of Feudal Class In The Canterbury Tales
"Now I have told you shortly, in a clause,/ The rank, the array, the number and the cause/ Of our
assembly in this company" (lines 711–14). Geoffrey Chaucer explains to his readers that he has
given a full description of each of his fellow pilgrims in his General Prologue to The Canterbury
Tales. Along with naming each character, he provides their profession which classifies each pilgrim
into one of three social classes: the religious class, the merchant class, or feudal order. Chaucer
provides a social commentary of the major social classes of his day, and though he criticizes
characters from each class, he most heavily criticizes the religious class more than any other.

The last character Chaucer describes in the feudal class is the Miller, a large and imposing man. The
physical description of him given includes, "His beard, like any sow or fox, was red..."(138). The
color red suggests that the Miller may be a Scotsman, the British and Scottish historically disliked
each other, perhaps extending to Chaucer. Furthermore, Chaucer stated that the Miller was "... a
master–hand at stealing grain. He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew its quality and took three
times his due..." (138). Clearly, the Miller is portrayed as a thief who takes what he wants and is not
above violence to achieve his goals. While everyone but the Miller are admired in the feudal class,
the people in the merchant class are both admired and criticized leaving Chaucer's feeling to be
neutral to the merchant class. Throughout Chaucer's Canterbury tales, he describes the merchant
class as more of neutral type of people, some are admired while others are criticized. The author
uses his personal knowledge to better explain his thoughts about the characters who belong to the
merchant class. The first one he mentions from the merchant class is the Merchant, he is described
as sitting high on his horse as well as making it to where none knew that he was bad in debt. The
narrator states that he does not care much about him, enough so that he does not know his name. The

good at or strive towards with full courage of completing the task. The question that is now in
demand is what is success? Margaret Mead, in her book The Egalitarian Error defines success as,
"while we often rejoice in success of people far removed from ourselves... we tend to regard the
success of people close at hand...as a threat." I can't agree with her statement. To make such a
generalized claim about Americans, as if they are all the same and think and act the same way is not
credible. Furthermore, in her statement she provides no evidence to support her claim. Therefore,
while it may be true of some people, I cannot agree that it is true of all, or even most Americans. ...

Does she mean achieving the American dream – graduating high school, going to college, getting a
job, getting married, having 2.5 children, a house, a dog, a cat, a house, a nice car? Another person
might feel successful only if they become rich, while someone else might not value money, but
value their own happiness. For each person, they seem to know what success means to them.
Lindsey Lohan was a Disney Barbie–doll darling who was a multimillionaire before she was 18
years old, yet how many people would look at her as a success now? The next generalization that
Mead offers us is, "For many Americans, we greatly prize

Mandalas Strengths

  • 1. Mandalas Strengths Mandalas can demonstrate and express so much to a person. They used to not mean anything to me, but the more I learned about them the more I understood how they show the wholeness and meaning of a person. Do you ever give recognition to the things that define you? Do you ever give them some time out of your day to admire them? To be able to demonstrate your strengths and weaknesses in different ways such as the mandala is important. Swimming, piano, and the beach are what represent me. In my opinion, it's wonderful to have something or someone to rely on when you're not having an okay day. That's what the piano has been to me these past six years. The piano is an escape for me and a beautiful and sentimental way I become closer to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Character Analysis Of The Secret Life Of Bees "Every person on the face of the earth makes mistakes, Lily. Every last one. We're all so human. Your mother made a terrible mistake, but she tried to fix it." The quote just before came from the character August Boatwright, an African American woman who lives in Tiburon, South Carolina with her sisters May and June Boatwright. There are many characters in the book of The Secret Life of Bees that have this unique personality which brings many life to the story but August mainly struck my eye compared to the rest of them. She has this personality that shows her intelligence and warmhearted person that brought me to admire her. The intelligence in August Boatwright brought me to the conclusion of her being so admirable. Sue Monk Kidd brought August into the story that would be helpful in the storyline. August is seen as this surrogate mother to her sisters as well as to Lily. She has this knowledge that has helped everyone in the story figure out their problem. The moment Lily walked through the door, she noticed something but kept it to herself. Viewing every little thing about Lily as she stayed with them, helping her with daily needs and the business she ran at the house. This moment stuck with August because she knew she was Deborah's child. In the end of the story, Lily reveals to AUgust she is daughter of Deborah and clearly August knew from the start because that is what she noticed about Lily. She was able to tell that since it was a miniature version of Deborah. But ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. 