Maruti Suzuki India Limited is a publicly listed automaker in India. It
is a leading four-wheeler automobile manufacture in South Asia.
It was the first company in India to mass-produce and sell more than a
million cars.
In 1981, Government of India entered into a joint venture with Suzuki
motor corporation of Japan marked the birth of Maruti Udyog
Limited.

• 10th May 2007, the government of India sold its complete share to
Indian financial institutions and no longer has any stake in Maruti
Udyog .
• Maruti Udyog Limited was renamed as Maruti Suzuki India
Limited. (17 Sept. 2007).
• Suzuki Motor Corporation owns equity of 56.2 %.
