7 supernatural phenomena
1. 27:45 Now from the sixth hour (noon) there was darkness
over all the land until the ninth hour (three o'clock).
27:46 And about the ninth hour (three o'clock) Jesus cried
with a loud voice, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?--that is, My God,
My God, why have You abandoned Me [leaving Me helpless,
forsaking and failing Me in My need]?
27:47 And some of the bystanders, when they heard it, said,
This Man is calling for Elijah!
27:48 And one of them immediately ran and took a sponge,
soaked it with vinegar (a sour wine), and put it on a reed
(staff), and was about to give it to Him to drink.
27:49 But the others said, Wait! Let us see whether Elijah
will come to save Him from death.
27:50 And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and gave up
His spirit.
2. 27:51 And at once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple
was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the
rocks were split.
27:52 The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints
who had fallen asleep in death were raised [to life];
27:53 And coming out of the tombs after His resurrection,
they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
27:54 When the centurion and those who were with him
keeping watch over Jesus observed the earthquake and all
that was happening, they were terribly frightened {and}
filled with awe, and said, Truly this was God's Son!
27:55 There were also numerous women there, looking on
from a distance, who were of those who had accompanied
Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him.
4. The darkness symbolizes that:
a) God’s Son visited the dark world
b) The darkest day of human history
c) The darkness of sin
d) The darkness of Human’s heart
5. The Mysterious cry symbolizes that:
a) Sin separates man from God
b) The agony of being separated from God
6. “ It is Finished” shout means :
• Christ’s finished work
Yielding up of Jesus spirit means
• He gave up His life willingly
John 10:18 No one takes my life away from me. I give
it up of my own free will. I have the right to give it
up, and I have the right to take it back. This is what
my Father has commanded me to do."
7. The temple in those days was divided into three areas or
parts.
1. There was the Outer Court...,where the
congregation was permitted to enter.
2. the Holy Place..., where the priests entered...,
3. and the Holy of Holies where only the High Priest
could enter.
… the tearing,...the breaking of the veil...showed that the
price had been paid, now through the blood of Jesus
Christ’s people everywhere are permitted to come
into the presence of God
8. The earth trembled because of the weight of sin placed upon
its Architect and Creator for your sake!
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) Who his own self bare our sins in his own
body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live
unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
The earth trembled symbolizing what will happen on the
Great Day
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the
night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great
noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the
earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned
up.
9. The resurrection of the bodies symbolizes:
• The conquest of death by Christ. The power of death is now
broken.
1Corinthians 15:25 For Christ must rule until God defeats all
enemies and puts them under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy to be defeated will be death
• The believers will live even they die.
Joh 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life.
Those who believe in me will live, even though they die;
Joh 11:26 and those who live and believe in me will never die.
Do you believe this?"
10. The greatest miracle that can happen is to have a
changed heart
Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a
new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out
of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
Eze 11:20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine
ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and
I will be their God.
Rom 10:9 If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that
God raised him from death, you will be saved.
