Collaboration and Technologies Collaboration is a process where two or more people or organizations work together to accomplish some common goals by sharing knowledge, experience and skills Electronic collaboration is the purposeful use of networking and collaboration technologies to support groups in the creation of shared understanding toward joint effect
3. Benefits of Collaboration Technology Letting people connect with the correct information at the right time Helping connect people with the correct business processes Letting people connect with the other people they need to connect to
4. Research questions What are various collaboration technologies and tools and their associated benefits in driving workforce collaboration and productivity? What are the Frameworks that organizations can use to evaluate disparate Collaboration technologies for application to their unique needs and cultures What are the factors driving and hindering adoption of collaboration technologies in organizations? What are the approaches for successful roll-out of collaboration technology across organizations?
5. Hypothesis In order to improve productivity and gain full benefit of collaboration technologies, an organization has to select right set of technologies that address various adoption factors that are unique to its organizational needs, situation and culture An organization that carefully selects collaboration technologies suiting its unique characteristic and challenges, applies them systematically and follows through in their adoption can notice substantial benefits post implementation

My IntroductionWho am IFor this class I took up collaboration technology as my research focus as I wanted to learn more about collaboration tools and technologies
Here are some of the benefits of collaboration technologies
So my research focused on understanding three things of collaboration technologies :What are modern collaboration technologies that organizations can leverageAre there frameworks that help organizations with systematic selection and adoptionWhat are most important factors to look out for
I went in with a hypothesis that Collaboration technology can dramatically improve workforce productivity and reduce cost. But to achieve that organization has to follow a systematic approach and pay attention to non technology factors like people and processes. They also have to identify as to where would collaboration technology be most applicable.
I decided to review and leverage existing research done by experts in this area. So basically I did a descriptive research. Some of the papers listed in Appendix were backbone of my research.
Here are the results of my research
You can find extensive categorization of types of collaboration technologies and a comprehensive list of real tools and technologies in my paper. But here are some representative technology types and some examples.
In my paper I have dealt with these frameworks in detail and also included examples where they were used
There are many things that organizations need to be careful about if they want the collaboration technology to succeed. In my paper I have detailed analysis. But here are some of those factors for success.
Thank you. I would like to answer any questions that you may have.
