This document summarizes hiring data and trends for graduates of the IU School of Informatics and Computing for the 2009-2010 school year. It finds that 61% of undergraduate and graduate students secured employment or acceptance to graduate school, comparable to previous years despite economic challenges. The number of enrolled students increased 74% since 2007-2008, providing employers with a large talent pool. Over 200 employers hired students in the past 3 years for a variety of technical roles. Students obtained positions across the US and internationally, with average reported salaries of $53,500 for undergraduates and $65,000 for graduates.

This year, there were more undergraduate students who secured their future employment or
grad school plans before graduation, than there were undergrads who graduated last May.
Our overall student population available for hire has increased
74% since 2007-2008, offering employers a very large talent pool.
In the midst of a recession and a 74% increase in
students, we saw a 1% increase in the percent of
student who secured their future plans by
graduation (61%) – which is also 16% above the
national average.
