This document advertises a two-day experiential workshop on complex facilitation methods for engagement and innovation. The workshop will teach participants how to maximize collaboration through principles of complex facilitation, use frameworks like Cynefin for sensemaking and decision making, and apply narrative research tools. The facilitators have expertise in complex facilitation, partnering, community engagement and innovation. Participants are encouraged to bring a complex issue to apply the methods learned. The workshop will be held in Brisbane on November 16-17, 2016 and early bird registration is $550-770 depending on organization type.

1. • Engaging diverse groups of people, with different perspectives is fundamental to
commitment and innovation.
• Traditional methods of facilitation and project management do not develop or sustain
the relationships needed to move through the 'Groan Zone' to embrace diversity and
share risk taking while tackling complex challenges.
• Complex tools and methods maximise collaborative engagement, embrace diversity
of perspectives and experience and provide the basis for action
Using the current challenges of participants, this experiential workshop will equip
you to:
• Understand and apply the principles of complex facilitation to maximise participant
collaboration and minimise facilitator influence
• Use the Cynefin© complexity framework and associated methods for collaborative
sensemaking, planning, decision making , innovation, strategy and monitoring impact
• Apply narrative research tools for data collection
• Design ways of monitoring changes in complex environments
Your facilitators
Marcia Dwonczyk and Viv Read combine expertise and practical experience in complex
facilitation, partnering, community engagement and innovation. The workshop combines
theory and practice, exploring methods that do not require additional payment to be able to
apply.
Participants are encouraged to bring their complex issue to the workshop, to be used as the
basis for applying the methods and processes.
