OEMs face increasing levels of complexity from integrating new silicon to the development and integration of software code from various sources. In addition to standalone tool suppliers, competitive market dynamics has created choice in the source and selection of tools that can be acquired as part of a commercial OS platform, available through the open source community, or available through hardware suppliers. For standalone tool suppliers, the market challenge is further complicated by the anticipated decrease in use of in-house developed target OSes, where the use of these tools represents an important source of income for suppliers.
