Now, I am going to find out how teenagers and young adults think of love and deal with love through the culture in Hong Kong.
First of all, do you agree with this case? Love as instant noodles? Do you think it is ridiculous? But the fact is that a part of teenagers and young adults really thinking love is like that.
So, I would like to talk about the survey which is done by this organization, it is about how young people deal with love in different stages. They have interviewed the total of 509 post-80 generation. And the survey found that, the pursuit phase, love period and break up recovery period are about 44%, 43% and 37% respectively of the respondents are paying less than one month.
and nearly eighty percent also admitted to dating for three or more times. What caused the phenomenon? Actually, it is rooted in different reasons.
The first reason is affected by the foreign culture especially celebrities. Everywhere you turn, you hear young pop artists sing about love, you turn to see a magazine where the cover is probably about a celebrity teenage couple with the headline, “Is it love?” or something of that nature, but it’s actually not in good fun. The word “love” in today’s pop culture is destructive and unrealistic. Not only is it unrealistic, it’s being use incorrectly and it’s being geared towards teenagers, which, let’s face it, aren’t emotionally mature enough for love. So, music is a prime example of this particular topic. Let me give an example to you. The song is called “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. In this song, there’s a part of the song where Kate Perry says, “Let’s go all the way tonight. No regrets, just love.”That sounds an awful lot like sex to us! It’s kind of shallow and gives teenagers the idea that just emphasis on feeling rather than thinking, but this idea is definitely untrue. The mere fact that pop culture and media has such an affect on teenagers is a little bit scary. Therefore, the foreign culture is really affecting nowadays teenagers how to deal with love.
The second reason is affected by the negative evaluation. After all, the investigation only interviewed hundreds of objects, so it can not be compared with the accuracy of the census. So, the face of all the criticism in the society, we are not difficult to feel their sense of marginalization, discrimination and labeling of grievances. Moreover, this communication gap has deepened most of them that adults do not understand, do not understand their real needs. Paradoxically, they may unconsciously caused to the self-fulfilling prophecy of psychology. Beliefs or behavior of young people, whether correct or not, also are affected by the negative evaluation from the society. If society had the default their image, this will make the image often presented in an imaginary reality.
The third reason is they feel lost in the society. We are not difficult to find that the behavior of instant love of the youth is only feel lost in the society, cannot find their value and meaning. What they really need is “soulful connectedness”, “trusted” and “the joy of love and be loved”
Alright, the last reason is associated with instant shopping mode. Consumer culture has created a lifestyle to young people. Instant pleasure 、 emphasis on feeling rather than thinking 、 desires are endless are materialism. In fact, materialism just likes instant love. Maybe we often get worried as we cannot pursue the luxurious life. On the contrary, possess too much will bring unnecessary stress too. The possible reasons may be someone is coming from wealthy families, or singleton, or feel abnormal pressure in daily life. So, values of young people to be successful restructuring, we must start on an individual's lifestyle and consumption patterns.
Finally, there’s other factors may affect teenage values to think of love and deal with love. Autonomous individualism, Narcissistic hedonism, Positioning and Religion.
They has their value itself Hope you can find the love value which suitable for you