3 Types Of Heroes Research Paper "he·ro[ˈhirō]NOUN heroes (plural noun) 1. a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." Most people think of this definition when they think of the word "hero", however when others think of the word "Hero" a different definition comes to mind. A hero is a person who other people look up to for guidance because they impacted their lives and whenever there was a tough situation that person got through it. That definition are also three traits that every hero needs. While there are many different types of heroes, the following three character traits are generalized to fit most heroes. A hero is someone who impacts someone's life in any way, regardless if it emotionally or physically. For instance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jeydon Wale is 26 years old and lives in Canada. He makes YouTube videos for a living, where he posted about his life and also life advice while also being humorous. Jeydon Wale was born a female, but felt he had a brain of a male, and later changed his appearance to match what he felt on the inside. Jeydon Wale has faced many difficulties throughout his life, such as being bullied as a child, having his mother almost die, and being suicidal. He says his own quote at the end of each of his videos which is "Stay Strong, Stay Beautiful, Stay You." I find this quote empowering because it means that you should never let other people who you are, which is everything that Jeydon Wale stands for. In his Videos Jeydon Wale expresses the importance of being yourself, having self confidence, and loving yourself. I admire his values because around my age a lot of people start to feel as if they are not worth anything, that no one understands how they feel, or that they should just abide by society's standards; and Jeydon is here saying that you should be your own person and to not listen to what anyones says about who you are no matter how hard it is. • 9. Hazel Grace Lancaster In The Fault In Our Stars By John Green From the book, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, is a person to admire. Foremost, she is a person to admire since she is selfless and caring. First, Hazel is a person to admire since she is selfless. For example, Hazel parents are excited by Hazel trip to Amsterdam as they talk about it for dinner, but notice that Hazel is unusually quiet, and they confront her about it. Hazel responds that she is like a grenade and that she'll someday explode so she'll like to reduce any casualties. "'I'm a grenade,' I said again, 'I just want to stay from away people and read books and think and be with you guys because there's nothing I can do about hurting you; you're too invested, so just please let me ... "(I didn't tell him that the diagnosis came three months after I got my first period. Like: Congratulations! You're a woman. Now die)" (Green 24). This shows Hazel is a person to admire since she is humorous because she jokes about the irony of her becoming a woman to soon be basically diagnosed with character and most likely dying instead of being depressed or self–pitying. Lastly, Hazel is a person to admire since she is smart. In particular, when first conversing with Augustus in the car, she mentions that due to her condition, she had to drop out of from high school, and she can't go back since she already has taken her GED so now she taking classes from the local community college. This shows that Hazel is a person to admire since she is smart because although, she has dropped out of school, she was still able to take the quite tough test, GED, in order to do so, and seems to be fine taking college level classes at her age of sixteen. Therefore, Hazel is funny and smart, making her a person to admire. In conclusion, the main character in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Hazel Grace Lancaster, is an admirable ... Whether it is a family member, a friend, or just a great person, role models are phenomenal things for people to have. Role models can help you strive for greatness, or make you yearn to be an overall better person. One individual that I look up to is Derek Jeter because he lived a life full of adversity, he attacks challenges with ferocity, and he performs under intense pressure. Many people have lived hard lives and gone on to greatness. This is definitely the case with Derek Jeter. The first reason that Derek Jeter is my role model is because he lived a life full of adversity. Derek's mother was white, while his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter how much pressure you put on him, he will never break down or falter. The third and final reason why I admire Jeter is he performs well under tremendous pressure. When D.J. was brought up from the minors, he was chosen to wear number two. This is very symbolic in the Yankee organization. The Yankees only gave these low numbers to the players who were supposed to be exceptional. This meant that Derek was to follow in the footsteps of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle. These expectations made him very nervous, but Jeter still performed extraordinarily. The other reason that D.J. is under tremendous pressure is because he plays on the most recognized sports franchise in history. No matter what he does, he's under a ton of scrutiny. A third reason that he's under this pressure is that not only