I am SHYAM KUMAR VELURI.
I am a journalist not only by profession by attitude also a committed scribe
I am a journalist with passion
I completed 17 years of my career in electronic media journalism
My ultimate goal is to head a news channel….make it as people’s only choice for news.
I am a good team leader
My personal motto is - there is no good team and bad teams in this world
Every team is the best, provided, team leader should show right direction and rightly
motivated.
My early footsteps started in this field in 1997
Worked at all the stages of electronic media, i.e., reporter, sr reporter, regional bureau chief,
chief news coordinator, bureau chief, Input Editor and channel driver.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I completed my first post graduation in EnglishLiteraturefrom Sri Venkateswara
University, Tirupathi in the year 1994, later I joined as a lecturer in English in Reddy College,
Guntur.
My passion drives me to do another post graduation in Mass Communicationand
Journalismfrom Andhra University, visakapatnam in 1997. Because of my love on the
subject I secure twogold medals in both the years of post graduation, I was the top ranker
in the university.
Even I qualified JRFNational Eligibility Test in Journalism.
My professors forced me to join as research assistant in the same university but…
My passion towards the field journalism drove me to opt reporter job and I started my
journey as a reporter in ETV in the same year 1997.

After my transfer to north telangana region as senior reporter…
I was exposed to the real world of sufferings…sorrows…forest..tribals…naxals and police
Every day is a new day for me…travelled a lot…
four districts Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagarand Warangal are my area of operation
Each village speaks a different story…
Each individual had a peculiarangle on the world…
Interviewed naxals…
Participated in police encounters…
Spent nights in forest tribal hamlets…
Exposed several scams…
Under stood various groups thoughts and philosophies..
Received several appreciations from ETV chairman Ramoji Rao garu

In 2003 December, joined in TV9 as regional bureau chief.
I was the one among the founder team of tv9
I concentrated more on sting stories in tv9.
Exposed various unnatural elements of society
I was there in tv9 more than five years…in that tenure on an average…
Filed at least one sting story for a week

3. State wide sensational…national wide sensational…internationally viewed stories filed
I worked as regions head in three regions, 1.telangana, 2.rayalaseema, 3.uttarandhra
Some of my very famous stories in tv9 are…
1. Professor sexual harassment of a girl students in REC, Warangal. Caught him redhanded in
a hotel – it became very sensational, and the professor was son in law of a minister in tdp
government and he was terminated later.
2. A mother harassed a fried of her daughter by making anonymous calls, threatening her by
sending love letters, vulgar gifts, blood letters. Reason is she would not get good marks than
her daughter. After a sting operation, it was proved that it was all doing mother by changing
voice from different phone booths. It became very sensational, even telecasted in CNN
international. She was arrested.
3. A week long operation did in dandakaranya forest. A special team of smugglers, who were
having wide contacts with all the top bras vips doing wild animals smuggling. They were after
big animals like tiger, cheetah, deer and other animals. They trap the live animals and
transport them. I busted the story by staying in forest for one week with full visuals. It was
also an sensational story and central government reacted and prime minister made a special
statement to protect animals in forest.
4. Gave series of stories on Tirumala. On Tirumala in the name of God, how pilgrims are being
exploited were brought out in a series. It became very sensational and lot of reform measures
had been taken by the devasthanam
5. 48 hour long episode – first of its kind in our state and even in the country. Borewell death.
Frist bore well death happened in prakasam district, due toour initiative and continuous live
coverage entire state government mechanism moved and tried in hard torescue the child
and entire the state prayed for his survivel. Entire episode drived the channel tohigh ratings
and I got very good name.
INEWS
I am one among the sculptures of INEWS
I am the main founder team member in the channel
We shaped the channel in to a successful news channel
From bricks to live broadcast we shaped the channel
I came across all the teething problems of new channels and found solutions also

4. My intervention was there in all successful programs, physically, at ideation stage and
implementation level
First one year we drove the channel intothe peaks and gave tight competition totv9
I handled panel discussions
Pin counter dada program was my brain child
I did a special sting program which was called I WATCHING YOU
I was the in charge of all districts and excellent stories came out from districts
As being chief news coordinator of the channel, I brought the name to the channel as
breaking news channel.
I trained 40 young men and women in to journalists and we incorporated them.
Now they are all in good positions in different channels
NTV
I got chance in NTV as Chief News Coordinator
Though my designation is CNC, I concentrated more on Hyderabad bureau
Hyderabad bureau got good number of experienced reporters
Here I got new experience, working with senior reporter as their team leader
NTV got good numberof politicalstories by that time but packaging is not upto the mark
I played a crucial role in making the packages attractive by coordinating with desk
Within a short time I got an offer from STUDIO N as INPUT EDITOR
STUDIO N
I was INPUT EDITOR in this channel
Hyderabad bureau and districts and coordination were my domine
I was asked to do political panel discussions also
I proved in all aspects
All my political discussion were well appreciated by all
I personally brought many changes in coordination structure
I made district reporters to file stories in an aggressive mode
Hyderabad bureau was like lagan team, make every reporterpersonally appreciated by heads
and people.

Presently I am with INEWS with the designation as INPUT EDITOR

5. Other merits
- Worked as a research assistant to a team from Soubourne University, France,
Did research on Kolar Gold Mine workers and their health problems and living
conditions
- Worked as Guest lecturer in Kakatiya University journalism students for three years
