The Saints Of God
I Thessalonians 5:17-24
“Pray without ceasing. In every thing give
thanks: for this is the will of God In Chris Jesus
concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise
not prophesying. Prove all things, hold fast that
which is good. Abstain from all appearance
of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify
you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit
and soul and body be preserved blameless
unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calleth you who also will do it.”

7. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
INTRODUCTION
The wonderful principle of forgiveness has
been described in many ways in the body
of Christ. Some have suggested that
forgiveness equals forgetfulness. Others
have taught that forgiveness means God
views the sinner as if he had never sinned.
In Psalm 32, the Psalmist David expressed
the joy of being forgiven. As a result he
was free to enjoy and serve his Lord.
8. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
The blessedness of being forgiven (Psalm 32:1-2).
David began his psalm with a personal and
powerful testimony to the joy of
forgiveness. His sin had been taken away.
His sin had been taken away. His guilt had
been graciously removed by God's
forgiveness.
When the believer lives his life with the
knowledge that sin no longer has
dominion over him, he experiences the
awesome reality of a free and candid
Christian testimony. believers need to
humbly seek and accept God's forgiveness,
which will free them to impact the lives of
others.
9. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
The process of accepting forgiveness (Psalm 32:
3-5).
In his sinful condition, David did not really
confess his sins and accept God's
forgiveness. His stubborn refusal caused
him to experience emotional and physical
distress. When he openly agreed with God
about his sin, David knew that this faithful
God forgave him.
It is not easy for a person to give up when
he perceives that he has control, even
when in reality it is someone or something
else that is controlling him. Addicts are a
perfect example of this truth. We need to
acknowledge that the only legitimate
control in the life of a believer belongs to
God.
10. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
God's involvement in providing forgiveness (Psalm 32:6-
9).
The Psalmist seemed to indicate that God invited His
child to enter into His forgiving presence. When this
happens, God delivers His child from overwhelming
trouble and surrounds him with harmonious pardon.
11. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
The joy of being forgiven (Psalm 32:10-11).
The ungodly who do not receive God's
forgiveness experience substantial sorrow. The
righteous multitude who trusts the Lord for
forgiveness, though, will be surrounded with
God's mercy and will experience glad rejoicing
that will motivate them to "shout for joy."
12. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
God's involvement in providing forgiveness (Psalm 32:6-
9).
The Psalmist seemed to indicate that God invited His
child to enter into His forgiving presence. When this
happens, God delivers His child from overwhelming
trouble and surrounds him with harmonious pardon.
13. SUMMER QUARTER 2012
ESSENTIAL THOUGHT:

1. How did David describe what was
happening in his life before he faced and
confessed his sin?

genuinely confess our sins?
