3. Right Time Architectures – APPLICATION ACCESS in RIGHT TIME (AART)
Businesses today are requiring right-time transactions, right-time decisions, and
immediate allocation or reallocation of resources to meet changing customer and
business requirements. We don't have to wait for a very mature stage of DW or BI to
implement Active (analytical real-time) applications.
Organizations can begin in the earlier stages with Active Loading and Active Access to
provide support for right-time decisions which affect customer profitability, loyalty, and
cost reduction. Focusing on right-time results such as, handling a customer complaint
call, avoiding customer "churn" or loss or simply reducing the length of time it takes to
call a customer back by focusing on the decision and the action -- not just on the data
and the reports. Many companies are implementing new actions that were previously
impossible or very difficult to deliver. This session will give you a formidable view of
numerous successful ACTIVE INTELLIGENCE applications.
AART is a service that consumer groups would have subscription to for accessing
application data in Right Time. This would be implemented in 2 phases.
Phase Scope
I. 1. Create a platform for enabling AART access
2. Provide Basic and intermediate services to support Business
Intelligence and Operational Intelligence Reports
3. Source data from a single data feed : One transactional processing
system
4. Provide services to downstream systems (A, B, C)
II. 1. Create intermediate and Advanced services
2. Add multiple feeds of data sources : Internal Websites ,
External websites
3. Provide additional services to existing downstream systems
(D, E, F, G)
4. Provide services to additional downstream systems

Enclosing a partial list of Right Time Implementations in Financial Services industry for ready reference:
• Blum Capital Partners L.P
Informatics’s Data Integration Power Pack with the Real Time Option allows us to build
real-time web service integration between Salesforce.com, Reuters information service
and our internal systems. It allows us to automatically download key information on
companies of interest from multiple sources into a single user interface. As a result, our
investment professionals can access the information that they require whenever and
wherever they need it. We believe that the automatic population of data via integration is
a key driver for higher user adoption for any CRM solution and therefore our return on
investment is increased for our whole application infrastructure.”
• SEI
“If our Global Wealth Management Platform was not operational, it would be extremely
significant for us. Without Informatics’s right-time data integration capabilities, we would
have had to create multiple decentralized integration mechanisms, which would have
added additional overhead and risk. The Power Exchange CDC functionality Informatica
provides allows us to remain a 24 x 7 platform. It ultimately allows us faster time to
market with fewer bugs.”

8. Right Time Implementations – Case Studies
A. PayPal Scales Rapid Growth and Provides Near Real-Time Data across the Enterprise
PayPal, acquired by eBay in 2002, is a global leader in online payment solutions with more than
164 million accounts worldwide. Available in 190 markets and 17 currencies around the world,
PayPal enables global ecommerce by making payments possible across different locations,
currencies, and languages.
With rapid growth world wide in addition to an ever expanding portfolio of new products and
services, PayPal's operations and product development teams were faced with the daunting
challenge of scaling its most critical systems. In this session, Andrew Lanthier will share the overall
business drivers behind PayPal's marquee scalability initiatives and how data replication and
management plays a critical role in that effort. Andrew will also discuss some of the challenges
most companies face in managing data across the enterprise, and specifically how PayPal
examined various technology approaches, including a "build in house" strategy, before partnering
with GoldenGate to deliver a world class data replication infrastructure. Moving forward, PayPal
recognizes the importance of delivering real-time ODS's as a key strategy to drive growth and
deliver new business opportunities.
B. SinglePoint Innovates Reality Television with Real-Time Reporting
SinglePoint is the leading provider of interactive television solutions in North America working with
content owners, media companies, and advertisers to create, deliver, and confirm premium mobile
messages. In late 2007, SinglePoint processed 84 percent of interactive TV transactions initiated by
mobile text message users. One aspect of television is the need to be able to adjust the on-air
presentation to get the best results. SinglePoint uses GoldenGate to merge information from 3
different systems running in 2 data centers into a real-time reporting system that can show traffic
and votes with seconds of latency in order to adjust the next segment. Join this session as Curt
Miller discusses in detail the best practices approach SinglePoint took to implement GoldenGate,
transform SinglePoint's business model and change the face of reality TV.
C. ERCOT Implementation of GoldenGate for Real-Time Operational DW
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) operates the electric grid and manages the
deregulated market for 75 percent of the state of Texas. The mission of ERCOT is to direct and
ensure the reliable and cost-effective operation of the electric grid and to enable fair and efficient
market-driven solutions to meet customers' electric service needs.
This presentation will describe the implementation of GoldenGate Software at ERCOT. GoldenGate
is used to synchronize a large operational data warehouse from the various source databases
supporting business critical applications. Oracle is the preferred database for the source and target
environments. Most of the GoldenGate data replication operates at or very close to real-time, with a
few exceptions. The operational data warehouse provides historical data snapshots as of a point-in-
time for a variety of reports to the business. Additionally, it also supports data extracts that are very
critical to various external customers and market participants. The standardization and modularity of
each GoldenGate replication stream allows quick build-out of new environments and offers plug-