is Derek a player on the Yankee, but he is actually there team captain. Being the captain of the New York Yankees is the hardest job available in sports. You don't have any room for a single mistake. This is the last reason why D.J. is my role model. Over the course of his prolific MLB career, Derek Jeter has silenced a lot of critics and made a lot of people realize that you don't have to be born with talent to make something with your life. I feel honored that I am alive during the life of this great player. Derek Jeter is my role model because he lived a life full of adversity, he attacks challenges with ferocity, and ... The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay In the book called "The Secret Life of Bee's" written by Sue Monk Kidd there are characters such as Lily, Rosaline, T.Ray, Deborah, August, May, Zach, etc. From the list of characters stated one that I admire the most and seem to have a lot in common in is Zach. I admire him due to his determination, his want to be a lawyer, and especially due to the fact that he plays football. Well Zachery Taylor (His full name) is as determined as they come. Living in a world full of Racist white men with white privilege breathing down his neck. Zach will just keep on churning through everything. Small examples of his determination are Law schools being explicit to whites only. Stating his only way of being educated is unavailable. Some ways he tries to overcome this is communicating with Clayton Forrest (Lawyer). He ends up learning off Clayton to learn tips and tricks. He uses it as an alternative to school. Falling in love with Lily also shows another hump in his life that he overcomes with determination. However, by viewing his choices, I can easily decide how I perceive his character. Winston is a person I generally admire even though there are some aspects of him that I disfavor. Winston constantly makes the decision to rebel against Big Brother in little ways. Some examples of this are when he wrote "DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER" multiple times in a journal, meeting with and having a relationship with Julia, and by involving himself with the Brotherhood. • 23. Ed Kennedy's Response To The Messenger Ed is the only person in the novel we can admire. Discuss. The Messenger shows that by behaving in an altruistic way, our admiration towards a person grows. Throughout the novel many different altruistic acts have been achieved by the protagonist, Ed Kennedy. By the end of the book we have developed a level of respect and admiration for him as he managed to transform himself and others around him. Markus Zusak was sending Ed messages to get him to behave in that manner but he was also sending a message to the reader to also start behaving that way. All these can relate back to the altruistic tasks that have been achieved and how they influenced Ed's life and can easily influence ours. At the start of the novel we see Ed, a 19–year–old ... Machiavelli influences the modern political science we still use today, and continue to pave his paths. His book, The Prince uses Renaissance values and applies them to politics, intriguing most everyone. His book targets powerful men, teaching them how to gain and maintain power. "It is not at all necessary for a prince to have all the good qualities which I have named, but it is necessary to seem to have them" (Machiavelli). Although Machiavelli gained his power, not every man can, to this extent, Machiavelli is saying that in order to build the status of an idol, you must project the idea of power. It is of known fact that people with power are admired, thus, Machiavelli wrote a book teaching individuals how to gain power, and become and idol themselves. Take, for instance, my father, who on most days awakes early to leave for his job, works all day and comes home only to drive my siblings and I around, run errands, go to his side jobs, or fix the house, help us with our homework, stay on top of both our social lives, our moral growth, and our educational careers. Some nights my father will sit down and watch some television for maybe an hour or two, while most he simply doing everything but something for himself. On rare occasion is my father allowed to stop and enjoy life, and savor the moment. Honestly, I would really like to know when the last time was that my father found time to simply admire his and my mother's garden without actually having to tend it. And yet another example is my mother, who does not even have to worry about her job most of the time, for she works once to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. A Hero's Journey My life has always been a series of transitional phases that was as every–changing as the seasons themselves. The words of my literary heroes were my utmost comfort; they inspired my confidence and my character, and moved me to be a more visceral, understanding person. I believe that during my time I have been wizened, and connected to the roots of all humanity; in my imagination I see it as the growth of a sampling into the dampness of the earth and the jaded formation of rough bark. Ralph Waldo Emerson, whose transcendental views have inspired me, was once quoted as saying, "Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen." I believe that is true, and with every choice I'm reminded of that hopeful and assertive message. