The WTO provides a framework for multilateral trade negotiations and agreements between its over 150 member countries. It aims to lower trade barriers, establish rules for trade in goods and services, settle disputes, and help developing countries participate in trade. The current Doha Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations launched in 2001 aim to further lower trade barriers and address the needs of developing economies, but face challenges in reaching agreement.