and-play benefits with an emphasis placed on fault tolerance at each level of the GoldenGate
implementation. Both the GoldenGate Veridata™ and Director™ products have been deployed to
monitor the various GoldenGate components and minimize the business impact of data
discrepancies. Achieving a high degree of continuous data feeds with quality control on data,
resilience of overall end-to-end process and scope for scalability, are some of the great benefits
ERCOT has been able to achieve with GoldenGate.
D. NetJets Migrate its Mission Critical Application with Near Zero Downtime
Application Migration and Server Consolidation form the basis of data center simplification. To
leverage new technology, (Power, Virtualization, etc.), knowing how to protect the business logic
application is of extreme importance to the success of an organization's migration plans. This
session will focus on the history, expertise, and execution best practices of the IBM Migration
Factory.
NetJets Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is the worldwide leader in private aviation and
provides the safest and most secure private aviation solutions. NetJets fractional aircraft
ownership allows individuals and companies to buy a share of a private business jet at a fraction of
the cost of whole aircraft ownership, and guarantees availability 365 days a year with just a few
hours' notice. The NetJets programs worldwide offer the largest and most diversified fleet in private
aviation, which includes 15 of the most popular business jets in the world. Access to the NetJets
fleet is also available in the form of a short-term lease, sold on an all-inclusive, pre-paid basis in 25-
hour increments, through an exclusive alliance with Marquis Jet Partners. NetJets Inc. also offers
aircraft management, charter management, and on-demand charter services through its subsidiary,
Executive Jet Management. More information on NetJets, the Marquis Jet Program, and Executive
Jet Management is available at www.netjets.com.
NetJets used GoldenGate's real-time migration solution to replicate transactional production data
from its core application database which ran on Sun Solaris 10 (v890) to a more powerful IBM AIX
5.3 (p570) platform. NetJets was looking at 36 hours of downtime for their migration or a long
arduous process of upgrading the database to 10gR2 on Solaris and then migrate to AIX. The
implementation of the GoldenGate solution not only allowed NetJets to keep their mission critical
application running during the migration, but it also enabled NetJets to move to a more powerful
platform in a short period of time. NetJets is now seeing better performance of their mission critical
application on the new IBM AIX platform.
E. Enabling Live Reporting for Leading Turkish Bank; Yapi Kredi
A pioneer in retail banking and innovation, Yapi Kredi was the first bank to introduce Turkish
consumers to services such as: loans, credit cards, account access cards, ATMs and various other
banking and investment products. With over 13 million customers and more than 670 branches
throughout the country, it has always been a major priority for Yapi Kredi to run efficient IT
operations. Yapi Kredi understands the importance of delivering high quality service to its growing
community and to better understand its customer base, as well as to offer relevant add-on products
and services. Join this session, jointly presented by Yapi Kredi and ITD, to learn how the bank
implemented GoldenGate Live Reporting in an effort to move away from batch processing using
ETL which yielded report latency and performance degradation against the source system, to off-
loading reporting activity to a lower-cost environment, where the most current data is always
available for enterprise reporting requirements.

F. VocaLink –Enable Faster Payments for Banking Transactions
For the past 40 years, VocaLink has pioneered and provided solutions to banks, financial
institutions and businesses for secure electronic payments. VocaLink's automated payment
platform processes over 80 million transactions per day and the switching platform powers the
world's busiest ATM network, connecting over 60,000 ATMs, predominantly across the UK and
Europe . Link UK Interchange (now VocaLink) has been an ACI Base24™ customer since 1997 and
initially deployed GoldenGate in 1999 for high availability / disaster tolerance of its distributed ATM
network running on the HP NonStop platform. Downtime is not an option and VocaLink successfully
used GoldenGate to upgrade to a new version of Base24 with minimal downtime. Since that time,
GoldenGate has become an integral part of the IT Infrastructure and additional projects have been
deployed such as linking ACI's Card Management System to Base24 and more recently for a new
"Faster Payments" application in order to meet recent compliance rules drawn up by the UK
Government's Office of Fair Trading, which stipulates that telephone and Internet payments be
carried out close to real-time as opposed to previously taking 3 days. This presentation will share a
number of best practices for using GoldenGate in a Base24 environment and extending the value of
GoldenGate's capabilities across environments that require high performance data integration and
movement.
