It’s official, 2014 is upon us. We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season.
It’s almost impossible to talk about the new year without mentioning everyone’s favorite
R word this time of year. That’s right. Resolutions! Do you plan to have any New Year’s
resolutions for the upcoming year? We compiled a list of our own. See if any of yours
compare.

New Year’s Recipe:
Sugar Coated Pecans
Ingredients:
1 egg white
1 tablespoon of water
1 pound of pecan halves
1 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Grease one
baking sheet.
2. In a mixing bowl, whip together the egg
white and water until frothy. In a separate
bowl, mix together sugar, salt, and cinna-
mon.
3. Add pecans to egg whites, stir to coat the
nuts evenly. Remove the nuts, and toss
them in the sugar mixture until coated.
Spread the nuts out on prepared baking
sheet.
4. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour. Stir every
15 mins.

Global Art Project for Peace
This is a chance to create artwork for the Global Art Project for Peace. After we
display your artwork at the library in April, we will conduct an art exchange with
another country. There will be dates throughout the month of March to come to
the library and work on your project. We can also deliver some art materials to
you if necessary. For more information and to register, call the Outreach Depart-
ment by February 26th, 2014.

Last year, we had the pleasure of being able to provide more
programming to our patrons and this year we hope to do even more.
Such programs this past year have included: tie dye, adult story times,
games days and computer classes as well as helping to download books
onto e-readers.

January 13...Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) Educational Seminar. 6-8:00pm.
Presented by Thomas Grainger, who is a local financial adviser and Medicaid
Services Certified Agent, will discuss the details of the Affordable Care Act and
how to choose the best plan for you. Seminar to be held at the Westerville Public

January 15 & 16...Social Security Seminar. 6-7pm. Presented by Josh Pick and
Adam Brookings with Aptus tax. This program is designed to educate consum-
ers and to enable them to make better choices regarding Social Security.
January 24...Rick Helwig Presents: Ghost Towns of Central Ohio. 7:30pm at the
Westerville Public Library. 126 S. State St. Sponsored by Westerville Historical
Society.
February 22...Authors @ Your Library. Award winning and
bestselling author Lee Child knows how to keep pulses
racing with one of the most intriguing heroes in print–
Jack Reacher. Meet Mr. Child at a reception held at Old
Bag of Nails pub from 5-6:15pm, 24 N. State St. (3rd floor),
hosted by Westerville Library Foundation. A following
presentation by Lee Child will be held at Westerville
Central High School from 7:30-9pm.