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kennedy, to the witty and unprejudiced tales of Oscar Wilde, and to the harsh and revealing, though poetically offset verses of Dante. These are to name a few that at first come to mind. Through Frida I learned strength and self acceptance, "I paint myself because I am so often alone, and because I am the subject I know best," and from Nietzsche an understanding of myself and the world around me, "You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist." In the pages of Profiles in Courage I learned to admire and seek to seek within myself courage, and leadership. "A man does what he must – in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures – and that is the basis of all human morality."From Oscar Wilde I embraced my own individuality as well as I learned to accept others', and appreciated life for its beauty and its chaos. • 54. Analysis Of An American Childhood By Annie Dillard Analyzing a Writing Essay The author of An American Childhood, Annie Dillard, shows a great amount of admiration towards her mother's personal qualities. Dillard looks up to the intelligence, energy, fascination, and confidence her mother conveys. Admiration does not always include imitation, but shows some kind of interest. Growing up alongside her mother formed her into the person she has become. The main quality I believe Annie Dillard admires about her mother is her intelligence. Most of the anecdotes written throughout the story were expressing her mother's intelligence through her quirks. Dillard's mother brought up reminders of P.T. Barnum's dictum which was, "You can sell anything to anybody if you marketed it right." She was also a big believer in own ideas versus using opinions or ideas from others. Towards the end of page 357, "Always I heard Mother's emotional voice asking Amy and me the same few questions: "Is that your own idea? Or somebody else's?" When Dillard mentioned "Giant is a good movie" her mother knew that she had not seen the movie and asked "Is that your considered opinion?" Overall, Dillard's mother wanted her children to be their own person and not try to be somebody else or use ideas from other people all the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 56. Nothing Is So Necessary For A Young Man Essay In his piece, "Nothing Is So Necessary for a Young Man...," Ta–Nehisi Coates discusses how much of a hard time he has reading War And Peace. He dislikes the fact that Tolstoy does not go into significant depth with the characters or plot line. However, he has an even harder time trying to understand why most people are fans of it. I think the one thing we should take away from this is how although some might consider Tolstoy's work as a masterpiece of literature, others might not like it. With his favorite novels, he states, "I read that, and, rightly or wrongly, I heard African drumming." Yet when he reads Tolstoy, he says he does not hear the same drumming. We are writing this letter with intent to share our thoughts and appreciation for the book. Dawn: I thoroughly enjoyed Farewell to Manzanar and found Jeanne's character very interesting. I admire the way that she handles prejudice with maturity but also found it touching and sad when she blames herself for being different. One of my favorite lines in the book is when Jeanne's father says, "When your mother and your father are having a fight, do you want them to kill each other? Or do you just want them to stop fighting?" I found this line very well written and it has such a deeper meaning if you really think about it. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I sifted through the details of your unimaginably rigorous summer, my mind swelled with a pervasive sentiment of admiration for you and your fellow Plebes. Strength, fortitude, courage, selflessness, and genius come in many forms, and what is perhaps the most awe–inspiring characteristic of the Plebe summer is that it encapsulates all of these intangibles and more in a highly concentrated, intense manner. Trying to consider and internalize just how courageous you are is a frivolous exercise; I will never comprehend the commitment you make, never comprehend the devotion you give, never comprehend the selflessness you exude, never comprehend the fortitude you possess. Because of my academic successes and social priorities, several individuals have celebrated me as a "motivated" and "nice" or "good" person, but when I compare myself to you, your motivation and goodness indubitably surpass my own, and for that fact I gain nothing but an unquantifiable respect and admiration for you; you are an extraordinary person, and I use the word "extraordinary" judiciously. ... • 62. Dave Grohl Research Paper Who I admire: Dave Grohl Many people do not realize what it means to be a musician, much less a famous musician. You need to be smart, talented and charasmatic. Dave grohl has achieved all three of these things. He has completed the goals of many young men, including myself. Dave has been in many successful bands and written and performed multiple hit songs. Dave Grohl Has many admirable attributes but considering my time constraints, I will only touch a few of them. The first amazing that I will discuss is the fact that he can write songs. General audiences do not realize how difficult it is to write songs. You must first come up with a part. After that extenuating process you have to make other parts that match the original part. Dave has such amazing talent that he writes most of the parts to his songs. The first album of his newest band(Foo Fighters) was all written, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The craziest part about him being able to play all of these instruments is that he plays them just as well, if not better, than someone who focuses solely on one one