- The first official branded SharePoint technologies were released in 2001SharePoint Portal Server 2001 (codenamed Tahoe) and SharePoint Team Services (STS)SharePoint Portal Server 2001 (codenamed Tahoe) used as Portal Information through navigation and searchSharePoint Team Services (STS) used as collaboration.Get sites up and running very quickly to organize documents, events, and other digital informationCustomers wanted to use portal and collaboration features in integrated waySo both teams worked together and redesign the architecture. When an individual client establishes a connection with a SharePoint server, synchronization occurs at regular intervals when the client is online.
