Pictures from some of the best hitters in baseball. Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn are hall-of-famers.
-Picture of the stance of Derek Jeter, one of the best hitters for high average of all time.
-Miguel Cabrera. Notice his load with his hands back ready to move forward to generate power.
-Picture of me from last year. Timing is by far the most important thing in the swing.
Inside vs. Outside pitch extremely hard to adjust to. If you don’t hit the ball where it’s pitched you can get jammed or make very poor contact for an easy out.
It’s hard to react to off speed but you need to keep your weight back and wait for the pitch. The ball will move depending on the pitch so you need to take that into account as well.
Power hitting is hitting for a lot of home runs and runs batted it in, while contact hitting is for making good contact, hitting the ball where it is pitched, and having a high batting average and on-base percentage.
Chart of the career batting averages of some of the well known stars of baseball. Notice how .334 is extremely high for an average, showing that he gets a hit once out of every three times.
