TRANSPORTATION
We provide a full range of parking and transportation services for a diverse com-
munity of more than 38,000 students, 12,000 faculty and staff, and thousands of
visitors to the Berkeley Campus, in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. In
support of Berkeley’s mission of Teaching, Research, and Public Service, Parking &
Transportation is dedicated to delivering transportation systems that provide the
Berkeley community a choice of how to get to and around campus.

to providing a full suite of transportation options so we can minimize the number of single
occupancy vehicles we have coming to campus every day.

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is the rail system that connects
millions of riders across the Bay Area daily. BART runs from
Fremont to Richmond and Pittsburg to San Francisco Airport with
numerous stops, including Downtown Berkeley/UC Berkeley campus,

9. AC TRANSIT
AC Transit is the bus system serving the East Bay. Cal Students ride free with their Class Pass
and faculty and staff are eligible for subsidized monthly passes for all AC Transit routes including
the Transbay line to San Francisco and the U-Line from Fremont BART to Stanford.

Bear Transit is UC Berkeley’s shuttle system, servicing the campus and vicinity. Bear Transit
provides convenient transportation between campus, Downtown Berkeley BART, parking
lots, Clark Kerr campus, the Hill area, residence halls, Richmond Field Station, and Campus
Shared Services on 4th Street. Just show your Cal ID to the driver. For route and schedule

Both the City of Berkeley and the University offer an
extensive network of bike and pedestrian-friendly
routes, and efforts are ongoing to improve access
and facilities for cyclists and walkers.
Bicycle Racks provided at convenient locations
throughout the central campus area.

Sports Facility, Energy Biosciences Building, and
Moffit Library.

The Night Safety Shuttle service is an extension of the Bear Transit shuttle
