Gun Control Opinion
February 17, 2014
Gun control is one of the biggest debates in the United States, one that has went on for
many years now but no one can find the right answer. I honestly have no idea how the
government could possibly fix this problem. No matter what decision they would make, there
seems to always be something going against it. In my opinion, I definitely feel like strict gun
control is not the right answer for many reasons.
First off, criminals do not follow the law. If the government puts any kind of stricter rules
on guns, criminals will just find some other way to get what they want. They could buy them on
the black market, they could hire someone to purchase the guns for them, or they could even
steal them. They will get whatever weapon they want whether there is a law against it or not.
Stricter gun control would also take away how people can defend themselves. Like I said
before, a criminal will have a gun no matter what, but a normal person won’t, which will make
them an easier target. Criminals won’t have to worry as much when doing something illegal
because no one else really has guns. This would not get rid of violence, but actually make it
worse.
One of the biggest reasons is the fact that guns do not kill people, people kill people. It is
not the guns we need to control. We need to control people. It is our society that has gotten out of
control and that is the biggest problem.
