2. Introduction
Firstly – Congratulations on your
massive weight loss and making
the necessary lifestyle changes to
live a happier healthier life.
My name is Angela Chouaib. In
2009 I was in the same position
as you probably are now –
trawling the net, leafing through
medical literature and altogether
overwhelmed by the options
available to a woman wanting
plastic surgery. Surely there was
an easier way?
My frustration was compounded by more than just the search for a perfect
plastic surgeon. Having shed ten stone through gastric bypass surgery, I now
had to face the long wait until I’d ascended the NHS waiting list. The
length of time I would have to wait would be two years. I needed an
alternative solution!
Finally, my seemingly endless search bore fruit. I’d found my dream
hospital and surgeon, the fact that it was in Poland didn’t concern me so
long as the treatment I received was top-class. In April 2010 I flew from
the UK, and had my tummy tuck. Any previous reservations I had were
unfounded – not only was the customer care exemplary, but the treatment
exceeded all my expectations! I returned just a month later for a breast
reduction and uplift.
When I returned home the second time, I couldn’t help but feel the
hospital and surgeon deserved more recognition. Back home people were
paying exorbitant rates for treatments they could receive in Poland for a
fraction of the price. But the stigma around medical tourism practices
remained. Back street butchers and cheap boob jobs were the images
associated with surgery abroad. Without reaching for the nearest
megaphone and calling doubters forth to scrutinise my treatments, I had to
do something. Secret Surgery Ltd was about to be born.

years ago.

taking care to tick the customer service box while we’re at it. You matter to
us. We are a personal business, and the business is personal.

abroad involves so many options – where, when, who, how? That’s why we

dates, hotels and procedures – we’ll take care of it. And because most of
our business is through personal recommendation, you know you’re in safe

waiting list or shell out outrageous sums of money for treatment? We’ll fly
you to Wroclaw and ensure your comfort from touch-down to take-off. It’s
that simple.
Please read through the extremely comprehensive quote below – This
should indicate the standard of service to expect from start to finish….. If I
can be of further assistance please feel free to pick up the telephone and
call 0843 289 4 982; I’m ready and waiting to take your call…
Best wishes

6. Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty)
The best candidates for the tummy tuck procedure are people after
multiply pregnancies or basically women who lost significant amount
of weight and were left with excess of skin and fat tissue in the
abdominal area which do not respond to diet or exercises. Tummy
tuck (abdominoplasty) can also reduce scars after other surgeries in
the abdominal area (for example caesarean, C-sections etc.) and
partly reduce stretch marks. The Tummy tuck may be performed as a
full abdominoplasty or as a mini tummy tuck. If necessary during the
same procedure liposuction can be performed.
The Full tummy tuck involves works in the area of mid and lower
stomach together with tightening up the abdominal wall and also
navel replacement. So the scar runs from hip to hip - the incision is
made in the area of pubic bone. Whereas in case of mini tummy tuck
the incision is shorter (similar to caesarean) and the navel may not
be replaced (also recovery time is shorter) - basically mini
abdominoplasty is less invasive. In general scar after tummy tuck can
be easily covered by underwear.
Abdominoplasty is a major and serious procedure. Like each surgery
it carries risks but in comparison with other cosmetic surgeries
abdominoplasty carries higher risk of complications and longer length
of recovery. All pros and cons of the surgery should be discussed by
plastic surgeon with a patient.
For the first few days abdomen will probably be swollen and bruised,
a patient feels some pain and discomfort which can be controlled by
painkillers. But it will take a while until a patient will feel like herself again. For sure recovery
is quicker for those patients who were in good shape / exercised their body before the
surgery. Basically exercise help to heal better and reduce swelling and also lower the
chance of blood clot. Tummy tuck produces excellent results and in most cases, the results
are long lasting.
Time of the procedure: 3-4 hours.
Anaesthetic: Procedure is performed under general anaesthetic.
The length of stay with us: After the procedure, the patient stays at the clinic for 2 days,
and then remains under the doctor's control for up to 10 days until the stitches removal.
Recommendations to be followed after the procedure:
You must wear a special elastic abdomen belt or corset
During the first 6 weeks you cannot do any exercises, e.g. aerobic, fitness,
swimming, etc.
During the first 6 months: sun-bathing, solarium and sauna are forbidden
Avoid injuries of the abdominal area
10 days after the surgery it is good idea to start treating the incision with ointments-
Dermatix, that help the scar to flatten out and lighten in colour.
Each patient receives individual information concerning further procedures at the
discharge from the clinic.

