This is a nightschool talk I gave at W-JAX in Munich 2012. The nightschool talks are meant to be less technical and more entertaining since they are held after a long day of sessions. In this talk I ranted a bit about the disciple attitude, imho seen too often in the IT community. If a "guru" unburdens himself from another piece of wisdom, many people do not use their brain to reflect it - it is just "the truth" because the guru said it. I used several of those wisdoms to demonstrate that a critical reflection is still valuable, no matter who said something or how many people are repeating it. Actually, I did not rant against the ideas themselves - many of them are very, very valuable - I ranted against the dogmatism of the people spreading it and the even worse dogmatism of many people picking up the ideas. After all my message was: You are smart, so use your brain to reflect new ideas. Be critical (in a construcitve way), no matter who tells you something. Be inspired by new ideas, do not turn them into a dogmatism. Keep your sandal at your foot. The slides are not very narrative (sorry for that), but you probably get the idea anyway ... and probably you will have even better examples for it than I have presented ... ;-)