instrument. He can even sing! Dave is the lead singer and plays guitar for his Current band "The Foo Fighters". I can not think of another person that can play as well or as many instruments as Dave Grohl. My final, and perhaps my favorite part about Dave, is How many bands he has been in. Dave Grohl has been in some of my favorite bands including "Foo Fighters" , "Queens of the Stone Age", and ,the most famous, "Nirvana". The fact that he was in such famous and successful bands shows why many people respect and admire him. Dave was first well–known for being in a massive band called "Nirvana". Confessing this love for a person could be one of the most fearful things that one can do. Love can be expressed in many ways and that is through actions and with words. In "Hamlet 1.3.78." the author uses both of these things. We see a male falling in love with the female of his dreams. He wants to do whatever he can to be with her. Soto used a combination OF contrast, descriptive language, and figurative language to help convey his theme. In line 3 It says, "Alas I confess that I am not true to myself but to/you..." and the reader can tell that he wants her to know these things. • 66. Christopher Gonzalez I admire the simple, humble heart of people, showing as they care about others, not trying to impress anyone or be the center of attention. Especially for its ability to respect others. When I admire someone, I do it by looking at many things, but never at his physical appearance or economic status. In order to admire someone, that person has to have qualities that money cannot buy. Many people loop at the physical appearance, the way we dress, and the material things this person possesses or gives. To me it should not be that way. Although this person has been through a lot in his life, he has never lost hope and desire to move forward. He does not give up easily, but continues with his modesty and good heart. My Mom Research Paper Heroes come in many shapes and sizes, like the iconic heroes we see on the big screen, for example, Batman and Superman, or normal everyday heroes, like a doctor or a firefighter. But I think that the biggest hero is the one that is closest to me, and that is my Mom. Everyday, I admire and look up to her, and others should too. My Mom teaches heroic life lessons that you and I should admire her for. A time this happened is when I first realized my Mom was my hero at the age of 5. We had just moved into a small town called Livingston, from New York City. So, naturally, I was very nervous that I would have no friends and was refusing to go to the first day of Kindergarten. I decided that I wouldn't move at all. But my Mom promised me I would have a good time, comforted me, and with a kiss, picked me up and carried me into the car, all while saying that my education is the most important thing in the world. • 72. Theme Of Feudal Class In The Canterbury Tales "Now I have told you shortly, in a clause,/ The rank, the array, the number and the cause/ Of our assembly in this company" (lines 711–14). Geoffrey Chaucer explains to his readers that he has given a full description of each of his fellow pilgrims in his General Prologue to The Canterbury Tales. Along with naming each character, he provides their profession which classifies each pilgrim into one of three social classes: the religious class, the merchant class, or feudal order. Chaucer provides a social commentary of the major social classes of his day, and though he criticizes characters from each class, he most heavily criticizes the religious class more than any other. The last character Chaucer describes in the feudal class is the Miller, a large and imposing man. The physical description of him given includes, "His beard, like any sow or fox, was red..."(138). The color red suggests that the Miller may be a Scotsman, the British and Scottish historically disliked each other, perhaps extending to Chaucer. Furthermore, Chaucer stated that the Miller was "... a master–hand at stealing grain. He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew its quality and took three times his due..." (138). Clearly, the Miller is portrayed as a thief who takes what he wants and is not above violence to achieve his goals. While everyone but the Miller are admired in the feudal class, the people in the merchant class are both admired and criticized leaving Chaucer's feeling to be neutral to the merchant class. Throughout Chaucer's Canterbury tales, he describes the merchant class as more of neutral type of people, some are admired while others are criticized. The author uses his personal knowledge to better explain his thoughts about the characters who belong to the merchant class. The first one he mentions from the merchant class is the Merchant, he is described as sitting high on his horse as well as making it to where none knew that he was bad in debt. The narrator states that he does not care much about him, enough so that he does not know his name. The next character Chaucer mentions is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people achieve success in things they are good at or strive towards with full courage of completing the task. The question that is now in demand is what is success? Margaret Mead, in her book The Egalitarian Error defines success as, "while we often rejoice in success of people far removed from ourselves... we tend to regard the success of people close at hand...as a threat." I can't agree with her statement. To make such a generalized claim about Americans, as if they are all the same and think and act the same way is not credible.
