2. Apple Inc., formerly Apple Computer, Inc., is an
American multinational corporation headquartered
in Cupertino, California that designs, develops,
and sells consumer electronics, computer software
and personal computers
Apple was established on April 1, 1976, by Steve
Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne to sell
the Apple I personal computer kit, a computer single
handedly designed by Wozniak. The kits were hand-
built by Wozniak and first shown to the public at the
Homebrew Computer Club

6. • In 1985, Jobs was relieved of his management duties.
• The introduction of the Macintosh portable in 1989,
and the PowerBook in 1991 made Apple very
successful.
• For a time, Apple was the market leader in personal
computer technology
• After 1993 though, Apple began to slip, launching a
long list of failing products, and losing market share to
Microsoft
• In 1996, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy,
and Jobs was brought back into the company.