7. Thigh Lift (Thighplasty)
Thigh Lift
Thigh lift plastic surgery is an excellent way to achieve firmer and more attractive-
looking upper legs. Especially helpful for those who have loose, excess skin as a
result of weight loss, thigh lift, or thighplasty, can help tone and refine your legs so
you can show off a new, thinner you! There are many options with thigh lift
surgery. Learn about the various ways to reshape your legs by reading about the
procedures listed to the right.
Types of Thigh Lifts
There are several different types of thigh lifts that target certain areas for specific
results. During your thigh lift surgery consultation, your surgeon will discuss with
you your treatment options and the results you can expect from thighplasty. This
consultation will help determine what, if any, type of thigh lift surgery is right for
you.
Inner Thigh Lift
As indicated by its name, an inner thigh lift targets the inner thigh. This type of
thigh lift helps people who have trouble eliminating excess fat from this area of the
body through diet and exercise. An inner thigh lift may also be used to treat
reduced skin elasticity caused by the aging process or extreme weight loss. During
an inner thigh lift, an incision is made at the junction of the thigh and pubic area. A
wedge of skin, and possibly fat, is then removed and the skin in tightened to
provide an improved leg contour and enhanced skin elasticity. During your inner
thigh lift consultation, an experienced surgeon will thoroughly discuss your
individual case and possible risk factors.
Bilateral Thigh Lift
The bilateral thigh lift procedure is designed to tighten skin on the front and outside
of the leg. During a bilateral thigh lift, the surgeon makes an incision at the top of
the leg where the lower edge of a bikini bottom or pair of underwear would be. A
certain amount of skin is then removed before the surgeon pulls the remaining skin
up and attaches it to the same area. In this way, a bilateral thigh lift serves to
tighten skin along both the right and left side of the leg. This procedure is
especially helpful to those who have excess skin after an extreme weight loss.
During your consultation, a surgeon experienced in bilateral thigh lift will determine
if you are a good candidate for this procedure.
Medial Thigh Lift
A medial thigh lift reduces excess skin and fat on the upper portion of the inner
thigh. It is designed for patients who are dissatisfied with the shape of their legs or
who would like to remove excess skin after an extreme weight loss. During a
medial thigh lift procedure, an incision is made in the groin that goes to the back of
the crease of the buttock. Skin in then lifted and excess skin and fat are removed
to improve the shape of the leg and tighten the skin. If you are interested in a
medial thigh lift, an experienced surgeon will discuss with you your goals for
treatment and determine if you are a candidate for this or any other thigh lift

8. procedures.
Will a Thigh Lift Leave Visible Scars?
Thigh lifts do leave scars. However, thigh lift scars are usually located in a
relatively inconspicuous location and, in the minds of many patients, pale in
comparison to the benefits provided by the procedure. In many cases, thigh lift
scars are easily concealed by underwear or bathing suits. If you are considering
thigh lift surgery but fear the prospect of scars, an experienced thigh lift surgeon
can discuss this possibility, as well as any other potentially negative aspects of the
procedure so that you can make an informed decision. Scars are, unfortunately,
one aspect of thigh lift surgery that patients must weigh against the benefits of
eliminating excess fat and skin tissue.

9. Breast uplift (Mastopexy)
The best candidates for breast lift are women who have
significantly sagging breast skin. The reason of such a situation
is ageing process, weight loss, long breast feeding, post-
pregnancy, etc. The surgery involves cut of skin excess, lift of
gland and reposition of nipples in order to gain a result of firm
and perky breasts. There is also a possibility of inserting implant
during the same procedure.
During direct assessment a plastic surgeon is choosing the best
techniques of breast lift for particular patient. Depending on
extent of sagging breasts, their shape and size the most
common techniques are: so called incision upside down T letter
(round the nipple, vertically down and in natural curve below the
breast), L letter (round the nipple and vertically down) or only
round the nipple incision. The surgery leaves patient with visible
scars.
After the surgery a patient should stay in the clinic at least 2
nights. It should be enough to remove drains after that time.
During first week a patient feels pain and discomfort which can
be controlled by painkillers.
Although breast lift is rather safe procedure, each surgery
caries some risk. It does not harm a breast gland so there is a
possibility of breast feeding in the future. A complication can be
permanent difference in nipple sensation, bleeding, infection. All
risks connected with undergoing the surgery should be
discussed with your surgeon during direct assessment.
Time of the procedure: 3 hours.
Anaesthetic: Procedure is performed under general
anaesthetic.
The length of stay with us: After the procedure, the patient
stays at the clinic for 2 days, and then remains under the
doctor's control for up to 10-12 days.
Recommendations to be followed after the procedure:
during first 6 weeks it is necessary to wear a special bra
in case of office workers 1 week of work leave is recommended whereas in case of manual
workers 2 weeks of work leave are recommended
scars will be pink up to a few months
about 3 weeks after the surgery incision should be treated with a special ointments - Dermatix
that help to heal the scars and make them whiten
during the first 6 weeks you cannot do any exercises, e.g. aerobic, fitness, swimming, etc.
during the first 3 months: sun-bathing, solarium and sauna are forbidden
each patient receives detailed individual information concerning further procedures at the
discharge from the clinic.

10. Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
Brachioplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the upper arm.
Arm tissue relaxes and descends with aging, gravity, and weight loss. Especially after
significant weight loss, most people are left with stretched and excess skin that no amount of
exercise will improve. One area particularly affected is the upper arms, where women tend to
store excess fat and have less supporting muscle tone.
The drooping of skin is from a stretching of the anchoring fascial system and loss of
supporting fat. The extra sagging can result in a significant "loose hammock" like deformity
from the axilla to the elbow. Some call this a "bat wing" deformity. Also, if the skin has poor
elasticity and will not contract with conventional liposculpture then brachioplasty is indicated.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) - The Surgery
Brachioplasty is usually done under general anesthesia. It involves excision of skin along the
lower border of the arm and will leave a thin scar along the inside of the arm. There are
different degrees of ptosis (drooping) deformity. Brachioplasty can remove the excess tissue
and reduce the circumference of the upper arm. Surgical correction depends on the amount
of extra skin and how loose the supporting tissues have become. Extra skin is removed from
incisions along the inner arm. The incision must be placed where the tissue can be best
tightened.
The most common incision used for brachioplasty extends from the elbow to the axilla. This
permits the excision to maximally address the redundant skin in the middle of the arm.
Modification of the incision may be necessary to limit scar contracture in the axilla. Surgical
sculpture involves not just the superficial skin, but also the deeper attachments that have
loosened.
A combined excision can sometimes limit the length of the scar between the elbow and
axilla. In cases where there is loose skin of the lateral chest, the incision can be extended to
Secret Surgery Ltd, Company Registered No: 7437618
Email: Info@secretsurgery.co.uk, Tel: 0843 289 4 982
11. deal with the extra tissue there. Before brachioplasty surgery markings help guide the
excision. The actual incision may curve or zigzag to minimize scar contraction. Liposuction
can be useful to contour the fat layer. A skinny rubber drain may be used after surgery to
remove fluids.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) - Risks
Because of the level of the brachioplasty incisions, visible scars can be a major concern. It
becomes a choice between the loose wobbling extra skin and the scar from the excision.
Meticulous surgical technique and good after surgery scar care can limit the degree of
scarring.
Clothing style can help camouflage some of the brachioplasty scar, but not the loose skin
before surgery. Other possible complications include persistent swelling of the arm, infection,
bruising, and bleeding. Nerve injury can result in numbness and change in feeling.
Brachioplasty is not suitable after mastectomy or operations in the axilla lymph nodes. Those
with multiple infections of the sweat gland may also not be candidates for brachioplasty.
Drainage of the arm may already be impaired, and further surgery may lead to permanent
arm swelling.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) - After Surgery Care
Recovery post brachioplasty takes one to two weeks. Swelling is generally mild to moderate,
and peaks at 2 to 3 days. While each person's recovery is unique, bruising and swelling after
an arm lift generally lasts 1 to 2 weeks. You'll probably be able to return to work in a week,
and resume exercise within 2 weeks. Strenuous workouts and contact sports can be
engaged in after about four weeks.
The dressing may be extensive after brachioplasty with elastic support or something smaller.
You will need to protect the incisions after surgery. Limiting lifting is important. Elevation with
pillows increases comfort. It can take 6 months or more to see how the scars will evolve.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) - Results
Patients benefit from improved balance and proportion in the contour of the arm, often
resulting in greater confidence and comfort in clothing.

Angela says...
"When going abroad for operations such as yours, it's
important to consider more than price. Though some believe
"you get what you pay for", this opinion is clearly flawed;
after all, our procedures reflect the competitive prices in
Poland, yet are carried out by specialists in cosmetic
surgery with years of multinational experience. Look for more than just price. If
shopping for cosmetic surgery deals, read up on the facility's staff, the quality of
equipment and the hospital's track record."

Medicine – All medicine whilst in hospital is covered in the cost however just like in the UK
the doctor will issue a prescription at discharge for antibiotics which cost around £7 to
purchase at the pharmacy.
Medical Travel Insurance – Its advisable to purchase specialist Travel Insurance policy – a
standard policy won’t cover you. I recommend http://medicaltravelshield.com/ They cover
everything including refunding non-refundable deposits should you no be fit enough to travel
or run into complications whilst in destination. Also cover return flights and associated costs
should you need to return to destination for medical reasons.

20. After Care in the UK
You need to be aware that there has been a change in the NHS which means that if you
have an elective surgical procedure privately then you must have full after care relating to
this procedure privately to.
With any surgical procedure there are potential risks and complications and the surgeon,
doctor of consultant will advise you of all risk in advance of signing any contract to proceed
with surgery. The vast majority of patients don’t need any aftercare on their return to the UK,
However it better to have a qualified doctor that is easy to contact in case you need it on
your return.
Rather than charge each patient a set fee for after care that they may never need or use; it is
easier to offer a “pay as you go” facility. The set fee per post-operative after care
consultation is fixed at £100 per hour £50 for stitches removal.
