1. Gloria Fuertes
Biography

2.  Gloria Fuertes was born in Madrid
on June 20th 1917.

3.  Her family was poor. Her father was
a doorman and her mother was a
seamstreess.

4.  She as an only child. She went to a
catholic school.

5.  Her mother died in 1934, so she
had to work in a factory.
 While she worked
in the factory she also
wrote poems.

6.  She studied literature.

7.  She started a children´s magazine
called “Maravillas”.
 In 1947 she received the award for
“Best songs lyrics”.

8.  Later she received a grant and
moved to the United States for two
years.

9.  She collaborated with different
women´s magazines such as
“Chicas”, “Postismos” and
“Cervatana”.

10.  In the 70´s she had a TV show and
recited her poems. She became
very popular and was considered
the Poet of the children.

11.  She died on November 26th, 1998
in Madrid. She was 81 years old.
